It seems as if few of the RC writers are involved with this. What made the RC sketches funny was how they used things in the movies as a jumping off point for the humor. Since when did Leia ever act like such a little spoiled stuck up brat? Bad enough she's been rendered as a short little bobble head freak.

There's a risk of oversaturation, (Robot Chicken and Mad do plenty of SW spoofs already) and even diluting the franchise.
Spaceballs was tried as an animated series, and it didn't exactly set the world on fire.
Not that funny, except for the matte painting joke.

Few people are going to have a room big enough in their house to make such high resolutions pay off. And Hollywood isn't likely to supply such material for home use without draconian copy protection measures that will make Blu Ray seem mild by comparison.
Wake me when they make a flat screen you can roll up like a window shade. ;)
Reviewed my capture tonight, and there was a major video glitch during the Sandra Dee reprise, which affected the audio for a couple seconds. Going to try to recapture that bit tonight. If it's beyond salvage, it will have to be patched from one of the Laserdiscs or some other source.
In spite of one or two other minor video dropouts, the rest of the audio sounds great!
As vinyl was still dominant when this was released, they may have made edits to fit the records. Expanded for CD scores were still a long way off.
I didn't know any of the soundtrack had any edits. Odd, since you'd think there was plenty of room on a 2 cd set.
Are there other modern recordings you can use to patch the missing bits?

I would hazard a guess ESB got the nod for Yoda, as our favorite little green Jedi master straddles the line between makeup and puppet. It also would have nicely sidestepped not giving Frank Oz an best supporting actor nomination. (Something Lucas wanted.)
It was among five Hitchcock films that were out of circulation for a long time. For over a decade it was difficult to even see it. That kind of thing adds to the mystique.
You won't get some of the jokes in "High Anxiety" if you haven't seen Vertigo. ;)
I think the disc has to be authored that way, or no resuming.
The format would have been a lot better off without Java, and all the other stuff bloating up discs when all we really want to do is watch a darn movie.
Could be, there's a doc on the Sinbad disc where Ray discusses the difficulties of working in color.
I have "Jason and the Argonauts", "Seventh Voyage of Sinbad" and "Mysterious Island" on Blu. (The early black and white films and Clash of the Titans are available too.) MI and Sinbad hold up pretty good.
I thought the complicated mattes of Jason's skeleton fight were a little too easy to discern in HD. Still, they all look great given what was left to work with.

There were a couple special awards given out prior to 1981.
Rick Baker got screwed over for King Kong in the 70's, as Dino DeLaurentis somehow managed to make the academy believe Carlo Rambaldi's life sized animatronic Kong was used for most of the movie.
Windom was a great actor. He actually played Commodore Decker again in one of the TOS fanfilm productions a couple years ago.
Diller was a really funny lady I thought was going to be around forever. (I think she was still doing standup until her health problems started.) I may shed a tear or two when I watch Mad Monster Party again.
