What should we see in IX?

Kidding aside: I’d be completely ok with that. He’s the first voice we heard in 1977. Only fitting that he’d be the last one we hear at the end.

If this is really closing out the saga, it might just be a flash forward with Threepio telling the whole story to a group again. That would certainly align with Lucas’ stated intent for our favorite droids.

The Last Jedi- Full Movie Re-Edit

I believe he technically broke any rules here with his only two posts. Even if one could assume that insulting the forum in a live youtube video could be seen as breaking a few ones…

Our thinking at the time was an outright ban would only add to his narrative as he made the forum look like the bad guy without ever dropping the name. Who would ever have thought we would get some of that anti-TLJ Disney and Lucasfilm love? The angry villagers with pitchforks and torches in that chat stream was disturbing to see to say the least. That a banned member was fanning the flames in the chat didn’t help either.

Ivan hasn’t been logged in here for over a year, but if it makes everybody sleep better at night…

Help Wanted: The Wizard of Oz (1939) - Fan Preservation ( unfinished project )

They were always intended to be sepia tone. The set for the shot where Dorothy opens the door was painted in sepia tones. It’s what makes the transition to technicolor more startling. The 50th anniversary release touted the restoration of the sepia tone.
Why prior reissue prints and the annual tv broadcasts lost the sepia I have no idea.

Since Star Wars is supposed to have saved Marvel financially, and boosted the industry in general, didn’t it make the other comics he worked after it possible?

Maybe in a perfect world you get to choose what people remember you for, but not in this one. One should be grateful people want you to sign stuff at all.
Stephen King keeps ragging on Kubrick for The Shining, but he has signed items related to the movie, not just his novel, and gave his blessing to the movie adaptation of his sequel Dr. Sleep tying into the Kubrick film. I don’t think he has ever knocked the fans of the film.

Star Wars may not be Chaykin’s finest work, but it meant a heck of a lot to a generation of kids back in the 70’s.

Star Wars trilogy box sets coming next year?

The Last Jedi and Solo are already available on UHD. I see the previous Marvel movies are being released on UHD. The Force Awakens and Rogue One can’t be far behind. I’d expect the Original Trilogy special editions to arrive on UHD eventually. I see nothing to cause expectations for the unaltered versions.

I’m fine with the versions of Rogue One and Solo we have. No need to muddy the waters with special editions of those movies as well.

I’d love to get The Force Awakens and Rogue One on UHD, but I will not by the special editions of The Original Trilogy again, ever. I think the prequels (AotC and RotS) would have to be upscaled from 1080p for release on UHD so also not interested.

The only reason I’d sit through the special editions again would be if they released them in 3D theatrically. I’d watch them just to see the trench run, walkers on Hoth, and speeder bikes all in 3D.

You don’t want to see any of the alternate footage shot that was scrapped? There’s practically two alternrate versions of these films.
With five versions of Blade Runner in existence I don’t see how alternate cuts of R1 and Solo is going to muddy anything.

Upcoming movies

I was laboring mightily not to say that. I’m not saying the Splits are an unassailable classic or anything, but this just seems wrong. It’s one thing for someone to do a parody, (like when Robot Chicken crosses Scooby Doo with Friday the 13th) but I can’t imagine William Hanna and Joseph Barbera ever signing off on such a thingas this. What’s next? Snagglepuss as a gay serial killer?

I’ve read elsewhere Warner Bros. was going to make the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie until the deal fell through. This feels like a ripoff of that.

And kudos for the Glum quote. My Mom would invoke him when I needed to be reminded things aren’t as hopeless as they seem. 😃

In my opinion , the documentary , From Star Wars To Jedi The Making Of A Saga is the Gold Standard of all official Star Wars documentaries to date.

What about Empire of Dreams?

I love Star Wars more, but Dangerous Days: Making Blade Runner is my favorite making-of doc.

Check out Hearts of Darkness (making of Apocalypse Now) and Burden of Dreams (making of Fitzcarraldo). Probably the two best “making of” docs ever made, both arguably better than the movies they document.

The Making Of Legend: Gone With The Wind is another great doc.

I thought Empire of Dreams was decent but dragged in places , I like the look into the creative process that From Star Wars To Jedi gives more though . I am surprised it has never been released on a modern format.I have a vhs copy of it that came with my 92 Widescreen Vhs boxset .And , yeah , Dangerous days was fantastic !

They had to make room on the Blu Ray extras for all those previously released Robot Chicken sketches. 😛

All Things Star Trek

No recent rumors I know of. It just seems a waste not to revisit the idea in some form. They could do it retro 60’s style and recast. Every time I see Trek IV, I think it would have been lovely to have had Robert Lansing in a cameo, quietly observing Kirk and Spock in the background somewhere, but not revealing himself.

I’m also a fan of Roddenberry’s Spectre which has sadly never even been on video.

Amazingl that it took five decades to figure out just who actually played Gary Seven’s shapeshifting feline companion in human form!

I always forget about this, then I’ll see a clip or a quote and, man, that’s just SO bad.
Hilariously stupid.

That heartwarming scene with Yoda training them in AOTC was ruined for me by knowing that they all have to be dead by the third film, which probably wasn’t what Lucas was aiming for. I call them Deadlings as a result.
