It still can, I think DS9 is more relevant today than when it first aired. Pity it doesn't seem to be running anywhere on tv these days.

Is it really any stranger than paying someone to give you a massage? ;)
I've long thought Vader's look was based on ancient Sith armor. Palpatine did not just pick it at random or make up something scary on his own.
Yes, it's the fellow with the controversial lightsaber. ;)

Wouldn't surprise me if they scanned the actors during production.

Erm, Lin's not actually just an action director, you know? After Tokyo Drift, I honestly didn't think I'd ever feel the need to defend him, but he is exceptionally good at his job when on form. Modern Warfare, Interpretive Dance and Introduction To Statistics are three of the finest things I have ever seen. Sure, one of those is based on action conventions, but still. The other two most definately are not. I agree with Silverwook, bit off beat, but interesting, and I think he could do alright.
And since when was the director so important? I remember a time when all that mattered was that Kirk was in it with his crew. And then Picard with his crew. And they were doing cool things. IN SPACE! (Athough in reality, Picard and his crew never really showed up. Just some angry old man with some familiar looking guys that did stuff for him).
A director with a little familiarity with the source material, and a knowledge of how to shoot an FX heavy film always helps. In other words, you don't run out and hire someone who's only done sitcoms.
The director of Nemesis allegedly thought Geordi was an alien. ;)
Watched a little TNG on BBC America today. The syndication editing is getting worse. Part of Picard telling Wesley the story of how he ended up with a artificial heart was cut!

It's real. Action figure collectors have to wait for next Christmas to get them though ;)
They could always bring back the old Kenner Early Bird Certificates. ;)
I think so. I've read elsewhere Hasbro asked a site to take that photo down.
millenniumfalcon.com has some other recently leaked concept art.
Well, TAS could still bring it up to three.
Has anybody ever done an edit of that scene, where one of the bulbs burns out at a key moment? ;)
Hey! ;)

Frink and Possessed it's the holidays and you two are being a scrooges or a Grinches. i understand this about empire revisited but adywan won't have another update on the project until 2015 and there hasn't been besides suggestions are closed anyway. can't people talk about star wars related stuff on here it's really not hurting anyone.
We have another forum for general Star Wars discussion. Kindly use it instead of cluttering up this thread with chatter unrelated to the project. Thanks!

Interesting if offbeat choice. Need I remind anyone he isn't writing the script?
Ignoring modern Trek is as easy as ignoring certain TOS season 3 episodes. ;)

Well it's that time of year again, so I'd just like to wish adywan and all the other denizens of OT.com a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS!
Where are Ackmena and Krelman? ;)
I think Frink has already said he will use Dare To Be Stupid at that key moment. My thought is to have Wipeout kick in from the moment the gantry falls into the lava.
I like the Ventures version slightly better, (I have it on a mini CD single, one of the first CD's I ever bought) but it doesn't have the creepy voice though.
They were doing their own take on Seven Samurai when Jaxxon appeared. You'd think Lucas of all people would appreciate lifting from Kurosawa. But, nooooooooooo!
People seldom notice the villain in the story is based on Mad Magazine artist Sergio Aragones.
Thomas created Jaxxon as a Bugs Bunny homage, not to "sabotage" the comic. (Lucas was a Looney Tunes fan, and even wanted Duck Dogers in the 24 1/2 Century to play in front of the film at one point.) Seriously, like a six foot rabbit would look out of place in the cantina scene?
If I haven't suggested this before, 60's surf music during the duel over the lava? ;)

Cropping TV shows/movies filmed in fullscreen to make them widescreen is just as bad as doing the opposite in my book.
Making you pay more for the original fullscreen versions, (as Universal is plotting to do with the forthcoming 1978 Battlestar Galactica Blu Ray set) is downright criminal.
Will be interesting to see what they air in the future!
It might come as a shock to some people that I've never seen any of Ady's edits. (Aside from some clips.) If he chooses to use his real name on them, that's his choice, but this site largely thrives on the anonymity of it's members.
Expressing criticism is fine, but coming into this thread to do so can only be viewed as provocative. (Start a thread in off topic if you're so inclined.) Unlike Lucas' creative choices the past 17 years, it's easy enough to avoid a fan edit you don't like.

Taking our money?! It's our choice if we wish to donate to Adywan's cause as we know it's going to be something worthwhile, and the wait matters not - as he does have a life! It's his choice what he does so respect that at least! Seems to me like you let those clown podcasters at MakingStarWars.net decide your latest post jeez!
I don't know those podcasters. I'm very capable of formulating my own opinions about things, rather than relying on pack mentality like some of you.
What's really interesting is that I know from previous experience than quite a few members of these boards share some of my feelings on this, but prefer not to incur the wrath of the short-sighted. That's understandable. It doesn't matter, I'm not afraid to call it for what it is.
Yet, you pop up right on the heels of said podcast. Do not use the real name of a member in here again. First and last warning.
Educational filmstrips. Nothing quite like them today. ;)
I also realized the very first episode of the animated Star Trek may have been inspired by the film.
Spooky, I just watched the new Blu Ray of Planet of the Vampires the other night. (A huge step up from the early 2000's DVD.) Surely you can appreciate all the in camera effects, (Mario Bava was a master at this) and how much of Alien is lifted from it. ;)
The derelict alien ship and it's dead crew seriously creeped me out as a kid.
I do agree about the ending, (although the film drops subtle hints early on these people aren't from here) and it's impossible to figure out how or when two characters got taken over at the end.
The most awesome hotel, ever!
