I’ve sent you a link via private message!
I have made the fixes. All three versions have been updated and reuploaded.
PSA: I’ve been informed that there is a brief video cut out from 20:55-21:00. I am re-exporting but may not get new versions up for a few days. I’ll post again when the fixes are live.
I honestly don’t remember if I chose to replace those scenes or if the version of Hal’s edit I started from happened to include them already. Either way your points are perfectly valid but I won’t be removing them. At this point I’d have to retime too many pieces haha.
I’ve uploaded a 3GB H.264 MKV alongside the 32GB MKV and the 34GB Blu-Ray ISO. The quality seems pretty decent for the size, and I’ve added in the chapter names and subtitles labels just like the full-size file.
Revenge of the Sith: Rebalanced v1.5 is out!
Happy holidays everyone!
The biggest change with this release is the addition of subtitles. I have transcribed a set of dialogue-only subtitles as well as full closed captions for the hard-of-hearing.
There is also a brand new subtitle menu for the Blu-ray:
Here is the updated menu reel:

The MKV now has full chapters (including chapter names) and labeled subtitle tracks. I still need to compress a new 3GB H265 MKV though, so I am still hosting the old v1.4 3GB file in the meantime.
In addition, I have made a series of changes and fixes based on things I found while transcribing the subtitles:
Fixed audio pop at the cut between the two Blu Ray titles (split on the original source Blu Ray but merged here) at 2:19.
Removed S sound during missile cut in opening battle at 4:38. Thanks to SidShady12 for noticing this back in 2020.
Removed audible end of “buzz droids” at 4:54.
Adjusted center channel cut at 5:46 - “Hold on Anakin.”
Adjusted audio cut at 6:13 - “Yeah, you got him.”
Improved center channel dropout at 6:37.
Fixed center channel dropout at 14:16.
Adjusted center channel cut at 20:19.
Added missing music to center channel at 20:47
Adjusted black levels on a few closeups of Obi-Wan as he talks to Anakin at 26:35.
Adjusted audio cut at 26:44 to better blend “against the Republic.”
Reversed rear channel SFX at 37:34 so the blaster bolt that lands near Yoda is on the correct side.
Fixed mismatching color cast on establishing shot of Padme’s apartment at 39:31. The original AotC coloring was too orange and did not match the interior shots.
Added music to fix center channel dropout AND audible end of “Kenobi” at 44:27.
Added music to fix center channel dropout at 46:13 as Obi-Wan’s lizard jumps down.
Adjusted black levels on close up of Obi-Wan when he smiles, just after Grievous ignites his lightsabers.
Reverted softening of fanfare at 55:10 as Anakin leaves the council chambers to assist Windu.
Adjusted cut at “Anakin help me!” to fix noticeable audio transition at 57:55.
Fixed sound dropout and audio pop in center channel at 58:12 (battle with Mace, Palpatine, and Anakin).
Fixed center channel dropout at 59:04.
Edited Palpatine’s mouth on-screen so it doesn’t start to say “to save your wife” after “strong enough with the dark side” at 1:01:21.
Slightly lowered lizard snorting SFX volume at 1:03:07 when Cody gives back Obi-Wan’s lightsaber.
Fixed odd music hiccup from original theatrical mix at 1:04:56 after Yoda drops his walking stick. Rebuilt using soundtrack.
Removed extra Wookiee growl at transition at 1:06:18. Also fixed audio pop.
Fixed audio pop at 1:11:11 - “I don’t know.”
Fixed audio blip at 1:33:14. Issue is in the original theatrical mix too.
Fixed total center channel dropout around 1:39:35.
Removed faint sound at 1:40:25. Probably a hint of a cut sneaking in.
Removed hint of an “s” from “she has lost the will to live” at 1:45:05.
Adjusted cut by one frame at 1:47:28 to slightly better match the audio crescendo. The original scene wipes on either side of the cut prevent any further adjustment.
Blu-ray - Changed the way the explosions on the main menu were tinted so that they look more realistic. Now it uses an HSV curve solution instead of a straight RGB tint.
Blu-ray - Fixed some misaligned button highlights on the chapter submenus.
Blu-ray - Added new subtitle menu.
Blu-ray - Adjusted remote button functionality on the various menus for logical usage.
The new files are hosted in the same folder on Drive. PM me for links!
I’ve finally ironed out the workflow for the Blu Ray subtitles and completed all parts of the 1.5 update. I ran a few more passes on the subtitles to catch any errors. Unless someone finds a typo somewhere, I think they’re good to go. And, if someone does find an issue please let me know. With 1,260 subtitles there’s a lot of opportunity for something to go unnoticed.
Here’s the workflow I finally ended up with:
Created the subtitles initially using Subtitle Workshop in .srt form. First the main subtitles, then closed captions in a second pass. Even though Subtitle Workshop does not support the ♪ symbol, I was able to paste it manually into the .srt file via Notepad for the closed captions.
I time-offset a copy of each for the Blu Ray, since the fan edit legal warning is before the main menu, rather than part of the movie itself like on the MKV.
Using Subtitle Edit, I exported Blu Ray .SUP files with the following settings to mimic the default VLC subtitles (for consistency with the MKV):
I built the disk in DVD Architect with two dummy subtitle tracks so that the menus had correct links. These were both timed incorrectly and jagged looking due to DVD Architect’s lack of subtitle anti-aliasing.
The tricky step was remuxing the audio and video files from the .M2TS file containing the main movie (in my case 00001.M2TS) with the correct .SUP files I’d made separately. At first I tried a full demux and remux using TSmuxer, but when swapped with the original M2TS file PowerDVD couldn’t read the movie and would only display black with no audio or video at all. My breakthrough in the end was to use the playlist file (000001.mpls) and not demux at all. I could remove the subtitle files and add my own and remux directly:
The result: It works!
I hope to have files uploaded as soon as I have time to deal with all the logistics! I’ll post more information about the actual changes when the time comes.

