There’s a pie fight in Dawn of the Dead. Totally derails the movie for about 2 minutes.

Pics or it didn’t happen ray😜
I was told about the pie fight scene in Dr. Strangelove. But there were no pics to support this, therefore didn’t happen. I’m not believing that about DOTD. God damn it, someone had to mention bout the doco of Full Metal Jacket. Now I’m going to spend the rest of my days hungry to track it down.

There were photos in the article I linked to, and you can easily find more by googling it. Vivian Kubrick’s FMJ doc was never finished. A few minutes have been used in other things about Stanley, but unless you plan on breaking into the SK archives, the rest of the footage is not yet available to view. Steal The Shining footage for me while you’re there, if you plan on doing so. 😉

Star Trek certainly had moments back in its day that’d be considered politically incorrect now. But I’m talking about at the time.

Political correctness is about being sensitives to the attitudes and cultures of underrepresented populations. People can put whatever bs interpretation of it if they want, but that’s what it is - treating people with respect. And that’s what Star Trek has always strived for, even if it didn’t always hit the mark.

Ex. They put a Russian on the Enterprise during the height of the Cold War. Now, the execution wasn’t perfect (pretty stereotypical portrayal, looking back), but the mere fact of the matter was a ballsy move to promote inclusion.

The other reason being the popularity of The Monkees, in adding a Davy Jones type to the Enterprise crew. Which is why Walter Koenig had to wear that wig for a while until his hair grew out. 😉

Been ages since I’ve seen the original Man From U.N.C.L.E. (Which began two years before TOS.) Was agent Illya Kuryakin being Russian a big deal at the time?

I find it amusing that Doctor Who almost did a story about a female dominated society during Patrick Troughton’s tenure in the late '60’s. Can’t recall why they never went into production with that script, but they probably dodged a bullet in any case.

Big Finish actually adapted that story into an audio adventure. It’s pretty hilarious. =P

Oh my! I might have to check that out. 😉

Angel One, yeah that’s another episode the cast would probably like to see lost in a vault fire.

All I meant to say about star trek discovery is that the combination of learning to get along with aliens and sounded to be an overdone theme with the same tired politcally correct tint that plagued the last few series. The last star trek prequel show was a flop, should we really try that again? I didn’t think it sounded like a good idea. Hopefully they wont make it too in you face, like how they did with farscape, which I liked, yeah people who hated eachother when they met ended up getting along in the end more or less. Race and gender has nothing to do with it.

Enterprise being a “flop” is somewhat complicated. UPN didn’t even have affiliates in some key U.S. markets. (The network went belly up a year after the series ended.) Many people I knew were downloading satellite rips of the show just to be able to see it, and such online viewing habits were not factored into viewer figures in the early 2000’s.
Arguably, more people have seen the show when it was in reruns on the Sci Fi channel than during it’s original run.

What was George Lucas's worst decision with the Star Wars franchise?
Time

I liked Droids, but the degree of Lucas’ hands on involvement in the overall production I’m unsure of. (Droids only ran one season, and Ewoks two.) In any case, he did work on two more Indiana Jones movies that same decade, (plus Willow) and co produced Labyrinth and the animated film Twice Upon A Time. Not to mention Captain Eo and Star Tours for Disney.
In before Alderaan invokes Howard The Duck. 😉

The way I see it, Disney should at least give a clear statement whether they plan to release OOT or not. At least Lucas was clear on this matter.

Except he wasn’t. He released it two years later, albeit in shitty quality.

Yes but he changed his mind again by the time the BDs were being done. There was an article that was published after the BDs came out about a fan at I believe a Q&A thing who politely asked Lucas why the original cuts hadn’t been included in the BD set. Keep in mind they had preceded the question by complimenting Mr. Lucas’ work and saying they were fans. According to the article Lucas rudely responded with ‘Grow up. They’re my movies’.

That quote’s validity was questionable IIRC. George did also say right around the same time “the original versions are too expensive to restore right now,” whatever the hell that was supposed to mean.

Lucas speak for “I don’t want to spend any money on it.” 😉
