In case you missed it: Will you make Luke's sleeve a little burnt or have tiny flames fade away off of them like in ANH? It always bothered me how his hand was cut clean but his sleeve was left in tact!

Also, is there a way to make ESB's Yoda a mix between OT and PT Yoda? That way in his prime he's in CGI and then we transition to him in his old ages where he still has a lot of emotion in his face and can still move his ears but then you could leave him crippled in ROTJ. What I'm trying to say is that a lot of times when you use muppets some parts get wobbly if it's rubber. For example, yoda's whole body when he walks/Yoda's ears. I'm wondering if you could make his walking more smooth, and have his ears move a little like in PT to be more consistent.

Actually, they intentionally made the PT CG Yoda do that rubbery ear wiggle to look like the puppet.

Hi there folks!

Watched the Empire Strikes Back GOUT last week and came up with a few suggestions which may be of interest/use. Apologies if they've been mentioned before, though I have done my best to check.

1) I was always slightly disturbed that upon Luke's crash he doesn't seem concerned with Dack (OK fair enough it may be obvious he's dead but...) and appears to just grab the grappling hook just before the walker mash! It might help this scene a tad if one of the "Daaackk!?" lines from the scene where Dack is shot is taken out, and then inserted as Luke is rummaging in the downed snow speeder, prior to jumping out the way in the nick of time. It would show Luke is double-checking if Dack is really a corpse, and add a bit of... I dunno... loyalty to one's co-pilot in this scene, rather than Luke just searching for the hook and that's all.

2) After the generator on Hoth is blown up, is it possible to make the lights dim momentarily in the corridor that Han is rushing through, to show the instant before the emergency lights kick in? Or perhaps if possible add a reddish tint to the corridor scenes to indicate emergency power?

3) After the first walker is downed, notice the walker behind it - the head swings around in an EXTREMELY fake manner. Perhaps this could be slowed down or altered in some way? I think more laser fire from these walkers would also intensify the situation a little - like the near constant barrage of laser-fire in the Genosis fight in Episode II?

4) When Luke is trudging through the snow and then turns around to see the Falcon make her escape, the timing is slightly off as he follows her path. Is this fixable?

5) The Vader in the cave scene has always been pretty spooky, but I think it could be enhanced more. After the head has been severed and rolled to a stop, a nice scarey hissing sound of breath escaping the mouth would add to the atmosphere, as would some whisps of smoke from the neck stump, and curling out of the nostrals and mouth - reckon this would really ramp up the shocking nature of this scene, in the same way Adywan did to the severed arm in the Cantina scene in ANH-R. Maybe white out his eyeballs as well or have them sith-coloured?

6) When one of the holographic images of a star destroyer captain meets his demise due to an asteroid strike, perhaps add a Wilheim scream as his image flickers out?...

7) There should be some kind of alarm noise in the background of the star destroyer scenes to indicate the high-alert/danger status of something that big flying through an asteroid field!!!

8) Backing up a tad, in the "doors must be closed" scene, you can see the doors closing behind Chewie just before they are meant to close! They then start again in the close up!!! Can these be 'frozen' somehow in this scene to correct continuity?

Hope some of this helps Adywan - cannae wait to see this edit :)

Cheers,

- 7F

About the Dack part, I wonder if any of Hamill's dialogue from the ESB radio drama can be used? Like the ANH radio drama was used for ANH revisited?

2 - It doesn't matter if the prequels suck, the OriginalTrilogy is the future of the PrequelTrilogy. The interiors look prehistoric, not futuristic. That's why they could use a good makeover. They just don't fit anymore in the chronologic order.

Huh? Did you see the Star Destroyer bridge in ROTS? Display panels looked like ESB, and also the Tantive IV looked the same as ANH.

It's more about aesthetics than technology in my mind.

The argument about the ship panel displays I find strange, Adywan has said in the past that he wanted these (ALL SIX) films to all have good continuity with each other when he is done editing them all. Making statements that the prequels should have less sophisticated displays doesn't help anything. What is done is done, agree with it or not, unless he plans on blacking them out in the prequels. I don't think it would be awful to have some sort of display on the Snowspeeder interiors, tit doesn't need to be fancy, or stand out much, low key is great, but it would make sense to have SOMETHING there, but not shown in a close up.

It's looking like I will never get my C3PO "chin skin showing fixed" question answered until the edit is out!;)!!

The thing people don't seem to realize is that clouds in real life are not always moving fast enough to be detected by the human eye. Sometime they move sooooo slowly that in a 5 or 10 second period u can't detect any movement at all, try it everytine you can think of it, line up the a cloud edge with electric or telephone pole and you may not see any perceptible movement in that 5 seconds, other times with have a lot of movement. It just depends on the weather.

But clouds sometime have almost no perceptible movement in a very short time in real life, other times they move pretty fast. So how much movement do you expect in like a three second shot? I have often looked up to the sky and lined up the edge of a cloud with a lightpost or whatnot and get pretty much no perceptible movement in 3 seconds, other times I get a lot of movement, depends on the weather.

