General Star Wars Random Thoughts Thread
Time

Was in Target to grab some groceries this evening. They sure do have a lot of Star Wars stuff now! I think half the Halloween costumes are Star Wars. And some prequel characters are represented.

Will be interesting to see how many people dress up as characters from a movie that won't be out until Christmas time.

I also saw an "angry teddy bear" mask that looks like a crazed Ewok.

Almost impulse bought an Artoo kitchen timer, but I have two ordinary timers already.

I didn't linger in the toy aisle too long to avoid accidental spoilers, but the BB-8 display was neat. And those four foot tall(!) action figures made me a little envious that Kenner never thought of such a thing way back when.

Much to my surprise, they had cheap lookalike electronic lightsabers in the dollar section. I recall Fox going after such copycat items in the old days, and considering the real deal is on the other side of the store, it's a little strange. I'm sure Disney isn't going to like it.

Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

Uuuuuuuuugh, that damn Boba Fett rumor. That one has always seemed particularly stupid. Von Sydow is decades too old.

Wasn't it established in The Clone Wars that clones eventually age faster as a side effect of the process that accelerates their growth into adults? There was even a clone who worked at the cloning facility that was prematurely aged.

Even though Boba was "unaltered", he could still have the aging issue.

Would you want to see Anakin or Obi Wan in the new trilogy, portrayed by their PT actors?

I wouldn't mind if Vader appears in Rogue One with Hayden kickin' around inside the suit, if he really wants to. But Hayden in the sequel trilogy doesn't compute.

Even if Vader appears in Rogue One, why use Hayden? He may have buffed up for the prequels, but his scene as the masked Darth Vader made it very clear that he's no David Prowse.

I agree that I don't really want him to appear in the sequel trilogy. Partly because I'm not a fan of his performance, even though I believe Lucas' inept direction to be partially responsible, and partly because Anakin's story has been told.

If it's little more than a cameo in Rogue One, getting Prowse back in the Vader suit would be a nice way for the new regime to put all those years of acrimony with George to rest.

I met John Landis, He's a nice guy. I wen't to a screening of American Werewolf in London where he was releasing / signing his new book. "Monsters in the Movies"

I don't think it's something he would make up, so he knows something, and has shared it and he's obviously excited about it too.

A Very Warm person is John Landis.

While I would never call Landis a "nice guy" (especially after the Twilight Zone incident) but I really hope he's correct.

Same here. I really like his films but I can't get over what happened on that set. They really shouldn't have even made that movie to be honest.
