The Star Wars Mono-logy (a 3-in-1 OT Edit: hard drive failure ended the project)

Maybe there is some way to have Vader communicating with him in Empire? If putting him on a Executor viewscreen isn't doable, it could just be on audio as there's too much interference to send a visual signal in the asteroid field.

Cushing did enough films the proper words you would need him to say have to be out there...

Interesting idea you've got for an edit. :)

Star Wars prequels were mapped out in 1981, only nothing like the way they turned out

Interesting catch. Maybe Lucas thought people wouldn't be able to follow the plot? ;)

Historically speaking, isn't the whole point of a decoy being absolutely as far away from you as possible? Their whole job is to be a diversion/take a bullet for you. Half the galaxy must know she uses them after TPM.

AOTC almost does it right, but one wonders why Padme didn't take an economy flight from Naboo the same way she returns there. The escort fighters could have just as easily been blown out of the sky. Frink has proven this. :P

And I'm overthinking the prequels again. Darn you George!

The LD soundtrack would be dicey, if my experience with Grease is any indication. Neither film got a digital sound remaster, and they were released very early in the format without CX noise reduction. What I got off the LD sounded very mediocre.

I fared better with a mid 90's VHS tape, although I had to do it twice to cover some tracking errors. A Beta Hi Fi tape might yield better results as I seldom have audio dropout issues.

IIRC, there was an expanded Limited Edition CD soundtrack release this past year.

Giving it back to Marvel simply because Disney owns them just seems like a decision only an accountant would make. Is the Dark Horse license up any time soon?

I meant after Dark Horse's license expires. Marvel WILL get the license back at that point. Giving a license to a competitor is simply not how corporations work.

Dark Horse has been publishing Dinsey comics and selling other Mouse merchandise since the 90's though. Disney didn't buy Marvel for the comics, they bought it for the movies they can make from the characters.

Do you really want to see a Vader Vs. Doctor Doom comic? Because they will do that, wait and see. ;)

Bad puns and jokes are brutalizing? The OP was borderline spam to begin with.

Bad puns and jokes can come off that way to new members.  Borderline spam, huh.  I wonder what over-the-line spam looks like?  Maybe it comes in a torn cardboard box instead of a can .....

;)

A good rule of thumb is to lurk for a while, and get the feel of a forum. I did that for months before I ever got the nerve to post here.

Star Wars Restaurant!!!

I imagine Disney is working on some sort of eatery. (Hopefully outside the parks, so I don't have to drop a hundred bucks just to get in and try it.) It will probably be based on the Cantina or Jabba's throne room. Sort of Chuck E Cheese's meets wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Disney will keep it way too family friendly, so there's little hope of scantly clad green alien chicks or Slave Leia's serving drinks.

If you look at these:

You can see the slight fluctuations between all three. The SE master added more color depth and in places more correct tones due to the scan being far more advanced. It also preserves the frame, as the old master was cropped on all sides. I'll need to check my LD just to make sure there are no differences.

The SR stereo mix is a beast, with huge low end that frequently creeps in, and the LD preserves this without the analog distortion and noise ceiling found on the print version. Especially the sibilance.

The other thing is that the film is surprisingly soft looking. The print had this almost to the point of appearing slightly fuzzy in some scenes. It isn't a sharp picture, in fact looking more like there was continual use of slight diffusion throughout. I think the photography is far more intricate than that of the first film. Burton even imposed some Kane like trick shots with extreme close focus on a subject while maintaining deep focus on a subject in the background. Because of their lack of experience in this it left some telltale errors. (Shot of Schreck coming into Penguin's upstairs lair with Pengy in the extreme foreground writing. Both are in focus, yet if you look closely at about the center of the frame, there is a thick gauze of haziness in that area due to the optical attempting to cover the join of the two separate pieces of film.)

Are you sure those shots were not achieved in camera via a split focus diopter?

Lol---just imagine the likes of Elisium,Pacific Rim and Transformers being released on VHS.

So many of these movies are marketed on just how good looking they are(both for Cinema and Home video).

Take away the good looks courtesy of High Defintion 2K/4K digital Cinema or 2K Blu Ray  and there is not much left.

I can watch Citizen Kane or Das Boot or All Quiet On The Western Front or Star Wars on VHS or a Sony 4K projector..

It makes no difference what the format is.

They are great films.

 Stranger things have happened. ;)

I've probably mentioned this before, but Derann did release BATB, Aladdin, and several other classics complete on Super 8. Whether they are in their original aspect ratios, I have no idea.

On a side note, does anyone know how many workprints are out there? (Aside from BATB Work in Progress.) I had at least one back in the 90's, but it was on the tail end of a bootleg tape of The Black Cauldron and incomplete as a result.
