Alas, Titan A.E. was a Fox film. I could see Palpatine enjoying all the planetary destruction in it though. ;)

Another thought. With Lucas selling the moisture farm to the mouse, there could be a Disney joke somewhere?
Palpatine could be watching a Disney movie in his office, (those scenes where he switches off the display when someone walks in) or one of the more evil Disney songs could be playing in the background somewhere in the film.

Anakin could be screaming in agony hearing this as he's being rebuilt. Or it can be coming from his helmet as it's powered on and lowered, cutting off as it's sealed on his head. ;)

I always thought Hasbro should bring back the old Kenner Switcheroo line!
Will there there be Jar Jar version? ;)
I've been having the same problem the past few days. I started a thread in off topic. Until Jay can look into what's going on, I would avoid the front page, which apparently a lot of people bypass anyway by going to the forum url.
Thanks, Ryan. I couldn't recall the title at the moment. And wow, who knew Mr. Kurosawa was that tall?
This thread took an interesting turn!
Lucas was influenced by classic tales where supporting characters often don't have the freedoms the main hero might enjoy. The droids and their relationship with each other is thought to have been inspired by a bickering pair of servants in a Kurosawa film.
In the OT era, where aliens are second class citizens under the Empire, I don't think droid rights is as much of an issue with the populace. The cantina scene even shows a bit of droid bigotry. "We don't serve their kind here!" Whether this was meant to tie in at the time to memories of droid armies in the prequels is anyone's guess.
Luke, possibly because of growing up on a desolate rock with mostly jerks for friends, may have more affinity for his mechanical servants. I think there's a passage in the novel where he hesitates before deciding not to put Threepio's restraining bolt back on, after repairing him in Ben's home. At the same time, he isn't hesitant to put the droids in harm's way in Jedi.
I have a gut feeling that when human clones happen in real life, (sure it's outlawed, but somebody is going to do it anyway) or robots achieve a degree of sentience, many of our old prejudices will be transferred to them. After all, you don't want your daughter to marry one. ;)
When Anakin says "Grab that, keep us level!", I suddenly thought of the joystick popping up scene in Star Trek:Insurrection for some reason.
Yeah, Wedge has got to be in the movie. Maybe he's an admiral by now? They could probably lure Lawson back with promise of going out in a blaze of glory or something. If Wedge buys the moisture farm, then none of our heroes are safe!
Had it happen three times so far. Don't access the site via the front page to be on the safe side, until we figure out what's going on...
AVG freaked out when I came to the site today. (Via the front page.) "Blackhat" exploit. First time for me around here.
Apparently he's not an android...

My local cinema was selling ST Into Darkness t shirts opening week. So making an extra non overpriced food buck in the lobby isn't totally gone.
Did anyone get a "Jedi Adventure Center" display in their local mall that summer?

I thought it was a Ilia reference too. There was also an alien gal who looks like H.R. Giger's girlfriend. I think she was on the bridge in the last movie as well?
It's too bad Superman Returns is perceived as a failure simply because it didn't earn crazy ass Dark Knight levels of money. I enjoyed it.
I'll give the new version a chance, but that costume is going to take getting used to. Ever since Joel Schumacher gave Batman a butt crack and nipples, superhero outfits look more kinky than fearsome or inspiring. ;)
And it's a little spooky this question comes up as I'm trying to clean a "dismembered" Threepio action figure that had spent several years lost in a darker crevice of my house this evening. ;)
The room where Chewie finds Threepio is probably the central location from which trash is sent from all over Cloud City to be sorted out, recycled or disintegrated.
I think the confusion over who shoots Threepio stems from the voice who asks "Who are you?". It sounds nothing like a stormtrooper, (I think it's Frank Oz in the original) to avoid tipping off the audience that the Empire is already there, potentially spoiling the big reveal of Vader in the dining room later. All we know at this point in the film is something smells in Cloud City, and it's not the Ugnaughts.
Doesn't Threepio say something about stormtroopers when Chewie reactivates him?

This Jeanette Vogelpohl seems to still live at the same address, could be in her 60s. She's got a son, Scott in his 30s, who could be this individual: https://www.facebook.com/nleseul If anyone uses that website and could send a polite letter, feel free.
And I thought looking up old girlfriends was creepy and weird. ;)

Well it is all fine seeing it purely from Han's character. But realistically, I don't think many girls would find such response welcome. It is very selfish, arrogant and rude if you look at it from a girl's perspective. I doubt any of you guys is willing to try that in real life (no matter how "tough" and "cool" character you have). :)
It is almost like "I made you a dinner darling"... "I know, bring me a beer too".
How many girls are a leader in a rebellion who's had their entire planet blown up, fallen in love with a space pirate/scoundrel who was initially only interested in money to rescue her, and now have to watch said scoundrel being potentially frozen to death at gunpoint? Context is everything. ;)

TREKBBS
Oh gosh how long has that been around?
A decade at least, (I used to be a member) but I don't think it was ever something you dialed up with your trusty modem on a IBM PC XT clone or anything. ;)
Someone who clearly didn't understand Han's character.
The 2008 documentary Stanley Kubrick's Boxes actually tracked down someone who wrote a negative fan letter about 2001. I wonder how many of these non fans of ESB are still around, and if they feel the same way thirty years on?
Just think how upset a person had to be back then to actually write out a letter, and lick a stamp just to see their comments in print!
It's so darned easy today, and nobody on the editorial staff to reject your letter for being too slanderous or too deranged. ;)
I've just learned that Duracell's favorite gal is in the movie somewhere...

The lizard thing could talk like Mr Ed.
Baby Luke and Leia could talk like Mark and Carrie (e.g when Obi-Wan hand baby Luke over to Beru and Owen he could say, "This just isn't fair!"... that sort of thing).
Scary, I just picked up the Francis the Talking Mule movies on DVD just the other day. The creators of which later developed Mister Ed.
Since Obi Wan is essentially riding a horse...
Too many things to list? (Exhaust coming out of where the Shuttlecraft bay doors are located was a common error in early artwork of the Enterprise.) IIRC, the Gold Key comics were often done by people who had never actually seen a single TOS episode. But, they were the only Trek comics we had before 1979.
This looks like the comic that came with a little microfilm/filmstrip viewer toy I got at Kmart, only in glorious black and white.

And no, I'm not that old! They were still making the thing well into 1975, or else it was new old stock.
I was pretty pissed the story was incomplete and ended on a cliffhanger no less! There were no additional strips to found at Kmart either.
It was around this same time I saw what looked like a Mego Mr. Sulu. (Or was it Chekov?) I asked my Mom to get it, but no dice. (I had most of the figures plus the bridge playset already.) Never saw it again. So, I do have some sympathy for all the people who claim to have seen Luke throw the grappling hook twice in 1977. ;)
