Yes i am going to attempt to fix that. I also hate the way that ILM lied about fixing those shots for the SE in the Making of docs. I don't know how the hell i'm going to do some because the actors are also transparent in the speeders in some shots too. But that problem isn't just isolated to the Hoth battle. I've spotted some ships being transparent in space, also some of the Falcon cockpit shots amongst others. I have fixed one already (well 90% fixed so far) and that it the shot of the Falcons cockpit as they leave the Hoth Hangar (the side view shot). You can see the hangar walls through the cockpit walls & the actors. I think ILM went a bit mad on the idea of transparency to hide matte lines. But why did they lie and say they fixed it when they clearly didn't? who knows. Even the interior speeder cockpit shot they show in the making of as the speeder swoops down between the AT-AT's legs that they said they had fixed is clearly still transparent.

I wouldn't say they lied, they did make it less apparent in some shots, although it's still there.

Just something for us to think about, why must every well known character, always HAVE to go out with a blaze of glory? It doesn't always work out like that in real life, so why should Fett be any different? Hey, even Elvis the icon he is, died when he was sitting on a toilet. Why delete a major death/plot point simply because we don't agree with how it was done? Do we have to agree or like every single plot point to be able to leave it in the movie? Just sort of playing devil's advocate, and giving something to think about. Not getting all upset or anything, and do NOT wanna turn this into an uncivil or angry fight/argument in here. As always you can & will do as you wish. Maybe Fett can die from a lightsaber slash to the chest/gut from Luke on the skiff about the same time he falls face down on the skiff? (After Luke cuts the ropes that Fett wrapped him with?) If that is somehow possible to do?

Plus look at it this way, sideburns were popular in the late 60s and the 70s, go back 20-30 or more years before the 70s in the 1940s and 50s they were not a trend, just like in the prequels.

You say the prequels will never have the lasting appeal that the OT but, I think that would be true no matter who wrote or directed the prequels, they came out in a different era than the originals, the originals were the first of their kind, and they had little competition when they first came out. Of course the prequels would not have the sense of "awe" the originals had. Partly because people never saw anything like that at the time of the OT, nowadays in this era they see stuff like it all the time. Honestly, if the OT were to come out for the first time evere in today's era would it have ever become the phenom it did?

George Lucas: The point is, like if you paint your house white and somebody comes over, 'Well that should be a green house.' Well, fine, but I wanted to paint it white. I don’t think there was anything wrong with painting it white. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with me for painting it white. Maybe it should be a green house, but I didn’t want it to be a green house. I wanted it to be a white house.
Lucas: "The challenge was that I wanted to tell the love story in a style that was extremely old-fashioned, and, frankly, I didn't know if I was going to be able to pull it off. In many ways, this was much more like a movie from the 1930s than any of the others had been, with a slightly over-the-top, poetic style - and they just don't do that in movies anymore. I was very happy with the way it turned out i the script and in the performances, but I knew people might not buy it. A lot of guys were going to see this movie, and most guys think that kind of flowery, poetic talk is stupid - 'Come on guys, give me a break.' More sophisticated, cynical types also don't buy that stuff."
"I know the critics are going to hate it. They already hate it. So there’s nothing we can do about that. They hate the idea that we’re making another one. They’ve already made up their minds. And all they’re going to do is go to the movie to say they saw it, but they could already write their review today. The fans are all upset. They’re always going to be upset. “Why did he do it like this? And why didn’t he do it like this?” They write their own movie, and then, if you don’t do their movie, they get upset about it. So you just have to stand by for the bricks and the custard pies, because they’re going to come flying your way. You know it’s gonna come. Will this be Titanic? Probably not. Will this do O.K.? I think, yes, it will. So there’s not much to worry about."
I didn't wanna help turn this more into a bash or defend Lucas thread. but I feel I must add some quotes of his to help balance it out, because some you hate him because he didn't do it "your way" which you consider the "right" or "good" way. And I always feel put down/insulted/slapped in the face when people tell me the movies I love are no good (Which is just their opinions). None of us would be here discussing Star Wars if it wasn't for him. I just feel we need balance between the defenders and the detractors.
One thing Palpatine had right (When referring to any art medium which he wasn't referring too) "Good is a point of view."

I think that was inevitable for some people, too many years and a nearly a generation passed, any movie with that kind of gap, with all the stuff we've seen in the past 20 years, was going to disappoint a percentage of people. But about 3 out of 4 of the newest Indy movie reviews are good.

