Puggo is the one who graciously did the capture for us with the same gear used for his current OT projects.
It is a pretty badly faded and worn out print. If not for that lost scene, I would consider burying it. ;)
There was talk of a Batman Forever director's cut for Blu Ray right before the format launch, but obviously nothing came out of it.
Batman and Robin is the horrible disaster you can't look away from. I don't know which minor bit of business bugs me more, that Batman has a credit card, or that the scientists working at the observatory are the only two people in Gotham City who don't know who Mr. Freeze is.
I find the scientists so annoying for some reason, I cheer when they are frozen, and boo when they are saved from plummeting to their doom. Maybe it's the cumulative effect of the movie trying to swallow my soul?

I saw it on tv in the late 70's early 80's. It was hyped as being "from the director of Star Wars", which created false expectations in my young mind of course. For some reason the dialog was hard to hear at times, which didn't help much.
Perhaps, but without the belt, the buckle becomes one weird ass bellybutton.
It's weird, but certain materials do get stuck to each other sometimes. I had a remote control sitting in a dresser drawer that got stuck to a t-shirt transfer after only a few weeks!

I should have said I thought they crossed the line when I saw it broadcast.
The Blu Rays were not out yet at the time, and the season one HD-DVD set did not include the originals.

I thought TOSR crossed the line when they erased a statue that was part of the live action city set in the episode "Wink of an eye".
I don't see "Great Movie Stunts", or "Great Adventurers and their Quests". Both vintage docs were released on VHS and LD.
Doesn't look like "The Making of Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom", is there either. It only aired once or twice on PBS back in 1984, and never saw a home video release.
It looks and sounds fine to me.
One minor quibble, isn't there a sound effect with the big doors breaking at the end? I haven't watched my LD in a long time, but I remember it.
I totally understand if it's impossible to extract that sound effect sans original orchestra though.
I wonder if we will get to see this footage in better quality? ;)

They used the same model in Generations, so technically we have seen it in HD before. A couple TNG stock shots got used in the movie too.

ABC News coverage of when 3po, R2 and Vader got their feet into the concrete of the Hollywood walk of fame, in front of Grauman's Theater. This is the second opening of SW at the theater.

Question: Most SW docs when they want to show the popularity of SW they open with the shot of this theater full of people. That shot must have come from this event, so the question becomes is there any documented proof of what opening day of SW at the Grauman actually looked like?
There's probably archival news footage in the vaults of local tv stations from that day. Maybe someday it will find it's way onto the net.
Lucas and Spielberg got the dip their feet together there in the 1984. I can attest to the fact Steven and I probably have the same shoe size, and George has tiny feet! ;)
