The best part in that movie is when Wilfred Brimley says "fuck" under his breath. I guess George was asleep in the editing room. Maybe he made the mistake of watching the movie.

Wookieepedia claims this was debunked.

Then again, it sure sounds like someone yells "Die F*cker!" in ROTJ as the super star destroyer crashes into the Death Star...

I'm surprised nobody has deconstructed the film as a metaphor for George's marital issues at the time.

Disregarding the EU, I'd like to see Cindel come back as a New Republic ambassador to Endor, have a tender reunion with Wicket that becomes a steamy affair. Then, everything is upended by a very much alive Mace, (no, the first one) who's gone all Colonel Kurtz, and now rules the Dulocks.

Bring back Wilford Brimley too, and fess up to the the fact his character and Teek represented the first old gay couple in the SW franchise. ;)

I'm only in my early 20s... has the past year actually been way more destructive with all these evil acts happening, or is it just the fact that I'm starting to tune into the news more? Dark Knight Massacre, Newtown Massacre, Boston Marathon Massacre, not to mention the stream of shootings here in Seattle lately...

Prayers for everyone who was there, and their families.

Bad things have happened throughout history. I can recall some pretty awful and tragic events in the 80's and 90's. We simply learn about them much faster these days, and there are more cameras in more places than ever before. There has also been the spectre of copycats in the wake of such events.

Hopefully, some of those cameras caught an image of the bastards who did this.

IIRC, the BBC used to offer "movie edits" of the Tom Baker stories. When I lived in N.J. in the 70's, the local PBS station switched to showing these on the weekends with great fanfare. I think it was one episode every weeknight before that.

The L.A. PBS station here would show an entire story on Saturday mornings in the late 80's, early 90's, but in it's original episodic form. I'm kind of used to watching a story all in one go as a result.

My cousin works in Boston, and thankfully she's okay. Couldn't talk to her very long, as she's helping a co worker try to find a family member. Also learned my other cousin got bad medical news today, so horrible day all around.

I honestly don't know what's worse, a terrorist being responsible, or just some sick minded individual(s) acting on incomprehensible motives.

Even though this was posted April 1st, the toys are real. A couple from our favorite saga made the list, along with an early bootleg item.

Not sure where they're getting the story the original Kenner Alien was somehow banned by angry parents. I still saw them on store shelves in late 1980 when I bought mine for three bucks. And yes, I still kick myself for not going back and buying more of them...

Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure (1984)

I remember the first and last time I saw this movie was back in the summer of '96. I hadn't yet seen ROTJ, so I didn't know this took place in the SW Universe. I found it an alright movie at the time, though it wasn't something I would have filed away in my category of "Awesome Movies I'd Love to See Again & Again & Again". Having watched it now, again, my feelings haven't changed all that much; it's well made for a TV film, and a decent time-waster, but nothing more than that.

You have got to see Battle For Endor now. It's like Alien 3, if it was a kid's movie. ;)

I generally loathe remakes. But, there is wiggle room when a film is based on a book or story. And a remake goes back to that source material instead of merely aping the previous adaptation.

Starlog reprinted "Who Goes There?" around the time John Carpenter's film came out, and he was able to get closer to that source material than Howard Hawks ever could have in the '50's. Carpenter did pay homage to the original film, but was subtle about it.

On the flip side of the coin, I've never been able to watch more than a few minutes of the 1999 version of The Haunting. You can't top Robert Wise's version with a lot CGI spooks. ;)

I have very mixed feelings about The Shining prequel Warner is scheming to make. Especially if it's going to be the backstory to Kubrick's film.

Idea & Info: Cinerama 70mm '2001' preservation. Is it possible?

Hopefully in a few more weeks my house will look like a sane human being lives there again. ;)

In the meantime, if you don't already know about this, Doug Trumbull's website has a ton of 2001 photos. Some of them appear to be of unused scenes and concepts.

It will be a while before I can dig them all out, as my home repairs are dragging along at the moment. (And there's a ton of stuff blocking access.)

I don't think there is much difference between the '98 and '99 DVD's, as Warner's was mostly reissuing the MGM films under their banner at the time. I have the MGM DVD and the later "remastered" Warner disc.

Start a new thread for it then? And for the record, I recall seeing a tv interview with her right before the Falklands War, quoting some long dead British military fellow to justify her impending actions, and she came off as quite pompous to me. So, I wasn't a big fan of hers. I laughed pretty hard at that line in the first Austin Powers film too.

I heard she once mistook a parrot for a MI6 agent.
