Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

There might be wiggle room on that as Yoda looks a tad younger in TLJ, or at least happier.

Luke probably didn’t know what young Anakin even looked like at the time, but Kylo worships his grandfather so either form could appear to him and make more sense than the SE change.

But seeing as Kylo is based on Hayden’s Anakin in many ways, having some kind of CG-Sebatsian-Shaw-voiced-by-Matt-Lanter monstrosity would be lame IMO.

Anakin could make a point about the life he could have lived had he not fallen, going from healthy Sebastian to Sebastian right after the helmet came off would emphasize that. Kylo may have ignored certain aspects of Anakin’s life soley focusing on the Vader aspect.

I never noticed Fake Mace in Episode One until someone pointed it out. It was a while before I noticed Yoda walking down the ramp in that scene as well, and it looks exactly like a little person in a suit. It may or may not be in the current version of the film though.

Nobody’s feet seem to be touching the ground in that picture. They’re all floating.
Is Yoda in that pic? I don’t see him.

Found it. He’s barely visible. Some of those background guys are repeated. Unless Naboo had a secret cloning program? 😉

Why George didn’t go back and tweak these when he’s concerned about the roof of a Wookiee hut in ROTS is a mystery.

Could simply be a repressed memory from emotional, not physical trauma, or even another form of Jedi mind trick keeping a mental image of her parents locked away for her own safety?
I found it interesting that the Sith cave in TLJ couldn’t show her what they looked like. It couldn’t even throw up a false image just to sway her?

I was trying to find an interview with George that was in Empire magazine somewhere in the early 2000s. THX had just been released on DVD so it was a tie-in piece. So like, let’s say 2004. The interviewer asked him about the new changes to the film and the quote I want to say was something like…

“Oh it’s like Star Wars. There is no original version”.

Of course I could be mistaken and this is probably paraphrasing without remembering the actual question the journalist posed but the answer he gave stuck in my brain. I don’t own any copies of this magazine any more and I don’t think there’s a transcript online.

If you do find, this, let me know.

I’d have to find a list of back issues from that year and see if George interview is one of the cover articles. Maybe they’re digital these days.

Edit: Possibly this one https://www.magazinecollectors.co.uk/empire-magazine-185-2004-johnny-depp-cover-p-6973.html

Archive.org has some back issues.

I don’t think this shmi-theory will be in IX. It doesn’t bring Anakin’s arc full circle. Only by wandering down the reylo road Anakin(Ben)'s story can be complete. There have already been enough evidence for this (similar concept arts, themes, shots) to say that the theory is pretty much a safe bet.

I’m more interested in how they will reveal that Ben is Anakin and Rey is Padme (if this is indeed the case) and how the fandom will react.

I still inexplicably saw it in theaters three times. I really needed to get out of the house at the time though. And the upside was the third time at the bargain theater I discovered there was a screening of Raiders Of The Lost Ark later in the day, so I hung around and saw it on the big screen again for the first time since 1981! 😃

So Luke wasn’t joking back in the original film? 😉

                     THREEPIO
Is there anything I might do to help?

Luke glances at the battered robot. A bit of his anger drains
and a tiny smile creeps across his face.

                       LUKE
Well, not unless you can alter time,
speed up the harvest, or teleport me
             off this rock!

So teleportation must be a thing too…
