Not sure Disney is going to care about 4K until people can buy a $99 4K player at WalMart.

Yeah, but they ought to know by now we want to see that stuff. Enough jerking around!
Somebody needs to capture this, and sync it up with the original mono off the Laserdisc. đ
Yeah. Red Zone Cuba left me suffering Bay of Pigs flashbacks, which should be impossible considering my age.
I once tried watching Beast Of Yucca Flats uncut. Big mistake. Never has there been a director with such a soul sucking bleak cinematic vision like Coleman Francis. đ
The crashed X Wing looks a tad out of scale. đ
And damn, someone at Celebration better be telling us weâre getting all that alternate footage down the road.
Wonder where has this other OHMSS HD master has been hiding all this time? Or could they be slowly remastering in anticipation of a 4K release? That TSWLM had a non Lowry HD remaster when the others didnât is also a mystery.
Watch some of the worst movies MST3K ever did, uncut, and then we can talk about trauma. đ
Thereâs a pie fight in Dawn of the Dead. Totally derails the movie for about 2 minutes.
Pics or it didnât happen rayđ
I was told about the pie fight scene in Dr. Strangelove. But there were no pics to support this, therefore didnât happen. Iâm not believing that about DOTD. God damn it, someone had to mention bout the doco of Full Metal Jacket. Now Iâm going to spend the rest of my days hungry to track it down.
There were photos in the article I linked to, and you can easily find more by googling it. Vivian Kubrickâs FMJ doc was never finished. A few minutes have been used in other things about Stanley, but unless you plan on breaking into the SK archives, the rest of the footage is not yet available to view. Steal The Shining footage for me while youâre there, if you plan on doing so. đ
Easy to forget now, (or if youâre a bit younger) but the sight of a Klingon in a Starfleet uniform, and a bridge officer, was a bit of a shock back in 1987. The Cold War was still on, and the Klingons as symbolizing the Russians was long noted even outside the fandom.
The telesnap recon suffers from a shockingly low bitrate. (Probably the only way to cram it in on the same disc.) Nearly every fade out/fade in, or dissolve pixilates very badly.
Star Trek certainly had moments back in its day thatâd be considered politically incorrect now. But Iâm talking about at the time.
Political correctness is about being sensitives to the attitudes and cultures of underrepresented populations. People can put whatever bs interpretation of it if they want, but thatâs what it is - treating people with respect. And thatâs what Star Trek has always strived for, even if it didnât always hit the mark.
Ex. They put a Russian on the Enterprise during the height of the Cold War. Now, the execution wasnât perfect (pretty stereotypical portrayal, looking back), but the mere fact of the matter was a ballsy move to promote inclusion.
The other reason being the popularity of The Monkees, in adding a Davy Jones type to the Enterprise crew. Which is why Walter Koenig had to wear that wig for a while until his hair grew out. đ
Been ages since Iâve seen the original Man From U.N.C.L.E. (Which began two years before TOS.) Was agent Illya Kuryakin being Russian a big deal at the time?
I find it amusing that Doctor Who almost did a story about a female dominated society during Patrick Troughtonâs tenure in the late '60âs. Canât recall why they never went into production with that script, but they probably dodged a bullet in any case.
Big Finish actually adapted that story into an audio adventure. Itâs pretty hilarious. =P
Oh my! I might have to check that out. đ
Angel One, yeah thatâs another episode the cast would probably like to see lost in a vault fire.

All I meant to say about star trek discovery is that the combination of learning to get along with aliens and sounded to be an overdone theme with the same tired politcally correct tint that plagued the last few series. The last star trek prequel show was a flop, should we really try that again? I didnât think it sounded like a good idea. Hopefully they wont make it too in you face, like how they did with farscape, which I liked, yeah people who hated eachother when they met ended up getting along in the end more or less. Race and gender has nothing to do with it.
Enterprise being a âflopâ is somewhat complicated. UPN didnât even have affiliates in some key U.S. markets. (The network went belly up a year after the series ended.) Many people I knew were downloading satellite rips of the show just to be able to see it, and such online viewing habits were not factored into viewer figures in the early 2000âs.
Arguably, more people have seen the show when it was in reruns on the Sci Fi channel than during itâs original run.
Star Trek has always been âpolitically correct.â
Even the TNG cast have disowned that stinker. I think Wil Wheaton mocks it in his con appearancesshow as an example of a Trek episode going horribly wrong.
Until recently, I had no idea who this Milo character was. When I finally saw a photo, I thought he was a bad Justin Bieber impersonator or something. Sad that the bar for âUh oh! We better ditch this guy to save our own asses!â has sunk so low.
I liked Droids, but the degree of Lucasâ hands on involvement in the overall production Iâm unsure of. (Droids only ran one season, and Ewoks two.) In any case, he did work on two more Indiana Jones movies that same decade, (plus Willow) and co produced Labyrinth and the animated film Twice Upon A Time. Not to mention Captain Eo and Star Tours for Disney.
In before Alderaan invokes Howard The Duck. đ
This might cause some nightmares. (And start a war.) Watch with caution! đ

Iâve seen a few, and portions of many others. Enough to know I donât care for them.
The Austin Powers movies kind of ruined it for you? đ
Thatâs a slight improvement over when Lucas would only answer pre-screened softball questions.
Same old Stinky. Thanks for that mental image.
There was supposed to be a pie fight scene in Dr. Strangelove?
Yep!

The way I see it, Disney should at least give a clear statement whether they plan to release OOT or not. At least Lucas was clear on this matter.
Except he wasnât. He released it two years later, albeit in shitty quality.
Yes but he changed his mind again by the time the BDs were being done. There was an article that was published after the BDs came out about a fan at I believe a Q&A thing who politely asked Lucas why the original cuts hadnât been included in the BD set. Keep in mind they had preceded the question by complimenting Mr. Lucasâ work and saying they were fans. According to the article Lucas rudely responded with âGrow up. Theyâre my moviesâ.
That quoteâs validity was questionable IIRC. George did also say right around the same time âthe original versions are too expensive to restore right now,â whatever the hell that was supposed to mean.
Lucas speak for âI donât want to spend any money on it.â đ
Too bad there isnât any big convention coming up where the OT question could be asked. đ
Oh and if anyone is going to Celebration this year, I would love it if they could buy me one of these:
I will reimburse with interest đ
I know Chris Solo is definitely going.
