From what I've seen, the Vader dining room scene was set on about the same level as the roof lobby/apartment-whatever Han and Leia were staying in, notice those elevators in the still above on Leia's building on the left don't seem to even go to the top level. But yet we see one going up (SE) just before they enter the dining room.

Maybe the scale of the building can be changed to seem larger in comparison to the people? If that's the case I would not be having Cloud Cars fly close by because that messes up the scale and makes the building seem smaller, or I would either keep the cloud cars further away or make them smaller. And don't get me started on all those round windows in and just outside the dining room Where the heck are those from the outside of the building shown in the above still? I wouldn't want the new cloud city fly throughs cut out, because they add to the enviroment.

I realize it's going to be hard or impossible to get all the geography perfect, but just because we can't get perfect doesn't mean we can't make it better!

I think this could work out well; it would be one of the simplest changes and would help the window and building stand out better.

I think we are forgetting the room in which Leia is has a glass roof and hence such a spectacular lightning would be posible for a glass roof, it's not just sun-roof, it's huge, you can see it in the next scene from the inside, the whle roof has glass with sun pouring in....let's not forget that....

The fact there is glass in the ceilng is not lost on me. Yes bright lighting would be possible with the skylights, but the scene with her and Han inside really isn't that bright. And from the outside it definitely would not be as bright as shown in the window.

Looks good, not if we can only change that matte.

As for clouds moving, that's not always necessary in a 5 second or so shot. In real life sometimes the clouds move so slowly you can't hardly notice any movement at all in 5 seconds. Yes, at times clouds do move rather fast, but almost as often if you line up the edge a cloud with the edge of a telephone pole or building you get not discernable movement in a 5 sec period.

Monroville, I was also thinking of sliding the window a bit to the right, but I thought that might upset a few folks even more than the tinting.

The background when Luke enters the city need something done to it, that matte painting behind him seems like it's supposed to be the edge of the city or something. I dunno what needs done, but that painting needs to go.

As for the Cloud City buildings looking aged, I don't really think that is necessary, this place is kinda of a resort/Casino type place and it would make sense for things to look pretty good. A slight bit of atmospheric haze would work, but not much IMO.

No idea how it can work with underexpose a bit the windows. I mean it will cause continuity errors to the next bright scenes.

I don't believe so, compare how it looks in the room when Leia is talking to Han and how it looks from the outside. I don't think it's overly bright but from the outside you'd think it is. I am sure Ady can do it better than I did. Maybe it doesn have to be as dark as I did it, but I really thought is was overly bright from the view outside in broad daylight.

Here is a mock up of what IMO would look better. I think the window should be darker in Leia's building, as it's overly bright in there compared to the outside of the building.

This is a bit of a crude mock up below but you get the picture, darker is better. IMHO

By "real", I'm guessing you mean believably detailed. No, that they're not. What I mean is that the designs don't all need to be changed. They're "alien" buildings, for all practical purposes...they're allowed to not completely follow Earthbound design logic. In most cases, simply re-drawing the same content with more clarity and detail will be enough...it doesn't need to be a different design than what's there. No point in creating extra work where there doesn't need to be.

And, in a related vein, they don't all need to be redrawn to be crystal clear. Leaving some of them blurry also has a logic to it - atmospheric haze. The place is called CLOUD City, not SKY City.

We see the the scene that flys a bit a around Cloud City and ends up at the building where Leia is seen pacing in the window, and the they go to the dining room, which is where we all see all these supposed windows. I just hope there is some consistancy with the outside, that's all. Now I have even entertained the thought that those round ones aren't even windows., but in-wall pieces of art decor. But that's isn't consistant with the first round window we see when they first walk into the city with Lando.

These outside the windows below look like real buildings to you?

A general word to everyone concerned with Cloud City windows - don't get too hung up on what's outside what window. A lot of CC's geography is unknown as to where "this" area is relative to "that" one and how far it is from "here" to "there", so at least some of the window and exterior views can stay as is.

Unless someone has detailed maps of CC, they don't need to be changed because there isn't enough information to prove that the existing view conflicts with anything.

And no, set construction blueprints don't count. They're designed for efficiency within the limits of what's needed for filming. If you go by set blues, every ship on Star Trek has one straight and one C shaped hallway intersecting each other and every room ever shown is within 50 feet of every other room.

AND, Ady has already said that he's not referencing any EU materials, so nix the Cross Sections books, too.

But those windows have fake looking buildings in them compared with the great looking ones Ady has added, I am talking more about replacing them with appropriate scenery rather those static original ones. EU is not definitive by any means, but wouldn't one say it's a bit closer to canon that what our own imaginations are? Or are our imaginations more canon?

Yes that's perfect! Thanks! Is there a way you could get several hi res stills of the SE Cloud City fly thru until it lands, I don't need the close up where it lands, but at least 3 or 4 shots of it on it's way to landing. Especially when in just passes that largest/highest building.

Just noticed another window in the dining room scene to the right of Vader's head! Seen below

http://s5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/celluloid_jam/Screen_Captures/Star_Wars_ESB/ESB_500-999/?action=view&current=SW5ESB_960.jpg

Did Ady mention if he was going to give any eye, nose or mouth articulation to Bossk or the Ugnaughts as he did in the ANH Cantina? Especially Bossk since he gets a good close up.

Dude, have you screen capped every part of the film??

Those aren't my screencaps, I just found them with a search.

Also here is a pic of Vader helmetless in his chamber, note the tube in front of his face as described in the ESB novel, he breathes thru this when his helmet is off, and possibly even eats. This tube can be seen leaving his mouth fleetingly (it's pretty quick when you watch the scene) when Admiral Piett comes in on him, and the helmet is re-lowered on his head. Nothing needs done about this but since I just saw this pic, this goes with what we were talking about earlier in the thread.

EDIT

Sorry, here is the pic http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/6717/vaderhead.jpg
