Going back to my old avatar pretty soon. I miss it. I hope nobody minds.

The Criterion has the theatrical mono, the complete mono Japanese dub, and the Gilliam/Jones commentary.
Not so much cut, as replaced. Why there are two different sequences, I have no idea.

"Hey Bulldog"

Did anyone go to a screening last night?
Well, the Gilliam/Jones track was done by Criterion in the early 90's, but they may have given Sony an unmixed master to blend with the new sound mix. I'll have to give it a listen at the points where there's new music added.
The Japanese dub (what's left of it) definitely was married to the new mix.
If you want the all the mono LD tracks, let me know.
George must have been a barrel of laughs when he was attending USC in the late 60's. ;)
Although I have trouble believing some of the imagery in THX 1138 wasn't chemically inspired.
From what I've read over at the HTF, it looks like all the DVD extras are being ported over. With the possible exception of the music only track.
The Robert Zemeckis remake is apparently dead in the water, so that may be one reason the original is finally coming out on Blu.
Will be interested to see if the footage replaced by "Hey Bulldog" shows up, if only as an extra. No sign of it in the announced disc specs though.
Glad to hear. Do you think you can post video of the clip when you're done?
I'm still waiting on the 1983 LD to show up. The seller has gone quiet, so I'm slightly worried.
That four movie pack with Fierce Creatures in it was a bummer. I can't believe Universal would put out a non-anamorphic letterbox transfer in this decade. To further confuse people, the packaging says full frame, yet the disc label says anamorphic, go figure.
I actually think the old LD looks better. (So it goes back into the preservation pile I'm trying to slog through.) The only saving grace of the DVD is the Dolby 5.1 track, although it was DTS theatrically. I'm only out five bucks, but someone at Universal needs a visit from the killer rabbit for this deception! ;)
Interesting reading. Especially since I once dreamed of working at ILM when I was a kid.
Of course, the ILM I idolized only ever existed in reality at a warehouse in Van Nuys in the 70's.

Don't own that one, though I do have a bit of nostalgia for it.
It doesn't need to be about destiny necessarily, it could be anything that is funny.
I spotted the DVD for three bucks at Big Lots recently if that helps any.
Are there any other movies in your collection with Ralph Brown that could supply needed dialogue for Mr. Olie if needed?
Or just use Palpy's evil laughter?
Off the top of my head, Zeus says a similar line about destiny in the original Clash of the Titans.
Is it possible to tweak the colors of the planet out the rear windows to match up with Coruscant?
It also might be really funny if Palpatine is the one who does the despicable deed. The shot where his back is to the camera in his office in ROTS, looking at a computer display could work. And he utters a hearty "Yes!" during the final Anakin/Dooku fight.
Last time I went looking for the IRC channel it wasn't there. Unless we are talking about something different?
If there's interest in starting it up again, let me know.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
No problems I can see or hear. I had a feeling you were going to do that sooner or later though. ;)
I heard this 70's classic again for the first time in ages, and immediately thought of Anakin and Padme. ;)
Don't know if it's been mentioned around here, but there are screenings of the restored YS in theaters this month.

I hope it's more than simply throwing the Blu Ray up on the video projector theaters use for ads.
Sorry to hear you're having trouble with this.
On a Python related note, I've found out Universal finally released "Fierce Creatures" in widescreen on DVD last year, and apparently didn't bother to tell anybody. Going down to Fry's tomorrow and try to find a copy. One less Laserdisc to preserve is always a good thing.

Stuff like this is why the Marvel Comics are officially considered a lower level of canonicity than even the EU
I'll take Marvel over the EU any day of the week. It's a lot more fun.
Our mystery man may not actually have blue skin though. Isn't that also a color technique to show someone in shadow or darkness?
Interesting they drew Ben with a stubbly beard, but no mustache.
Can this be done with video, or will that pry open the gates of hell?
If humidity isn't going to be an issue, I've had success with double bagging cardboard boxes with extra large heavy duty trash bags, and taping them shut. (Using packaging tape.) It helps to mark what's inside, as you won't remember the contents a year later.
I had to contend with a leaky moldy storage shed for over a decade, and this worked to keep things dry, and keep creepy crawlies out of my stuff. I'm in California, so how well this works in other climates may vary.
The ever popular stackable plastic storage bins are also a good option.
Problem is, Kharys is the female alien at the bottom of the panel.

I wish I could just dig out my old Marvels and reread this issue, but they aren't handy at the moment.
Lucas apparently did keep an eye on the comic early on, as he objected to Han Solo's big meat eating rabbit ally. Whether he was watching things as closely in 1979 is anyone's guess.
Someone at Lucasfilm had to be paying attention as Marvel got perilously close to scooping the films more than once. Some cute fuzzy aliens had to be redrawn months before Jedi, with the Ewoks waiting in the wings.
Some of the pre-production art glimpsed on the Revenge of the Sith DVD does depict Anakin with a mohawk. Could someone have been inspired by the comic?
The story you refer to appeared in Star Wars Annual #1 in 1979. Some of these once a year specials were reprinting stories that first ran in the UK Marvel Star Wars book, which was a weekly black and white publication, and sometimes needed more material as a result.
I think this is the panel you’re thinking of.
or
I'll move it for you.
