For some reason, I never saw Blake’s 7 on tv here. I know some PBS stations ran it alongside Doctor Who, but never where I was living at the time.

Secret strike? You realize the U.S. military has been training, funding, and arming Syrians to kill other Syrians for many years now. Unless that’s the secret you were referring to.

I was thinking something involving cruise missiles or stealth bombers.

From what I’ve seen of BlueMilkSpecial, the artist draws Threepio that way all the time. And Threepio’s animated design actually goes back to the Boba Fett cartoon in the Holiday Special. 😉
I admit I’m having trouble identifying some of the other characters. No idea who the three next to Kirk and Spock are, nor the trio next to Apollo and Starbuck. And no clue about the two next to Sheridan. Took me a minute to realize that was the Sarge from Aliens in the lower right corner.

Amazing there was never any controversy about the Kenner version having the hookah. We couldn’t get a metal bikini Leia, but drug smoking slugs, that’s okay!

I haven’t seen video screen posters yet. Do they animate at all, or are they just static?

Maybe the effect simply didn’t work? Or they didn’t use any takes where you could see the smoke in the final cut.

There are still some independent video stores around. Two in my neck of the woods alone. I think I’ve seen video posters inside the entrance at the local Wal Mart as well.

Video rental stores back in the 80’s were often hip deep in them. And the turnover was so high, they would toss a bunch out every few weeks. As they usually were very similar to theatrical posters, it was a way to get a poster from your favorite movie. (If you were a regular customer, and asked nicely.) Some theaters were kind of stingy about giving away posters, claiming they were “studio property” and had to be sent back with the film. (The ones that were real dicks threw them out anyway.) I can’t imagine buying a real movie poster was that easy before Ebay, unless you lived near Hollywood, where memorabilia shops selling such items are common, or went to a convention.

I got a bunch of video posters to cover an ugly blank wall in the editing bay back in college. The room had all the charm of a cell block, and a video poster for the horror flick Prison was my idea of a joke. Was really pissed when someone decided to yank them down, and toss them without even asking me if I wanted them back.

Would be nice to hear her talk about the challenges of editing the original film.

Only Fox’s lawyers know for sure. 😉
