I wonder if the rumored anti-LGBT executive order will drop

That would be interesting since Trump proclaimed himself the greatest friend to the LGBT community.

Oh wait, it would be perfectly consistent of him.

I hope to God that’s just an ugly rumor. People wouldn’t just protest this time, they might riot. You can’t keep pushing one group of people into a corner forever.

I forgot to mention every Presidential Approval Poll

That’s amazing, especially when looking at the disapproval numbers.

With the media and the establishment against him, the numbers are hardly surprising. I’m amazed he even got 45% of truly great americans to support their President (the best US President since… ever ?) with lefties all over the place punching in the face everyone who doesn’t agree with them (you want to punch someone in the face in the US and get away with it ? It’s easy: call the guy you target a “nazi” - no proof needed - and go for it !).

I’ve only seen one guy who’s being punched, and his status in the Adolf fan club is pretty obvious.

The concept must at least exist, as Luke mentions it.

                              *THREEPIO
Is there anything I might do to help?

Luke glances at the battered robot. A bit of his anger drains
and a tiny smile creeps across his face.

                                 LUKE
Well, not unless you can alter time,
speed up the harvest, or teleport me
                     off this rock!*

I’ve always taken that as proof that those things don’t exist in the SW galaxy. Luke said it jokingly, knowing it was impossible. The concept of those things exists, but in a sci-fi/fantasy way. That’s my reading/canon anyway.

Yes, but IIRC, Threepio’s answer in the novel implies the technology does exist, or at least the study of it…

President Trump on Sunday defended his executive order banning refugees, migrants and foreign nationals from seven mostly Muslim countries from entering the United States but offered little clarity amid the chaos of legal challenges and national protests.

In a statement issued by the White House late Sunday, the president compared his order to action taken by then-President Obama in 2011 to give new scrutiny to visas for Iraqi refugees, though by almost any measure Trump’s order was far more sweeping.

“To be clear, this is not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting,” Trump said in the statement.

https://qz.com/897616/rudy-giuliani-says-donald-trump-asked-how-to-make-a-muslim-ban-legal/

But comments yesterday by former New York City mayor and Trump advisor Rudy Giuliani during an interview on Fox News suggest that the ban, at its origin, was indeed aimed squarely at Muslims as a whole.

“Does the ban have anything to do with religion?,” Giuliani’s interviewer, Fox’s Jeanine Pirro, asks. “How did the president decide the seven countries?”

Giuliani appears to relish the opportunity to recount his role in helping Trump create the ban. “OK, I’ll tell you the whole history of it,” he tells Pirro. He goes on:

“So when he first announced it he said ‘Muslim ban.’”

Unbelievable.

So, how long before Donald throws Rudy under the bus?

I tend to consider myself a pacifist, and I’m not advocating any laws or anything that’s makes this explicitly okay, but sorry if I can’t help myself if I smile when a Nazi gets socked. Sue me.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I admit I do too. But still, we cannot, from a legal perspective, give a pass to the assaulter, even if here on the Internet we can all get a good chuckle at the expense of that shmuck.

If they happen to be a WWII vet, or a holocaust survivor, they get a free pass in my book.

Luke arguably grew up in the boondocks.

So did I. Tiny place close to nothing. I still knew world history and the goings on of the current world and so would Luke. He knew about the control of the Empire, sympathized with the plight of the rebellion, ect. He wasn’t cut off from information.
The prequels suck!

Yes, but Star Wars is often like a space “Western”. Luke is the wide eyed kid who’s grown up on the farm and seldom been past the nearest small town. He’s heard stories about the Empire and Rebellion from people in Anchorhead. (The town, not my fellow mod.)
And Owen could have cut certain pages out of the Galactic Encyclopedia. 😉
