Maybe it’s just poor casting and some sloppy writing in an otherwise well made film? You can have a great actor that’s totally wrong for a certain role and have a movie fall apart because of one scene.

One thing no filmmaker has any control over is whether certain people flock to a film because they see something in it that wasn’t intentional.

All I know is that Shape of Water looks weird as fuck just based on the clip or two I saw in the brief moments I looked up during the Oscars. The fish man looked ridiculous, not something that should inhabit a serious film.

Doesn’t it resemble Abe Sapien from the Hellboy movies, also played by the same actor?

I decided against seeing it when I heard a gastronomic spoiler.

In any case, want to bet Universal gets that perpetually delayed Creature From The Black Lagoon remake into first gear now?

I once bought a bottle of rubbing alcohol that said “ingesting will cause serious gastronomical disturbances”. Was it related to that? Asking because these are the only two times I’ve ever heard that word.

More like a small furry animal gets eaten.

oh thats fine.

if you had said small feathery animal gets eaten then i would have been upset :-p

The controversial Norwegian Blue scene will be on the Blu-Ray extras. 😛

Yikes. Is Uncle Roy the common term for a creepy friend/relative? I’ve been watching season four of Saturday Night Live and got to the infamous Uncle Roy sketch, where Buck Henry’s character is the middle aged babysitter playing increasingly creepy games with his young charges while the parents are out for the evening. (And taking lots of Polaroids.) Not sure SNL could get away with that today.

Note to self. Must buy a I survived a Mok Concert t shirt.

Rock & Rule! I loved that movie. 😃

And I did buy that shirt! : )

Cool shirt–I bet most people won’t get the reference.

Did you see the Oscars? More Mark than I expected there to be. A highlight in an otherwise boring show.

Two people at the con I was at in January did get it. : )

I’ve been ill and in a zombie like state of existence all weekend and didn’t see the show. I missed the sweet commercial for the Overlook Hotel. I’m sure there will be youtube clips.

Leia: *uses the Force in space, where there would be no strong gravity or resistance, to pull slightly so she could float back on board*

people: omg Leia can FLY now the Force can’t make people FLY what is this RUINED FOREVER.

To be fair what makes me go “eh?” is that I’m 100% sure she died and came back to life, therefore BS.

One does not die instantly in space. NASA had done a of research on this, (don’t ask how) and Stanley Kubrick used that data for the airlock scene in 2001. Even Guardians Of The Galaxy is fairly on the money in depicting exposure to a vacuum, and those characters were outside a lot longer than Leia.

I suspect they had no production photos of Dr. Ball when the comic was being drawn and just winged it. Much like they used one of the background aliens for Jabba.
Most of the initial offerings were repaints of existing figures except for Han and Luke in trooper disguise. They got into new sculpts for characters from the Dark Horse books though. Really dug the Infinities Vader design.
