Not everybody needs to know the same things.

It’s not essential information, but a basic awareness of popular culture never hurt. I’m not even a Sinatra guy, but I know who he is and what his signature tune was.
The old joke about people who think Paul McCartney’s first band was Wings is being replaced by “Paul who?”

Yeah but I’m sure you don’t know stuff that people thirty years older than you might.

Maybe? Depends on the subject. But that’s what old movies, documentaries, and history books are for. Not to mention that internet thing the kids seem to like.
I don’t need to know about Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers to enjoy Star Wars, but it deepens my enjoyment of it.
For some people these days anything prior to 2000 might as well be a hundred years ago.

Standing by your man is one thing, refusing to even read the email where your man’s son blatantly admits what you don’t want to believe is something entirely different.

At least I think it is. I don’t remember much of Nixon. :p

Denial plain and simple. I suspect a whole lot of people are going to need therapy when the dominoes start falling and reality won’t go away. Or they’ll just repeat “Trump was framed!” like a mantra.

I don’t really care much about remakes, though, the originals are still around so just watch those instead. Regardless of what they do to the main characters I tend to just ignore Hollywood’s remakes these days.

A lot of people agree with you but for me it completely depends on the execution. The new Ghostbusters had different characters and jokes and it made me laugh. The Judge Dredd remake was an actual movie instead of a silly Stallone vehicle. I haven’t seen True Grit yet but it is supposedly really good.

I don’t avoid things just because they carry the same name as other things.

You’re going to need that Stallone version in about ten years when you finally get to ROTR. 😉

I think there was a movie where Sherlock Holmes was a woman. Can’t recall if it was period set or modern times. Might have been a tv movie or a pilot though.

Well, the show Elementary did this with DR Watson, I presume this is what you are remembering?

When I first saw this show I thought it was being done for the same reasons that warbler seems to think the DR who thing is. But since then I picked this show up again and really enjoy it.

Never actually seen that. What I’m thinking of is much older. There have been so many takes on Holmes, it’s hard to keep track. I forgot Tom Baker played him not long after hanging up the scarf.
