Info: Re-mixed audio tracks on video releases
Time

Early LD's have all sorts of rot problems that can affect the audio, and non-CX encoded tracks have varying levels of noise depending on the quality of the video master. Had the unrestored Vertigo been remastered on LD with a digital track, it would be a whole different story.

After going through three dodgy copies of Grease in search of a decent track, I'm not eager to repeat that experience. Beta was first out of the gate with Hi-Fi, so there are more early releases that have it. Most of the old beta tapes I've encountered actually have aged gracefully.

Aluminum Falcon, are you sure your VHS copies are not the restored version?

The second film is enjoyable, (it kicked off the SciFi channel era of MST3K) the third is more melodrama than monster movie. (Taking the Gillman and surgically altering him into a land dweller was a bad idea.)

I didn't enjoy it when I saw it as a kid, but when revisiting it in the DVD set it had it's moments, especially since lead actors from "This Island Earth" are in it.

There was a  live musical version of the first movie running at Universal in Hollywood a couple years ago.

The Legend of Hell House (1973)

There was a lot of nice atmosphere present in the film, and it was interesting to see Clive Revill in an actual on-screen performance, but the story felt rushed and the ending was a little too anticlimactic for my tastes.

6/10

Hell House scared the heck out of me when I was a kid, and it's still damn creepy. Makes a great double feature with The Haunting. (The original, not the remake.)

And Roddy McDowall is great as usual.

Given Spielberg's current stance on altering his movies, this is quite a screwup that that shot got through without someone spotting it.

Isn't the Washington D.C. establishing shot actually stock footage from another film? Would have cost a lot to shoot that on location with period cars even back then.

Cool! Were there any promotional goodies to be had?

Got together with a friend to go see it, as the nearest theater showing it was almost fifty miles away. The angle and size of the screen made it seem like Mike and the bots actually were sitting in the front row.

I thought my ticket stub was lost forever. Finally found it a few years back, and framed it with an ad for the movie.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the title?

As the person who created the entry is long gone, and there never was a cover photo I could find elsewhere, I thought this might be one of those vaporware titles that was cancelled.

I have the U.S. version, and a few of the movies riffed on the series in my LD collection as well.
