The vintage (and not so vintage) OOT T-shirt thread

Brillo pad that part off then? Who looks at the back of the shirt anyway? 😉

My local Target is sold out of that design too.

Saw someone in the supermarket the other day wearing a shirt with art of Artoo surrounded by Star Wars 1977. I couldn’t make out the rest with my glasses fogging up from my mask, (not to mention my current eyesight issues) and I’m hesitant to strike up Star Wars convos in public these days. Would be funny if they were a member here though.

This is an interesting photo. I can see Lucas and Kurtz center-right, and someone’s fiddling with a projector in the back, so maybe they’re showing some dailies or a version of the cut or something like that?

I think this is the screening room at the proto ILM warehouse in Van Nuys.

Do you have any plans to include a 16mm version of Vivian Kubrick’s Making the Shining?

If a 16mm print was actually out there to be had, that would be great. The famous blood elevator trailer was attached to the print and will be included. It’s slightly different, as it ends with a coming this summer tag as opposed to a still promoting the King novel.

I missed out on an ebay auction of a vintage U-matic tape of Vivian’s doc a couple years back, but I had doubts about the tape’s condition, or whether it was NTSC as the seller was in South America.

Keep in mind this is the result of a lot of work on a very red faded print. The first and last reels (not shown here) need more done to them.

Ah, gotcha gotcha. Do you think if it wasn’t faded, it would look similar to the 4k bluray or would be more of a cooler temp? I’m curious if that restoration is more white balanced corrected or not.

IIRC, frames from various non faded prints (posted on instagram) on modern film stock have been used as a guide.

Maybe it’s an edit for photos used for signatures at cons? And this crewmember wants money for photos sold with him in it. Still some bad Soviet Union era airbrushing out of his head though.

And that photo of George with the Yoda cap is priceless! I remember ads for that hat in Starlog magazine. 😃

For the ‘76 Cast & Crew’ t-shirt…

(I’ve bought from them before (all the way from the US to the UK - good quality t-shirts, large range of colours and sizes, and styles - v-neck, tri-blend, ringer, heavyweight etc, decent prices and occasional sales / offers. Also offer mugs, stickers, hoodies etc too 😃)

This one of the old early-mid 70’s alt logo is pretty decent too…

Thanks, Jason!

I sometimes forget how physically and mentally grueling ESB must have been for Mark. Buried in snow, repeatedly slapped by a Wampa hand on a pole, dunked in a giant aquarium, weeks if not months on a mudhole of a set with only Artoo, a rubber Muppet and various live reptiles to act opposite of. Not to mention the Vader duel!

On top of all that, he and his wife were expecting their first child during production. That’s stressful enough without being the lead in a Star Wars film to worry about.

Plus the weight training which apparently he hated! Mark was in killer shape on Empire. I saw an interview somewhere where he said he’d assumed he’d have to up the ante for Jedi - get even bigger and wear an eyepatch! I’d have been all for it (it’s a Conan thing)…

Call me Luke…

I haven’t bought an SW shirt in a long, long time, but this one caught my eye as I’ve been slowly rebuilding my wardrobe.

It’s retro and low key. Even has the crawl on the back. Yes, it has A New Hope.

I’d love to find a modern replica of the 1976 cast and crew t-shirt.

Might want to get a Blue Harvest shirt as well. It’s a deep cut that will go over the heads of most people. But I’m all about the deep cuts these days.

Easy enough to find on Ebay, although I doubt they’re licensed.
I think the original fan club may have sold some back in the early '80’s though.

Did Lucasfilm ever copyright the title?

Whilst googling, I found an article that jogged my memory about the other custom shirts worn by the film crews and ILM crew over the years. There were more than I knew about.

This has to be my favorite one, for obvious reasons. 😉

What are your favorite vintage OOT T-shirts, or not so vintage?

Maybe an unused take of the race to the Falcon or the pad where Boba was taking off from? Meant to be a plate for a matte shot. Somewhere I’ve seen a still of a blue screen shot of Lando leading Han and the gang that was supposed to composited with a Cloud City exterior that never made it into the film.
