STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

The TPM Yoda puppet has been replaced by a CG one like in AOTC and ROTS, it just has not been released to the public on DVD yet, but there is a brief snippet of it on the ROTS DVD so that argument is a moot point now. But if you were stuck in a swamp for several years, some different you would look! Plus I don't think Palpatine looks so different in those two comparison pics you posted. You also have to remember Ian aged over 20 years since the make up was last applied by a different make up artist, and in ROTS he is seen unhooded and in many differing lighting enviroments as opposed to being stuck pretty much in the throne room in ROTJ. Whatever differences there were in the Emperor's face from ROTS to ESB/ROTJ could easily have come in the 20 some years between the movies.

That's what I'm saying! Obi-Wan is tiny! I've always found his close-ups funny in this scene because I'm imagining them zooming in on a tiny Alec Guiness!

After thinking about it, I'm guessing they had him tiny so that they could have this shot:

http://img391.imageshack.us/img391/461/pdvd001hb0.jpg

which is cool, but weird if Obi-Wan is standing 15 feet behind Yoda and impossible if Obi-Wan is just made larger.

Alright, back to mini-Obi-Wan for a second. I think this shot could work if we go for the "Obi-Wan is standing really far away from everyone". Yoda would have to be out of focus while Obi-Wan is talking, then as he is vanishing Yoda would come into focus, rack focus style. If focuspuller on the boards is really a focus puller, he could tell us more about it.

I can't think of any OT FX shots that used rack focus or DOF. I'm not sure they could have done it with the technology of the time.

I always thought Obi Wan was standing away from Yoda and this was a perspective thing. The branch is the one shot screws it up, but like the tiny TIE in Jedi it's a mistake in the layer order. I hope Adywan includes a fix.

What is wrong with this scene? Because one or both should be out of focus? Just because something is not technically correct, doesn't mean it isn't romantically correct.

GoodMusician, I don't see suggestion to remove the tape from the tubes Vader cuts in the Suggestion Terminal.

Here is a picture posted by Darth Stewie

To add to this, Ady could make the cut parts glow like some things do in the prequels when a lightsaber cuts thru them.

I think the cloud city vane shot is a matter of perspective (windows) of where u are viewing it, it looks fine on the DVD to me. On a side note, some people say this entire vane is too small to house the carbonite freezing chamber at the top but if you get the DK Star Wars COMPLETE LOCATIONS book, you will see it fits nicely. Now if someone could just post those stills of the gray tape that turns into black char marks in the next shot on the vane thing vader cuts in half before he cuts off Luke's hand.

Love the new gun on the MF. I did always think it never looked right.

Since screen shots are more fun, thought I would give a visual for some suggestions.

We see Boba Fett's Range Finder in the down position. At the bottom of the Range finder is a display lens that clearly has no display. Could we see something there that he may be looking at for the reason the range finder would be down?

Boba Fetts Range Finder

In this shot Fett's Chest lights are not really moving, which we see that they do move in the Carbon Chamber scene

Could use some prequel elements of the cockpit graphics, changing then enough to suit this scene. Looks like there is some "blue screen spill" that could be corrected too.

Here's the image I keep going on about. Forget the shadows. If I had to come up with just 2 words to describe what's wrong with screne, they'd be "bad photoshop".

Look at the size of the railing compared to the size of the people. The railing comes up to the middle of their thighs. They look about 10 feet tall! ( I guess that makes Chewie about 14')

The hallway is not wide enough for the railing to be normal size. Am I the only one who sees this?

I've been places where they have low railings (about like the one in that scene) for whatever reason, they are not always just to keep people from falling over them.

Awesome comparison, I was hoping you had blacked out where the skin of Anthony Daniels neck shows in a gap of the 3PO costume during the scene with he and Han by the falcon when Han asks if Skywalker had reported in. (Han yells for deck officer.) But I am sure you will get to it later. :) Or the rebel base doors closing too early.

Savage makes good points. I've gone back and forth enough, but I suppose my first screenshots stand with Savage's idea here.

Here are more background comparisons:

Slave 1 load:

Slave 1 leave:
http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/1817/esbslave1qe4.jpg

These backgrounds do not match at all, and the clouds behind the close up of Fett match the load screen and not the leave one.

I think it would be best to somehow use the Slave I load scene clouds and buildings for the Slave I leave scene. The leave scene is a wider shot, but I believe the background could be extended a bit with Ady's software
.

http://img517.imageshack.us/img517/5728/esbfalcon2qw4.jpg

Falcon leave:
http://img504.imageshack.us/img504/9699/esbcloudcity2ks9.jpg
http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/4201/esbcloudcity4dk7.jpg

The shot of Han walking towards Lando and the shot of Lando and Co running towards the Falcon match almost perfectly. Everyone walking straight towards camera is a really good match to the Falcon blasting off. It all looks good, except that none of the clouds matching the more CGI shots.

So my vote is to change Slave 1's background in all the shots, because the Falcon one's match fairly well.

That really tall building to the right of the platform and some of the buildings on the left look different.

Just for Sevb, here's some more screenshots of Things I Never Noticed and One Thing I Have:

http://img246.imageshack.us/img246/4201/esbcloudcity4dk7.jpg

Like I said, the buildings don't match the other shot of the Falcon anyway. Too bad they're the same as Slave 1's also. Oh, and Slave one's clear cockpit got bluescreened all the way out. Maybe we could do something about that too.

Yes the buildings and clouds should be changed in the one of those shots. (Falcon and Slave I) It seems there is yet another differing set of buildings behind Fett in the shot where frozen Han is being loaded up into Slave I, if you can post that one too, that would be great. Thanks for all the screencaps!

At least they recomposited Cloud City to make it different sizes.

Look at those clouds between the two shots, they are reversed negative, but yes the city is different sizes, in one of those shots the clouds should be completely changed, it doesn't matter which shot.

Hey that's cool that you posted those, could you post more? Please post all shots of Slave I on the platform, I wanted to point out how the background and clouds are the same betwen it and where the falcon takes off later. Also the couple shots of the city during broad daylight, the ones that the added SE "gas refinery" and another later when Luke aproaches, you'll notice the clouds are the same, they were just flipped negative between shots.

QUOTE IMO I don't agree with the extra cloud city scenes. As many fans have said the original ESB is perfect as it is albeit some minor changes. The new extra scenes are just a waste of time. The scene of the Falcon flying through it is just too computer-gamey effects. It spoils the pacing. Even i don't agree with the scene we see of the crowds listening to Lando's announcement that the empire is taking over (heh they're all suddenly looking up at the same time to the same spot in the sky like Lemmings!) What is the point of that scene?! Its again like ILM showing what we can do! Completely unecessary.

Wow, I don't agree with a word of that!

Looks like Ady covered up the arm of the Wampa arm puppeteer when it chokes the TaunTaun, as seen in the comparison clip, on the far left you could see part or the puppeteer's sleeve. Ady covered it up.

The only things that I would find better, is making the eyelids of the Tauntaun smoother and not so mechanically jerky, and maybe somehow getting the Wampa paw to come in better contact with Luke's face as it knocks him off the Tauntaun making his face scratched and bloody.

Otherwise, this is already shaping up well!

Did you remove the Wampa arm puppeteer to the extreme left that is shown for less than a second? I didn't see it. So I am assuming yes, unless I have my screen formatted wrong. Yes, the boom mike is seen off and on Luke's googles in the scene.

But it looks like things are coming along nicely!
