Adywan is as close as you can get to a professional while still being a faneditor. I like to think he betters George Lucas in being open to criticism and not just blind praise. Surrounding himself with "yes men" is exactly what made Georgie's prequels so awful (imo).

Exactly my thoughts. I would rather have us nitpick it to pieces and Ady decide he likes it as is than have everyone universally praise everything he does. That way he at least is aware of any perceived issues. I think it should be assumed that we find anything he puts out there to be spectacular and far superior to the Special Editions.

Yeah I love the control room graphics, I feel like the spinning circle in the background might be going a little fast but that might be because it's new.

That was my only other gripe- for some reason the spinning circle immediately pulls my attention to it in those shots. Even slowing down the spin a bit would help it blend in more with the background, and (assuming it's a spinning overlay in AE) slowing it down wouldn't be too difficult. I love the look, it's just too distracting at the moment.

Good catch. The shadow glitches on the SD conning tower are there on the Blu-Ray too. Just check out the comparison clip posted earlier. Maybe adywan can fix that.

Oh jeez, I only watched the full quality .mkv. Should have occurred to me to look at the comparison first >_< Thanks for pointing out my mistake!

The clip is incredible. I did notice some strange stuff on the star destroyer in the upper right-hand corner at 0:23ish. The lighting on it seems to be flickering or something, and the motion of the ship itself is a tad wavery. I can overlook the motion, but the shadows are what really threw me off. I hate to nitpick, but that's what we're here for, I suppose :)

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest this is just an extension of the gag...

My god I hope so, but if it's not, then we'll just have to wait the extra year. It'll be worth it. Hopefully some of the hard drive recovery tips will help. In addition, there are places you can send it to try to get it recovered.

Let the retail Disc rip over night? it surely does not take that long to rip a BD LOL, 30-40 minutes tops.

It takes longer than that.

AH, sorry but you are mistaken, I have ripped plenty of BD50's to my hard drive and it takes about 30-40 minutes, if it takes longer than that, then you have a shitty PC and an even worse Blu-ray drive\Burner, or you have no idea what you are doing.

Part of this may be the distinction between ripping the direct files and converting the video stream into another format. AE can generally read raw blu ray .m2ts files, so theoretically that would just be a direct file copy, so I agree with dark-jedi, not all that long.

It is suspicious, but at the same time it's totally possible somebody at Lucasfilm saw your videos and said, wow, we're retarded for not thinking of that before. If nothing else, official Star Wars materials are looking more like Revisited, which is far from a bad thing. At the least you're having a positive impact on the franchise.

Retiming dvd structure
Time

I demuxed the video to an ac3 audio file and a .m2v file, which I'm editing in Premiere. It's my understanding that it's possible to then remux that video file back into the dvd structure while keeping the menus. However, if the video file is a different length, I can see that causing issues, hence the initial question.

My guess is that if there is some way to modify the cell structure, it would have to be in a separate step either before or after the replacement of the new video file.

Retiming dvd structure

I've a rather odd predicament. I'm attempting to edit a scene, the result of which is approximately 4 seconds shorter than the original scene. The issue is that up until now I've been able to perfectly retain the existing dvd structure by demuxing the dvd and editing the video file. Unfortunately, it would seem to me that shortening the entire film by 4 seconds would throw off the menu chapters and the subtitles. Is there a way to shorten merely a single cell of the dvd so that the following cells all correspond to the original chapter locations? I'm not exactly sure how to phrase that, so I hope it makes sense. If that isn't possible, I suppose I'll just have to rig the scene somehow to add 4 seconds back onto it. Thanks!

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Hey, this is mostly on topic- does anyone know what state the Obi-Wan/Vader duel is on the purist edition? Is it the same as the SE, or is it Adywan's edit minus the Battle of the Heroes music? I'm looking into that for my own purposes, and the download is taking a while- thought I'd check in here to see if what I'm looking for is in there, and therefore worth the download.
