The DVD has the score in 5.1 though. Every track in the film is present, including source music.
I got the Teac the other day, but I don't have the space or time to fiddle with it right now. My house is disaster area again until the bathroom is finished.

Rear projection? That's how the travel pod shot in Star Trek TMP was achieved.
Noisy cameras were an issue when the industry transitioned to talking pictures. Cameras were put into soundproof enclosures that made them even more huge, and like rolling a small truck around on the set.
You'd think there would be a lightweight soundproof solution for the IMAX cameras.
The one local to me is pretty big. Other theater chains have giant screens now with different names.
Some people turn their noses up at digital Imax though, calling it "LieMax". I don't know the actual specs myself, but the screen is still pretty huge.
Something with the look of the "Mother" interface would be cool.
Are you preserving the DTheater bumper? I've never seen one.
The only critics I ever paid attention to have sadly joined the choir invisible, and trailers often are misleading.
CGI isn't the problem here. It's that those in charge think it's the only tool in the drawer.
Doesn't Fox still have distribution rights though? (At least for the first film.) Why is Disney even involved?

The problem is that the money men in Hollywood see CGI as better, faster, cheaper. Even if it's not actually true in practice, the suits believe it. A portion of Men In Suits covered how many creature performers had a long dry spell when producers saw CGI as the solution to every problem.
A bit hard to know if you'll like a movie until you pay to see it though.
The Hobbit conundrum is easily solved by seeing the 24fps version. There still aren't a whole lot of theaters that can show 48fps yet. If Jackson is the only one pushing to shoot in the format, it will end up an interesting footnote in cinema history.

Grevious never struck me as the sharpest knife in the drawer. Smart henchmen who aren't fooled by you wearing a hood and keeping your face in perpetual shadow are too much of a liability anyway.

Lucas once wanted to be the guy working outside the Hollywood system. He seems to have ended up becoming just like those he was rebelling against.
I don't see anything wrong with wanting to live in that universe. I sure wouldn't want to live in The Matrix for example.
Disney Imagineers are probably hard at work on how to immerse people in the SW universe. Much like how visitors to Universal Studios in Florida can run around in Harry Potter's world.

Don't know if they're out on DVD, but the 60's cartoons of Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, and Captain America are worth checking out. The animation is even more crude than Spidey, but is comparable to the motion comics done today.
There's also Hanna Barbera's take on the Fantastic Four from the same era.
So, you don't think people who bust their ass to make a practical creature work on the set, (and without harming the actors) only to find out it's all been replaced by CGI when they sit down to see the movie, might have a legitimate axe to grind?
Okay, nobody is on a crusade against Peter Jackson here. We're not all plugged into every aspect of the Hobbit's production.
And speaking as someone with a little costuming experience, if the masks were causing the actors breathing difficulties and safety issues, then they were poorly designed. I'll bet this didn't happen on the LOTR films.
And if you don't understand why some of us have issues with CGI that does convince the eye it's a living breathing creature, you've missed one reason this site even exists.
