It's not Star Wars Special Edition level bad, but it doesn't improve on anything, and the comic book transitions don't look like a product of 1979 either. I don't think the prologue was needed.
I wouldn't mind it so much if the original was included. The Director's Cut is worth getting just for the making of documentary.
I don't think the hype machine has even been warmed up yet. Although avoiding the overkill that surrounded TPM might be a good idea.

Gave the THX DVD's a quick look last night to examine the fullscreen versions and see if they are truly open matte or not. Goldfinger is partly rotted! I can't get the fullscreen layer to play at all. The menu partially loads when you select fullscreen, and then the player chokes on it. Widescreen layer is unaffected. Dr. No and FRWL are both intact. (I watched all three synced up to the Criterion MP3's a couple months back.)
A quick glance at FRWL reveals more info top and bottom, but some image loss at the sides.
I think that's a promo still from the ill fated attempt to pair Daniels and Baker in an adventure series in the wake of Star Wars fever. Roaming the country catching evil doers who failed to buy a tv license didn't exactly make for compelling weekend viewing. ;)

Nelvana did the Boba Fett cartoon for the Holiday Special, so they had already had done a pilot of sorts. IIRC, even Nelvana was shipping the drawings out to Japan to be inked, painted and filmed in the 80's.
Any studio that could make Rock and Rule is pretty cool in my book.

The Blu Ray mixes should be essentially what was on the UE DVD's, except lossless.
I haven't dipped into my copies much beyond watching the extras and listening to the commentaries yet.
