Is there any way you can borrow someone's VCR? Capturing audio is the easiest route, as you don't really need the video.

Bakshi's LOTR only hit LD in Japan and is hard to come by even today. An NTSC Betamax copy might be a good source for capturing the soundtrack. Was the Blu Ray mix that bad?

I liked that the baddie was an old concept Jabba(?) design I recall seeing in one of the The Art Of... books. Can't recall if it was a McQuarrie or Joe Johnston sketch. The protocol droid is definitely McQuarrie's proto Threepio design.
Speaking of that droid, it vanished into thin air when Hera made her escape. Animation error? And what was up with that Imperial's hat being so low? It a wonder he can see where he's going.

Really? I always felt that it was left more ambiguous. Like no one believed her but she actually did go to Oz. I do hope that Miss Gulch died a horrible death by getting sucked into the tornado and Dorothy never had to deal with her again.
I think the liner notes to the 50th anniversary release stated it was a dream vs. it really happened in the book. (It could always be wrong.) Unless returning to Kansas involved time travel, Dorothy doesn't seem to have been gone very long. The time spent in Oz seems like it was a few days at least.
Miss Gulch may have had a legitimate gripe, but she comes off as an unpleasant person at best. Auntie Em actually wants to swear at her. Uncle Henry should have at least offered to pay damages to defuse the situation, but then we probably wouldn't have a movie.
In the meantime, where the heck did the Scarecrow get a gun? Forget the hanging munchkin, this is the real mystery!

From what I've read and heard, people who get really lost in real life (and are unprepared/inexperienced to begin with) start doing incredibly stupid things, witch or no witch.
Depends on the tapes and the players. Post 2000 VCR's tend to be cheaply made, and have more plastic than metal in them. DVD/VHS combo machines are still on the market as well.
I have tapes from the 80's and 90's that have held up pretty well. I don't play them to death though.

IIRC, the PSA with the droids Puggo got a hold of was 16mm.
There seems to have been three PSA's made. One for immunization, one anti smoking, (both with the droids) and the drunk driving one.
I wonder if that's the Cantina set made for the Holiday Special?
If only a 16mm of that PSA would turn up.

That's one thread I don't think has been ported over yet.
They all have their backs to the camera, so you could cheat it. Have him faintly repeating the lines to his captors to no avail. ;)