I have been thinking about adding a very subtle snippet of the Emperors theme to the hologram scene but the music is so great for that scene as it is it would only be a very short sample.
The FX are going to have a clean-up. I'm hoping to do something with the Matte paintings. the main ones would be the cloud city ones. Some you can really tell that they are paintings. Not sure how to pull it off yet (well i have a few ideas but i'm not going to do any tests just yet) .

Couple thing I wanna say about those paintings, the cloud patterns are the exactly same in some different mid day (non sunset or non sunrise) shots of Cloud City, which of course would be impossible, one is a reverse negative of another shot (The one with the Tibbana Gas refinery added in the SE.
And in a couple of falcon and Slave I platform shots the background buildings/painting clouds are the same.

Maybe Vader really didn't get that many grafts over the years, remember, EP5 is 22 years after EP3, a lot of healing time. I think that back of the head scar still looks nasty enough in ESB.
I must apologize for my persistance on keeping almost all SE editions, I just want to be able to watch all 6 films in order, without losing the newness of the SE editions which I believe for a large part help them gel more with the prequels. Sure, one can say I can just watch the 2004 DVDs, but I want the benefit of Ady's cleaned up version along with keeping SE additions. But I guess I cannot have it both ways. I just hope a lot of them (SE changes) stay, especially a lot of the windows and scenery added to Cloud City, and overall effects smoothed up and gaffes/goofs cleaned up (boom mike reflection in Luke's goggles on Hoth, Wampa arm performer exposed, Anthony Daniels chin showing thru the gap in the 3PO suit when Han yells "Deck officer!" on Hoth, etc, etc. To tell the truth, I don't mind going back to the old Wampa scene, that one never really mattered to me either way. I trust Ady to do a great job, I don't see how anyone could not trust in him after seeing ANH revisited. If in time he needs more donations for drive space and/or whatnot, I will be there with another donation as I am sure others will as well.
I am still very supportive of this project, and I sometimes throw things out there because I feel so strongly about them, and I even hope people with throw points out there that will convince me to change my mind.

How is the Wampa some unknown terror when there was a 1980 toy of him and now that we've seen it, how can we be automatically scared again? Maybe true for a new watcher, but no one else.
Are you going to cut out all the newer windows in cloud city? Cut the crowd scenes during Lando's evacuation announcements? Add more sky traffic of people evacuting the city as the falcon escapes?
How about ALL the Vader shuttle shots strung together in an extras section? Like you did the ANH Jabba scene. How does that sound? Is it a fair compromise?
When you say something "does not work" you say it as if it's absolute fact and not just an opinion. Unless you mean that it's a fact that it is your opinion.

This is no different than watching a movie or TV show where two shots of the same character are separated with a brief establishing shot of a new environment, thus implying that time has passed and the character has now travelled to a new location.
Check out the following clip from Seinfeld on YouTube here -- at the 3:30 mark, Jerry's in the coffee shop, then we get an establishing shot of his apartment building, followed by Jerry in the building talking to Newman. The passage of time is implied here by the establishing shot, just as the shuttle shot in ESB implies Needa leaving one Star Destroyer and boarding the other.

I don't get it, I never thought of that box like thing as Needa's shuttle because immediately shows him being choked to death after it leaves that Star Destroyer underbelly, nothing to indicate any passage of time between shots. Please explain to me how that's supposed to be his shuttle when it immediately shows him aboard and choking?

I never saw the escape as all that exciting anyway, nor did it need to be, they had already escaped Bespin with TIE's on their tail. I like the following of Vader, especially being he's a main character. If you wanna chop off scenes because of their slowness, there are other scenes I could see hacked, but they seem to have a built in immunity to criticism because they were there from the beginning, and these Vader's shuttle scenes would have had a built in immunity from being cut if they were there since 1980. I assure you, most fans would complain if they were cut (if that were the case), pacing or not, you could make that argument about other scenes too. Besides, the shuttle scenes only lasted few seconds.

Sure Needa says get a shuttle ready, but instead of showing the shuttle leaving, wouldn't they show it going up into the underbelly of the Executer. Not just first leaving? And even if this is the case, why do you feel the need to change it? Simply because you don't like the design of the shuttle? You assume all imperials use the the same type shuttle? Change it because you can?
The fact that the new Vader shuttle sequences all combined last less than 20 seconds. Oh the tedious slowness! Some here carry on like they last 5 or 10 minutes.
Were only in a debate if I say something, if anyone else says anything, it's for some reason OK.
Obviously Ady, can do whatever the hell he wants, but all I am suggesting is that he leaves these in, I am not arguing about the "Bring My Shuttle" line, I want it back, but it would be nice to keep any shots of the cloud city environment if at all possible. Crop that shuttle on the landing platform just out of frame so the old line works.
