I chuckled.

Me too, although Screen Junkies didn’t seem to know how to tackle TLJ. The fact that everyone is excited about Mr. Copy-paste returning for episode IX baffles me. Seriously why is Abrams held in such high regard? I would really appreciate it if someone took the time to explain, because all he ever does recreate the pop culture he enjoyed in his youth, and people who are always ranting online about the lack of originality in Hollywood praise him as some sort of visionary. Bullshit!

Isn’t that what Lucas essentially did with American Graffiti, Star Wars and Raiders?

OK guys, saw the movie a few more times. Still love it to bits but now I notice the movie does indeed have one flaw: when Luke becomes one with the Force his prosthetic hand vanishes along with him. I think it should have remained in the physical realm and dropped.

Maybe he found a way to take it with him? He can drive Kylo slowly insane having a disembodied robot hand following him around. 😛

That unfortunately increases the window for idiots posting random spoilers where they shouldn’t before any of us in the states can see it. 😕

Great, great movie. Wonderful building tension. Well written character arcs. Chilling atmosphere. Overall, I really loved it. Can’t decide if I like this or Fight Club more. This maybe felt more well crafted but the uniqueness of Fight Club maybe takes the cake for me.

EDIT: I also must add that these are some of the most disturbing murders I have ever seen on film and I am not quite sure how I will fall asleep tonight.

Maybe this will help? Or not…

star wars has always sounded good. the quality of the recording for the film’s sound track has been better preserved across a few home formats, compared to the visual content, which has rarely been treated with patience, care or respect.

Not really. The original film sounds like garbage on all home media until 1997, and then you have to deal with stupid content changes. Then 2004 onward it sounds even worse than before. Basically the 1997 mix is the only decent sounding mix on home media. (I’m sure the original Tracks sounded better when they were on fresh prints) thankfully it’s been edited by some to conform to the oot.

Really? I don’t think you’ve met my friend Laserdisc. The 1993 THX LD mix can even give a modern home theater system a workout.

I’m glad Lord and Miller seem to be civil about this and accepted the exec producer credit without a fuss. It sounds like Ron Howard was the right man to take the project in hand.

I’m sure they got well paid for their work, and possibly a bit extra to make sure they never talk about what really happened on the set. 😛

This is pretty interesting. I was aware of the fact that Luke was Starkiller in the shooting script, but I had no idea they actually shot scenes with it.

I know Battlestar Galactica had a last minute name change for Richard Hatch’s character as well. From Skyler to Apollo. Maybe Fox’s legal minions made rude noises over Skyler appearing to be too simlar to Skywalker?

I only just got a smartphone less than two months ago, but I’m not doing much more than browsing here and on Ebay with it when not at home. No way in hell am I going to access my email or anything else unless it’s an emergency.
I’ve never used my real name on facebook. I just mostly lurk in a couple movie related groups. Somehow I’ve stayed below their radar as other people I know have been pressured to cough up their real name in the past.
Google was pestering me for years to link up my gmail and youtube accounts. I was really paranoid about that. I hardly ever sign into youtube these days though.

Yeah, impeding things that will turn our country’s environment into a shithole (hey, I thought Trump was against shithole countries!) is a really horrible thing to do.

CatBus said that Obama aided various pipeline initiatives (in part at least) to combat Russia. I don’t know how true that is but it’s arguably a worthwhile trade. But in any event, we have pipelines crisscrossing this country. It’s crazy to say one particular one is one too many or that stopping it will change our consumption. Fracking is vilified too and yet we all enjoy the benefits of it. I know very few people who restrict themselves and avoid conveniences in order to help the environment. For all the complaining about fossil fuels I don’t see many people doing anything about it in their own lives.

What would you call the benefits of earthquakes in places that normally didn’t have any before fracking began?

I can’t think of any way to continue our society with economic growth and comfort without using fossil fuels for the foreseeable future. Whatever we try, there are tradeoffs. We started using more ethanol but that actually takes a tremendous amount of energy to produce, hurts engines/fuel efficiency, and increases food costs. We buy fossil fuels from the Middle East and we prop up horrible governments. It seems to me that fracking yields great benefits with relatively minor costs compared to the alternatives.

Guess you’ve never been in an earthquake. I should be so lucky.
There are a lot of oil wells in my area. Several less than a mile away. Every time they drill one deeper you can often feel the vibrations and that’s not even fracking.

Electric cars are a good place to start.

Maybe they shot him with a high speed camera to make the tongue effect work better? That may be why the movement seems different.

I think we’ve all gotten a little paranoid about SE changes. I even thought this pig guard was an SE addition when I hadn’t watched ROTJ in a while. 😉

I’ll go with when they acquired Marvel. That’s when they got incredibly obnoxious to me, but I suppose they’ve been evil for longer than that.

I place the birth of modern Disney after the end of the Disney Renaissance, when they stopped making traditionally animated films and started producing pop tarts like Miley Cyrus.

That’s at about the same time, isn’t it? She was in the late 2000s, wasn’t she?

I think the Marvel acquisition happened a couple years after her big debut, but yeah, essentially around the same time.

Weird, almost like the same time you guys became adults. But there definitely isn’t a connection there.

Disney shoving revolting products into my face every which way I turn isn’t connected with me becoming an adult.

I don’t see how what they’re doing now is much different than what they’ve always done.

EDIT: I also hate how they’ve handled Star Wars and I hate how they handle their classic movies and I hate how they’re remaking all of their animated features into boring CGI and live-action films.

The handling of Star Wars lies in LFL, not Disney. I’m not sure what they’ve done to their classic movies? Remaking their animated features isn’t entirely new (101 Dalmatians, Jungle Book), and CGI is pretty much the only way to tackle some of those stories.

Basically, who gives a fuck.

Slathering their animated classics with DNR and questionable color correction to the point they don’t look like vintage animation anymore? And don’t get me started on Fantasia’s last so called restoration.
I can ignore the pointless remakes, but treat the the originals like the crown jewels they are.
If they did a live action The Black Cauldron I might be slightly interested in that though.

I don’t own any of their animated classics on BD so that was a legitimate question.

I was actually thinking recently that I’d like to get Fantasia, is there any good release of that?

Only on Laserdisc. 😉

It’s hilarious whomever named fracking was totally unaware it was a swear word equivalent of saying fuck on Battlestar Galactica. Seriously, they couldn’t do a five minute search on the web before going with that? 😛
