Unkar Plutt.

Although I have nothing against Simon Pegg, this uninspired ass-ugly alien blob makes Dexter Jettster look good in comparison.
Not As Gross

Hey, you said he was a Watto rehash this morning, make up your mind.

Dexter is meant to be a sympathetic character. Plutt is there to be ugly, unpleasant and a factor in Rey’s miserable day to day existence. What her parents were thinking leaving her with him I have no idea.

Plutt is also not very smart. You steal the most famous hunk of junk ship in the galaxy and then discover you can’t take it anywhere because it’s too “hot”.

I didn’t know Conjuring was so well thought of. I liked it though.

Pretty much this. I thought it was fine, not great, but certainly better than shitty trash horror movies like NOES, Friday the 13th, and the like. It was an actual movie with actors, story, and so on.

I know they ran it into the ground with the sequels, but the original NOES is pretty damn terrifying. Whatever happened to that Johnny Depp kid anyway? 😉

I am not understanding why this series seems to be so controversial and the Nazi show is not.

There are a LOT of people who, rightly or wrongly, consider the south/confederates to have been the good guys, and are no doubt worried that that they will be portrayed negatively. Virtually nobody thinks the Nazis were good, so there’s nobody around to worry about them being portrayed in a negative light.

I did read a few years ago about a documentary on Civil War reenactors, who get in uniform and recreate battles. Some of those interviewed felt they were wrongly portrayed as pro Confederacy.

It is kind of hilarious they cast a beefy guy that looked nothing like Wil Wheaton. Wonder if he’s done any cons?

They should have digitally inserted an older Wil into that scene while they were remastering the episode. 😉

Does being Q zapped into an adult mean you can skip Starfleet Academy? I bet if Wesley had checked certain parts of his anatomy, he wouldn’t want to have been changed back. 😉

Personally I think the outrage is pretty premature. But the best I can tell there is at least one legitimate criticism of the concept (rather than the nonexistent execution). Essentially, the idea being that showing an alternate history where things are worse to some extent absolves the problems of the present (as opposed to a future story where things are worse, which would be a cautionary tale). Basically it’s a thing where you can point to it and say “look how much worse race relations could be, so don’t complain!”

The same criticism applies to the Man in High Castle though not sure why the outrage wasn’t there (probably a combination of a lot of different reasons).

Nobody wants to wait to for a show to actually be made to get outraged anymore. If Married With Children was made today, it would be ripped on twitter based on a synopsis.

It seems that there are alot of complaints about HBO’s planned new tv show about what things would be like if the Confederacy had won. Could someone tell me why this is not acceptable but a show about what things would be like if the Nazi’s had won, was acceptable? Is there a difference that I am not seeing?

The Civil War remains controversial in the U.S. while Nazis do not. Everybody hates Nazis. The Civil War is more complicated. That’s my best guess.

Alternative history, (not to be confused with alternative facts) has been a genre for decades. And I pretty sure there have been novels about where the Confederacy didn’t fall. I remember this comic book at least, although I’ve never read it.

I saw at least one person on twitter who said they’ve never watched this HBO series, which would be amazing if they did as it’s not even in production yet.
