And now Disney comes in to make us pine for the glory days of Hayden Christensen.

Not humanly - or inhumanly - possible. I'm hard pressed to come up with a performance in all of film history that I hate as much as I despise that mushmouthed, testosterone-deficient, barely sentient canuck mannequin's rendition of that character ostensibly meant to be the selfsame Darth Vader we all know and love.

TFA might be good. It might be bad. But in the whole of the spectrum of possible outcomes, nothing exists that would ameliorate in the slightest the absolute nadir of cinematic dramaturgy that Hayden Christensen's performance as that male character inexplicably named "Annie" represents.

Whatever your opinion of Hayden's acting, I don't think he deserves such insults. I've seen plenty of his non Star Wars films, and he's actually pretty good in them. Tone it down, please?

THX 1138 "preservations" + the 'THX 1138 Italian Cut' project (Released)
Time

Aw, you guys. :) *blush*

THX certainly has turned into this rabbit hole we've not seen the bottom of yet.

The 80's Japanese LD of The Shining had the blue closing credits too. (I don't have it anymore, but I might still have a capture of it lying around.) I think it somehow slipped by Stanley in those early days of home video. He certainly didn't sign off on the blurring of Ms. 237's nether regions. If you've ever seen the tv version she's surrounded by fog, (which apparently was SK approved) which makes the scene even more creepy in a way.

I don't know if the version that runs on AMC these days is like the ABC tv cut. I tried once or twice to snag a vintage betamax of the ABC broadcast on Ebay, but struck out.

I wish I could recall how THX was censored when I first saw it on tv in the late 70's. Certainly all that illegal sexual activity had to go. ;)

The official "Who is going to Star Wars Celebration, Anaheim California, April 2015?" thread
Time

You lucky guy! As a kid I thought living close to Disneyland would be awesome, but as an adult, I realized that means lots of fireworks throughout the year. ;)

In the 80's I saw at least one house that was sort of boxed in by the outer fence on the back end or side of the park property. I'm guessing the owners didn't want to sell back in the day, and Disney had to build around them. Wonder if it's still there?

Considering some of the projects Hayden's been in lately seem to go direct to video, (Frink knows what I'm talking about) it's nice to see him cast in a major production again.

Not to be rude to him or whatever, but... why? He's terrible in everything I've seen him in (the 2 PT movies and... Jumper? Looper? ...Something like that.)

Hayden was excellent in Shattered Glass. I only watched it to find dialog to help Frink with his edit, and it was compelling from beginning to end.

Even though I can't stand tear jerkers, (another one I endured for Frink) Hayden was great as the angsty drug abusing teen in Life As A House.

The stop motion robots in the film are great. Definitely a Ray Harryhausen homage going on there, and references to other fantasy and sci fi. The alien judge looks like he escaped from Invaders From Mars.

I have a fondness for all these movies that jumped on the Star Wars bandwagon back then. (Battle Beyond The Stars is arguably top of the heap.) Most are endearingly goofy than bad. Even Lucas once said knew SW would be copied if it was successful, and he wanted to sit back and enjoy the copies.

I've honestly never heard of Star Crash before today...

What are you talking about? Unless...are you referring to TPM?

I can never tell if this kind of density is a shtick.

Ooh, I see you're headed towards a ban.  This should be fun.

Also, I've never heard of Star Crash either.

You're welcome. :)

I've seen every episode of MST3K (even all the extant KTMAs) and I've seen Starcrash almost as many times as Star Wars... and yet I've never managed to see this.

Bless you, SilverWook.

Of all the fan productions around, these guys come closest to the real thing.

Took me literally 5 minutes, and I consider it sloppy and rushed. How the hell the official version got okayed though is utterly beyond me.

 Post of the day! :)

Mind if I post that to the Twitter?

No problem, I'd be honoured :)

Edit: Just followed you too, though I don't really use twitter.

Thanks! I don't use it much either. ;)

Besides my personal bias against using the r word, it's become a joke and an insult intended to shut down any serious discussion by those on the other side of the OOT argument. There are better analogies one can use, even if they are more verbose.
