I was listening to the Jedi soundtrack the other day, and I thought, “wouldn’t it be kind of quirky if we heard the soundtrack version of Lapti Nek playing in a bar or on the radio in a future Star Wars movie?” Like a polished, studio cover of the cult Max Rebo Band hit.
Not a movie, but they did that in Battlefront II way back whenever that was. It played somewhere in Mos Eisley. There’s nothing as great in that game as slaughtering your enemies left and right to the sound of Lapti Nek.
That’s definitely on my list of easter eggs and things to include if I’m ever in charge of a Star Wars movie.

The Laserdisc of Starchaser is probably the worst pan and scan job in home video history. (With the possible exception of the early 80’s video transfer of THX 1138.) It’s actually zoomed in as well as cropped.
I’ve noticed whenever I wear red/cyan anaglyph 3D glasses for more than a few seconds, it causes me to temporarily see everything in a red tint from one eye and everything in a cyan tint from the other after I take them off. Is this normal?

There are several clips from The Shining in the 1983 horror doc Terror In The Aisles, which is an extra on the Universal Blu Ray release of Halloween II. Would be interesting to compare those.
I recently saw the documentary, Room 237, (about people with their, shall we say, creative theories about Kubrick’s hidden messages in the film) and the tennis ball shot is a proper yellow! Wonder what the actual source was they used for this?

I remember streaming the teaser trailer on my parent’s computer, taping one of the trailer premieres off of some entertainment news show and rewatching it over and over again, reading a primitive trailer breakdown that figured that Qui-Gon was going to die which I should not have highlighted to read, standing in line in the mall parking garage to end up getting tickets to a showing the day after, my stepdad and I listening to a review on the radio that started with Anakin saying “everything’s overheated”, easily collecting the fast food toys because my dad worked at Pizza Hut and my stepmom at Taco Bell, and having the timecodes memorized on my dad’s training VHS that explained what the hype was about by showing both trailers (which I still have and would be fun to have digitized).
I don’t remember actually seeing the movie, except for being excited to see a new Star Wars movie for the first time in my life and dreading the end knowing that Qui-Gon was going to die. I remember seeing it 4 more times (including once by myself when my grandparents wanted to go to the movies and NOT see that and winning a Jar Jar doll from a crane game) in some kind of misguided attempt to have a Star Wars movie at the top of the All Time Box Office list to beat Titanic.
Are any of the commercials on that tape? There do not seem to be any decent quality versions on youtube. Those ads with Col. Sanders, the Taco Bell dog, and a Pizza Hut delivery gal were a lot of fun.
Not so much cut, as there was no voiceover in this scene. It’s just a long silent pan around Yoda’a head, before Bail walks in.
As the scene is now, Yoda could be taking a nap for all we know. Without the Qui Gon voiceover, the reference to him at the end of the film is cryptic and out of left field at best.
This is going to end in Paul Hogan and Olivia Newton John being deported, and every copy of Kangaroo Jack being confiscated and burned, I just know it!
