I mentioned before that I have a copy that I transfered from a VHS recording. Quality isn't perfect: it's slightly jittery at a few moments and missing the first few seconds, but it's pretty decent. Total runtime is 43 minutes and 21 seconds. PM if your interested.

FAN EDIT REQUEST THREAD - Post your dream Fan Edits Here!
Time
Casino Royale ('67) has been bugging me. I actually tried toying around with an edit, but I quit. The movie's a mess, but it's an interesting mess. Just different segments cobbled together. But I've been thinking I should get back on it. Nothing radical. Just make it more straightforward and coherent. Though this has proven a difficult task. Especially with the last act. Once Peter Sellers disappears completely from the film, it's a doozy of nonsense.

King Kong: The Spence Edit 2.0 (Released)
Time
An edit approximating the structure of the original might be interesting. Personally though, if I want to see a cut that mirrors the original, I'll just watch the original. The films are two different beasts and I don't really see the purpose of cutting out story and good scenes to recreate the original. That's not really the point of a remake, is it? But as an experiment, it might prove to be fun. I'd like to see if it could be done.

BANNED BOND: The Criterion Collection on DVD (Released)
Time
These are available via torrents at myspleen.

I recently purchased all four of the James Bond Ultimate Collection DVD sets and am currently trying to download these three discs for the Criterion commentaries. I held out from downloading the torrents in the event that someone may either upload the commentaries separately or upload these to usenet, but unfortunately, this has not happened. While I'm trying to download them at the moment, I haven't made much progress. Downloading 12 GBs is certainly a daunting task.

So can anyone please help me out and maybe rip the commentaries and upload them separately? It'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks anyway.

The Amazing Spider-Man: A Spence Edit (Released)
Time
This could make for an interesting edit. It's always been a film that I felt could benefit from one. It's funny. I usually do little edits for myself and I love Spider-Man and was pretty disappointed by the film, so one would think I'd tinker with it. But it's never been a priority for some reason. Since the second film came out, I haven't even watched the first one all the way through. I love Spider-Man 2, so I can't really think of a thing I'd change with it.

Well, the most obvious place to look would be the American Grafitti and Indiana Jones DVDs for video interviews. Apparently, Willard Huyck was also interviewed for the THX 1138 documentaries as well. Not sure about print interviews though.

Idea: Superman Returns - Spoilers... for a fan edit
Time
Some more thoughts on editing the film.

- Delete the opening scene of Lex swindling the old lady. It's probably only in the film to give the actress who used to play Lois on the tv series a cameo. It's unnecessary and as Lois deduces, he probably tricked an old lady out of her money.
- Try to get to Superman's first appearance as quickly as possible. While overall I really liked the film, I sat in the theater LOATHING the film for the first half hour. Just nothing to care about.
- This may be contradictory, but adding some of the deleted Kent farm scenes may help us care a little more about Clark.
- Cut some the of "humor" between Lex and Kitty.
- Superman stalking made quite a few people uncomfortable, though personally, I didn't mind it.
- Cut the scene after Superman falls back to Earth where he's rushed to the hospital. It ruins a bit of the magic behind Superman. It's aso a bit more dramatic to cut directly to the shot of the newspaper title reading "Superman Dead".

Overall, lighten the film up a bit. It's a terribly somber and depressing film, not at all like the Reeve films. Maybe someone can even go and regrade the colors to make them pop a little more.

Info: Superman II Donner, and III & IV extended edits

Why is it an issue?

Just cut the turning-back-time altogether. The Arctic Police take Lex and the Kryptonians away, he destroys the Fortress, he drops Lois off at her house, he goes and gets revenge on the bully, movie over. Why does Lois need to forget, especially if we're now treating these as a simple two-part epic rather than a series with further sequels?
I haven't seen the Donner Cut, but from the problems of the ending I've heard, letting her remember seemed like an ideal solution to me so I agree.

Info & Idea: Superman Original 1978 Soundtrack Preservation?
Time
From the Digital Bits:

Here's the deal - we've just spoken with Warner Home Video. They ARE going to be issuing corrected discs for both Disc One of the Superman: The Movie - Four-Disc Special Edition (also Disc One of the Superman: Ultimate Collector's Edition 14-disc set) AND Disc Eight of the Superman: Ultimate Collector's Edition. Disc One will feature the CORRECT original 2.0 audio track for Superman: The Movie and Disc Eight will feature the new Superman III: Deluxe Edition. ALL of the other discs streeting tomorrow are correct. The mistakes in the Superman: The Movie - Four-Disc Special Edition and the Superman: Ultimate Collector's Edition were apparently just honest authoring/replication errors - not deliberate decisions - and Warner is already in the process of correcting them. NO recall of existing sets is planned at the moment, but we'll have an 800 number shortly that you can call and arrange to have the corrected discs sent to you via mail. The official statement from Warner will follow shortly, so be sure to check back in a little while.

Good to hear.

Request - Cover for Hamlet
Time
Sorry, I've got no cover for this. I love the film as well and have been clinging on to my crappy pan and scan VHS copy!

This should* be released officially on DVD next year, so hopefully we don't need to wait too long for a great widescreen transfer.

* = Warner has been working on the transfer and restoration for God knows how long, but I'm thinking it'll be worth it.
