If they republish the originals, that would make up for it a tad. (If only they could include the original ads and letters page.) It's still shabby treatment of the book that arguably turned Marvel's fortunes around in the 70's. They sold a ton of the movie adaptation, and it was reprinted so many times, I've lost count.

It's a safe bet Thomas and Chaykin don't benefit from this financially?

Weren't Chaykin and co trying to do something else so they sabotaged Star Wars, that's why ended up with so much delightful goofy nonsense?

What? Roy Thomas is the one who lobbied Stan Lee to adapt the movie in the first place. And this is after Lucas initially approached Marvel about a Star Wars comic and was turned down.

Just like you have to reject the OT in order to properly dismiss the PT, right? Oh, wait, you don't.

Jackson has not made a good film since Return of the King. He is the George Lucas of the Southern Hemisphere.

He's not George. Unless he goes back and puts CGI characters into Meet The Feebles. ;)

Time to start eBay reporting again?

I actually got my copy from eBay in the late 90s.  At the age of 12, I didn't realize it was an illegal copy since it came in a hard VHS case with some professional looking artwork.  The price was good and the listing said it was very rare, so I jumped on it. :-)

Don't feel too bad, there were really only two ways to get it back then. You either bought a copy at a con, or tape traded for it. Even Weird Al bought a copy in a back alley. ;)

Flaws, plotholes, and "could-have-been-done-betters" in the OT (alternate plot points especially welcome)

I suspect the little things that would have beefed up the Ewoks as fighters, (and conveyed they were faring poorly against Imperial forces) were toned down or eliminated in the editing room. It's amazing a shot of an Ewok holding an Imperial blaster did make the final cut.

ROTJ footage of Ewoks with guns made it into Battle For Endor.