why the hell do the blu-rays look so bad? If they looked that good then it would have saved me years of work regrading them.Yeah, same experience here man. They looked better on screen for some reason. Perhaps the version shipped out to cinemas is graded differently? the shot entering mos eisley is by far the worst one. the foreground characters look nice and sharp and so do the mice, but the background is like 360p.
My wife and I saw Empire in theaters over the summer and I had the exact same reaction. Beautiful color grade, removal of the '97 Luke yell as he falls, and overall way way better than anything I expected out of an “official” showing. I immediately thought of this crew haha. I agree that it would be fascinating if there were an additional version of the OT floating around meant only for theaters.
Sure! I’ve sent you a private message with the link.
I left out the chosen one lines because that always felt like a bit much as a whole, same as Hal. I agree Ewan McGregor’s delivery of those final lines is incredible, but I had to cut them to match the rest.
As for the high ground line, it works well as a final demonstration of Obi-Wan trying to mentor Anakin. But in the moment he shouldn’t need to spell out why it’s over. Anakin should have learned by now. I like having the reasoning implied and him instead just turn around and basically be like “well, here we are.”
Hi all,
I’m happy to report that I have finished the initial subtitle pass for RotS: Rebalanced. I have completed the following:
The fan edit legal disclaimer is at the start of the MKV, but it shows up before the menu on the Blu Ray. So, I needed two sets with different timings.
Next steps are to figure out how to convert .ass to an image based .sup/.pgs format. I tried giving this a shot: https://github.com/subelf/Spp2Pgs but it gleefully gave me an error with the following:
PgsWriter Created.
Unknown exception.
Converting failed.
I’m about to leave on a trip but I can try to figure this part out when I get back.
If I can manage the conversion, then the last steps are to make a new subtitle menu for the Blu Ray. That’s going to be a bit of a pain because I did all the original menus in Cinema 4D with fully custom elements. I’ll need to figure out what I want to use for the menu and then see how to build/compile/mesh it together.
I’ve also made a few minor audio and visual edits that I spotted during the subtitling process. Those will be detailed when I finish.
Feels good to finally be giving this edit the subtitles it deserves.
Haha all good, sent you one!

Does anyone have links to Star Wars - Episode II: Attack of the Cuts and Star Wars - Revenge of the Sith: Rebalanced?
Belated private message sent!
Sure, I’ve sent you a link!
Hi everyone! My deepest apologies for not realizing people were posting link requests. April 2022 was right when I got hit by COVID, and then because I didn’t check the thread it stopped sending me notifications. I’m just embarrassed I somehow never checked it manually since then.
I’ve sent links to Leovfz, henryt11, hankellard, WinSky, Embers, Toby_Kenobi, and lookitsevan!
Awesome work! All sounds fantastic. I was having a rough day and this was a nice surprise.
Hey friend. I have recently watched Hal9000’s edit of episode 3 and I love it, but I just really don’t think the Palpatine and Yoda fight should have been removed, but rather toned down. From what I read, it seems you share my opinion and was hoping to get a copy of your edit. Could you please share?
Hi Siliconmaster, really keen to check out your edit, any chance of a link?
I’ve sent links to both! (Tadpole39, I sent yours a while ago but forgot to respond here as well!)
Absolutely, sent one your way!
