What is your personal Star Trek canon?

Insurrection wasn't bad, it just felt like a TV episode that they shot too much for and forgot to edit down to 45 minutes.

They never should have cut the Quark cameo. ;)

It's unfortunate that they didn't use the expensive Enterprise E model from First Contact at all in favor of going all CGI. The spaceship shots in the film haven't aged well.

My parents also still have a VCR connected to the old huge CRT in my brother's room and my little brother still watches a lot of old cartoons and stuff on VHS.

I was thinking about getting a second-hand VCR, because I thought it would be cool to be able to play some of my old Star Wars VHS tapes but my monitor only has HDMI and VGA, so I'd have no way to connect it.

 There is another option...

I've seen these up close, and they seem well made. Certainly not the feather light 98% plastic of early 2000's decks. The only downside is mono sound only.

No, this was before it became communist China. But me trying to start a discussion, albeit tongue-in-cheek, quickly spiraled downward.

As someone who didn't make it out of the early 1990's until a few years ago (hell, I still have/use a VCR), I have no knowledge of what TFN was like before about 2012. Was it once a website worth visiting? When did it become a dystopian 1984 type place?

It was always pretty bad, it's just that the "group think" got worse over time. I'm sure the other guys here can give you a better timeline. Again, this was about 13 years ago, but I made a mild bathroom humor thread in the off topic forum. It was deleted and I was told that there was no room for "potty humor" or whathaveyou on the boards since it was geared towards being family friendly. My argument that there's poop jokes IN THE F'ING MOVIES fell on deaf ears.

Only George is allowed to make poop jokes. ;)

I made the mistake of using the email link on the front page to contact him. It's spammed almost to the point of being useless. I have his proper email now, so that won't happen again.

Christmas vacation does extend to New Years for some people. It was just rotten timing this outage happened at a time of year when people are focused on other things. If I had a life, I might not have noticed the outage until it was over myself.

To the best of our knowledge at this point, nothing sinister is going on.

Why the heck can't they contact an actor directly and bypass the lower level minions? A lot of misunderstandings seem to be a direct result of this.

With Sisko becoming the Kwisatz Haderach of the Wormhole aliens, and Dukat becoming a two dimensional villian, I prefer to pretend the final season mostly never happened anyway.

Just the thought of Dukat banging Kai Winn makes me somewhat queasy. ;)

Did any of you walk out of the theatre for any of the Star Wars prequels?

I blame Joel Schumacher. He took Batman so far down into the abyss, that a dark gritty "realistic" reboot was inevitable.

Having gotten that off my chest, I might have walked out on my first veiwing of ROTS, as the sound was terrible. (Like AM radio mono terrible.) The theater was so crammed full of people on opening day, I would have had to physically climb over people just to complain. Thank goodness there wasn't time to order a large soda before it started!

The mads turn off the oxygen supply in the rest of the satellite, so no. ;)

Seriously though, I don't think I've ever walked out on a film. And I've seen some doozies. The sole exception was an auditorium that had some rough looking characters, who were already acting up during the previews. As I was the only other person in the theater, it seemed prudent to bail.

I would ask for a refund if I did walk because of a bad movie. I've noticed people seldom think they have the right to do so though.
