Recent photo of a corridor at LAX. I'm fairly certain the row of Unichapel phone booths were shot here, as was one shot of the monks. The wall mural can clearly be seen in the film. It's been in many other films since then as well.

Bonus points if you know what 1980 movie also shot here. ;)

 Airplane! ?

 Correct!

I believe the creator of the X-Files acknowledged the influence of Night Stalker on the show.

I first saw it when CBS was running it late at night on Fridays in the mid 70's. Good creepy hide under the blankets fun!

Many people remember Darren McGavin as the dad in A Christmas Story, but he will always be intrepid reporter Carl Kolchak to me.

The "edited for Televison" caption was video generated, therefore I believe ABC added it.

Whatever version Thistv is running, it's old, it's pan and scan, it's hissy, and it's mono. (The only thing I've seen them run in widescreen, is the later seasons of Stargate SG-1. And those are probably the same letterbox SD masters Sci-Fi had.) I'm still wondering where they got a pan and scan of the restored Lawrence of Arabia, as I never even saw a full frame VHS of that.

In the 90's, I taped later syndicated broadcasts of TWOK in vain, hoping the extra footage would be there. It was always the theatrical cut.

There are much newer pan and scan masters they could have used, and somehow this gets pulled from the vault.

There were some more cruder breaks put in. These don't have fade outs though.

Yes, but I doubt the rebels have a lot of parts on hand that would fit the Falcon. (We never see them using a similar ship.) Plus, it's hard to swing by the local intergalactic Pep Boys when bounty hunters are out looking for you.

In one of the Brian Daley books, Han and Chewie had to make do with parts that really were inferior, as there was nothing else they could get. Han even expresses his desire to rip all that stuff out at the earliest opportunity.

I think it was in the deleted sandstorm scene Han had dialog indicating a state of consciousness while frozen, implying there was a sense of the passage of time. Pretty scary since he was frozen for a while.

I imagine the Falcon is in great shape. It was just the limited resources from hiding out with the rebellion that made maintenance an issue.

In many ways, the Falcon is "home" to our heroes as much as the Enterprise is to Kirk and company.

We didn't get enough of the MF in Jedi, and we never got a scene with Han properly reunited with her. Even Star Trek 4 had a homecoming scene. The Klingon Bird of Prey's bridge set changed from Trek III to give the characters that familiar positioning. Kirk would have looked silly sitting on Kruge's high chair.

The ROTJ deleted scenes with anonymous rebels running around in the Falcon is sort of like watching strangers who have moved into your old house.

There is no beloved hunk of junk in the prequels, and the Jedi seem to change ships more than their socks. ;)

I have my doubts the ABC broadcast was time compressed. It ran in a three hour timeslot. (ThisTV is running it in a two hour thirty minute slot.) There were less commercials per hour in those days as well.

It may have more to do with my horrid analog cable system at the time, combined with being recorded in the four hour LP mode.
