You know, I couldn't care less if they were made with CGI. My primary concern is with the storyline and characters. Of course I put a lot of weight on visuals as well but that is in a sense of design. If the design of the stuff is good then it doesn't matter how it is realised (i.e. whether real props or CGI).

For example that lightsabre design is stupid. The fact that it might be a real prop doesn't change the fact that it is stupid.

I'm not against CGI troopers. It would make perfect sense if you need to see 3000 troopers running over a hill. It's silly to do it for a simple scene like this...

The story goes that some ILM guys were practically begging George to have some real Clone Trooper outfits made.

We should all be happy as clams to have flesh and blood guys in real Stormtrooper armor again. I was on the fence about the updated design until I saw the teaser, but it's growing on me.

And echoing what Poita said, if I can feel like I did that first time in 1977, (or 1980 for that matter) J.J. and his crew will have done their job. :)

It just occurred to me that Sith Saber might truly be an "ancient weapon". Handed down, or maybe belongs to somebody who's been hibernating for a long time?

In that case, they should have went with using a Sith sword or some other equivalent weapon instead of that dumbass-looking lightsaber. It'd pull off "ancient handed-down weapon" a whole lot better than a light-crossguard does.

Probably coincidental, but it does remind me of the saber belonging to a certain crazy old man Han met early in the Marvel run.

Is it really any more goofy than this one? ;)

I think I prefer the other teaser with Rick Astley.

On a side note, Youtube pulling fake trailers for "deceptive marketing" is kind of insulting, and sets a bad precedent. If anything, a fake trailer falls under parody and fair use. If Saturday Night Live can use Song of The South and other Disney footage in a TV Funhouse bit, and then sell it on a DVD...
