I don’t know, but with the advent of home video, it’s certainly possible now. I remain amazed at how many movies do sync up with DSOTM and other albums. Actually came across someone selling legally dubious DVD’s of such syncs today. I didn’t even know there was one for The Shining.

Taking a cue from MST3K, See you on the Dark Side of Raul! I synched DSOTM to Overdrawn At The Memory Bank (uncut) and was almost freaked at how well it worked.

There was an amazing sync I once stumbled upon on youtube. Dark Side of The Cat, which synced DSOTM to the 1980’s Felix The Cat movie. That was amazing. Pity it got taken down.

I recall a shot of the set without any opticals or foreground matte paintings got published somewhere back in the day. You could easily see the Y-Wing in the foreground was three pieces not really attached and a smooth dome where an R2 unit should be!

I’m kind of surprised Lucas didn’t have them SE this shot.

He was busy putting CG rocks in front of R2. Priorities.

Almost ten years later, sure!

I’ve never noticed this before. How the hanger shot is duplicated in the distance.

Yeah, originally they wanted to use an actual hangar for the shot, but they ended up using the sound stage at Shepperton Studios in England. It wasn’t anywhere near as big as what they wanted, it was only 250ft deep, so John Barry and the crew faked the back half of it by building a forced perspective set, and they used large cardboard cutouts of the fighters at various scales in the background, and then left a space for the shots of the two actual fighters in the foregorund to be repeated via an optical comp after the scene was shot.
I think there is only one full size X-Wing and one Full size Y-Wing in the shot. I have a photo somewhere of them being dropped into position on the sound stage.

Originally the fighters were meant to be lined up outside of the rebel hanger, but they ran out of money, so the shots were re-written to take place inside the ‘hangar bay’.

I have to admit this scene is nightmare fuel. 😉

But you still have to suffer really dumb scenes like this.

I saw Superman III on a double feature with Wargames back in '83. Which is interesting as both movies revolve around computer hacking.

Still trying to fathom how Superman has to lose his powers before he can sleep with Lois, but evil Supes can fool around. 😛

I mean, I haven’t seen the movie, but both gifs just look like some fun goofy humour. I doubt it’s the kind of movie to take seriously (if judging by the first two and four, which I have seen).

Unlike the original film, the humor is all over the map. The film doesn’t know whether to be light hearted or self parody. And Clark Kent’s former high school rival being a mean drunk one can imagine slapping old flame Lana Lang around is really out of place. It’s a wonder evil Superman didn’t sneak off to Smallville, kill him, and make it look like an accident. 😉

Well, this is going to based on Doctor Sleep which is King’s sequel to his own novel, but Kubrick’s version casts a long shadow. (And they sure aren’t going to tie it to the 1997 miniseries King did.) People are going to wonder why Shelley Duvall and Danny Lloyd aren’t in this either way.

Star Wars and The Shining have crossed paths before. They couldn’t start building sets for ESB at Elstree until Kubrick finished shooting his film. (And the fire that destroyed one of the soundstages was another delay.) Fake snow from The Shining was allegedly recycled for Hoth.