Adywan, at the transition 'wipe' (1:22:08 PAL 'timing') which changes from Luke's X-wing flying away from 'Dagobah' to a reveal of Bespin 'floating city' in white clouds, I miss the movement and roar of the orange twin-pod vehicle that came directly towards us in the original GOUT version. It was removed in the SE, and replaced with a 'floating gas refinery' instead. The 'floating gas refinery' is fair enough, but I'd sure like to see the movement of a twin-pod vehicle back here, which gave the original shot a bit more life. There are a few existing elements which could be used or 'flipped' for this (either coming at us or away from us), and it's just something else to consider come the time.

yeh, i miss the cloud car fly by too. The problem is that, now i am working in 1080p, using any footage from the GOUT is now out of the question. I was going to add the car back in but it will really stick out . But i never liked the addition of the gas mine as it stands now. it just looks so fake to me. I'm going to be doing new FX footage for that shot.

Sluggo, that AT-AT picture i've never seen before. It definitely looks like it was originally filmed for ESB. Those pics have actually given me a few ideas for the Hoth Battle now too.

Well the colour correction is taking a lot longer to do thanks to the 1080p res. So no updates for a while.

Remember to take note of the clouds in those two similar shots and  they are the same exact cloud patterns flipped. Would be great if you'd completely change the clouds in at least one of the shots, also in another scene when Leia is pacing in the window, I always thought it looked overly bright in there from the outside and should be darkened some. (Just the shot from the outside of her pacing).

Look at these two shots! I just noticed that the same plate shot was used with and without the generator in two different shots just a few seconds apart! Another thing that needs work!

The word "pilot", especially in the SW universe can mean more than just flying in space or hundreds of feet or more above ground. In our world the term is also used for ships at sea, and that was even it's original meaning before planes were around. Podracing was indeed referred in the context of the movie as piloting. Although not necessarily very high above ground, it was piloting. Regardless of how accidental Anakin destroying the droid control ship seemed, I believe the force was guiding him even unbeknownst to him, remember how Qui-Gon said "Nothing happens by accident." Regardless of how he did it, Obi-Wan knew both these facts, so why in the heck would he not have thought Anakin was already a great pilot, especially for his age? He wasn't even on autopilot for the the second part of the trip.

1 a: one employed to steer a ship : helmsman b: a person who is qualified and usually licensed to conduct a ship into and out of a port or in specified waters c: a person who flies or is qualified to fly an aircraft or spacecraft2: guide, leader3: cowcatcher4: a piece that guides a tool or machine part5: a television show produced and filmed or taped as a sample of a proposed series6: pilot light 2

A lot of Kenobi's OT statements were vague and gave no details, leaving it all open for some wiggle room. This comes from hearing these statements for years and assuming they mean Anakin as an adult, when they don't specify his age or circumstances. When they seemed to contradict what we had in our imaginations, some screamed contradiction. I doubt anyone new to SW would have this problem if they watch the films 1 thru 6 for the first time because they didn't have all that time to fill in the blanks based on the vague Kenobi OT statements.

But as said above, enough on the prequels.

I know you don't care Jor Tallen, but if you go to StarWars.com, there is all of this new information explaining what Dooku was doing and why, what the Clone Wars were all about, etc., etc. I generally felt a bit confused about all of the politics and reasons for stuff too, but with all of the new Clone Wars stuff at SW.com, they have added all kinds history and info that I never knew, clearing up a lot of the confusion, really cool, you should check it out. Ya....back to Empire.....peace....

you see that's one of the big problems with the PT. Most of it made no sense whatsoever. When you watch a movie you shouldn't have to wait until a website puts extra information to explain things, it should be all there in the movie. The casual viewer wouldn't be heading to a website so they can understand it. Did anyone have that problem with the OT? No. I haven't been able to watch TPM for years now. The last time was the day it came out on DVD. That was the only Star Wars movie ever that i almost fell asleep while watching it on its opening day. I left the cinema feeling numb and wondering what the hell it was all about. It was all just fancy backdrops and FX. The whole battle at the end was pathetic. "oh dear my ship has been hit and i'm not even supposed to be here. Damn autopilot. i like spinning. oh no, now i have been hit and my ship just happened to fly inside this control ship. Oh no, now i have pressed the wrong button and blew up the ship. I've saved the day. yipeee".... YUK. So much for being a great pilot when Obi-Wan met him

quad core should be here in a couple of hours :)

Anakin was a great pilot when Kenobi first knew him. If you were Kenobi and knew Anakin had won a podrace for their hyperdrive (by piloting a pod, something no human had been able to do successfully) and had destroyed the droid control ship, wouldn't you think he was already a great pilot?

Also to echo my suggestion again about the lack of green in the surface of Dagobah as viewed from Outer Space.

Lastly I really would have liked 1080p so that the project is essentially future-proof (for a while anyway) but beggers cant be choosers

That is Hoth, not Dagobah in this still.

Here's one (tiny) thing that's always bothered me... (Not sure if it's been mentioned, if so, sorry :) )

It looks like one of the claws of the Tauntaun model broke off... Makes it look a bit fake.

It's actually the webbed part between it's claws. So doesn't need fixing

Ady, I don't think he meant the claws themselves but the snow gap between the Tauntaun hand (paw) and it's body makes it look like it isn't attached.
