(Jyn) She was Fighting the Empire with Saw until he dumped her… She then went off under a different identity and felt betrayed like what she was a part of had ousted her or made her feel unwanted or not good enough.

So she gave up caring as She felt she Lost not only her “Real” mum & dad but also her Surrogate dad dumped her. And she did not know how to find SAW either.

But it really was all done and explained a bit too quick. It was not given enough weight.

But I like shady Cassian too and Jyn.

I think in the first Assembly she was on Jedha presumeably looking for Saw Gerrera or always had been part of his group.

I watched the RLM review and the only thing I agree with them on is Having Galen and Very young Jyn having some time before Krennic Shows up.

And Vaders look and Voice although I am not being as cynical or critical.

I think they just try to get attention by being snarky on Star Wars bundle them in with the other social groups that try to get attention from riding on the back of other successful investments while they try to shoot it down.

they don’t really care and it shows.

Now that sounds Like Vader and it’s not Vader but it is James Earl Jones.

Kind of an odd excerpt you chose. He just growls.

However, earlier in the video, he really does sound like Vader.
https://youtu.be/h4OD2iDljrI?t=13

I think James Earl Jones just doesn’t have the same punch in his voice any more due to his age. That Stargate clip is after all 20 years old, so his voice sound much closer to Vader in the OT.

He forget how shakespere Vader was 😃

It may just be pronunciation more than anything else.

I personally am fine with the “don’t choke” comment that one is ok. It’s blunt and true to Vader.

But a lot of his other lines he just is not written Blunt enough I feel.

Even Later on when he say’s “prepare a boarding party” if you compare that to the empire strikes back “prepare a boarding party” then it’s like chalk and cheese.

Probably age as DC put’s it

It just does not have enough urgency or omph in it. I don’t think I am alone in this feeling but it does not break the film at all. It just sounds like another Vader.

Speed of Delivery is possibly another factor. I would not be surprised if his voice was sped up when they did it in the original.

It could be simply that Vader would not say what he actually says in Rogue One and he also would not say it in that particular manner even. Barring the actual voice (Equalization and modulation)

I think his Lines need to be completely re-written but there is a fat chance of that ever happening. It will fall to a fan edit job most likely to fix his dialogue.

Vader is written much more accurately in that Rebels Cartoon I feel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uc_G03kx0A4

If it sounded remotely like that I think it would be fine with it (even this is not quite written right but it obliterates Rogue One Vader)

Yeah I don’t see any changes to the very end of the story.

Just got back from the second viewing I once again thoroughly enjoyed it and I can’t remember the last time I went to cinema twice to see a film.

I think it’s still a great film, but that’s it for me now until the Blu-ray comes out. Noticed the flaws much more on second viewing.

Personally I think Vader is the worst handled character in the film. Tarkin and Leia are much better. He sounds and looks completely wrong more so than any other character in the film and the shocking part is it’s a man in a suit and James Earl Jones doing the voice so how they screwed that up I’ll never understand it.

But the voice and I imagine the red eyes that are like he’s been swimming in some kind of bong… It’s poor effort and it needs to be fixed. (It’s good at the end though!!!)

The other thing I noticed is the inter-cutting in act 3 is perhaps worse than act 1 as sequences are left dangling while we cut to somewhere else.

But I have to say I still really like it even though it is flawed. There is a better movie in there somewhere so although Gareth Edwards alluded to not going back to do anything with it i.e. no extended cut and so on.

I would really like him to sort something out. Give the man another Star Wars movie!!!

It’s another shot from the sizzle reel.

The cloaked figure briefly comes in to frame right at the end.

I like the Vanee character being like the janitor and the Emperors little spy too. Giving a disgruntled look at Vader in ROTJ at the soon to be outsider. You can tell he was speaking in the Emperors ear about Vader softening and the alarm bells were ringing about how he was changing.

Like a little tell tale or something who suspects something fishy about Vader. It’s such a brilliant connection.

No idea if it’s a door or what?

It might be Vader’s Garments that is probably his cape…think I can see his gloves too.

Vanee must have went to get Vaders Gear after he get’s him out the Liquid Chamber or Bacta Tank.

I wonder if the Death troopers are something weird like Dead Troops that are brought back to life that would be an interesting connection to what is going on in the scene here.

Star Wars saga - Extra Extended Edition (1080p) (* unfinished project / WIP *)

Urgh I don’t know I just did it by eye quickly in Gimp.

It was all done in color balance…at the top (Highlights) and a bit in the Mid tones too I think with more red and less magenta.

Basically that takes it closer though to how it’s meant to look the whole pink explosion is severly off than all the rest of those pics.

It is more extreme correction. Just the top image obviously. I just do by eye not really by the numbers.

It’s something like (in Gimp)

Highlights

Red +20
Green + 13
blue -8 (Yellow)

Mid tones

Red +4
Green +7
Blue +5

Why does everyone keep missing the extra shots of Jyn smacking the stormtrooper with the stick and then there is another of her taking his leg’s out too.

so there are another 2 for you. From Sizzle reel.

  • Chirrut (Donnie Yen) knocking another stormtrooper out back fist style

  • shot of death troopers shooting also from teaser I think was not in the film either.

  • Missing shot of U-wing descending on Eadu

  • Establishing shot of Eaudu Base

  • Alternate angles of Star Destoyer over Jedha city from wasteland guided by the locals.

  • Rebel Leaders before they go to War on Yavin 4 Speech by Dolodonna and Bail Organa in the Hangar

There are loads in the trailers more than on your list.

Did anyone think Bodhi Rook was great?

His Character changed the most by all accounts. Was he shipping the Kyber Crystals for Galen? Was there a scene where Galen gave him the hologram message and told him to find Saw?

He never really left too much of an impact for me on the film but he played it well. But I thought he was just kind of there and it’s right that they said “he’s there, but he’s not a soldier and he is out of place.”

Saw Gerrera’s role was chopped down in the re-writes along with Moroff and Pao and his partisans and the conflict on Jedha and also Scariff (Although Saw never made it that far I don’t think).

Bodhi Rooks role was developed further.

So there is your answer as the movie had already been shot before they changed it so that’s why you have only scattered appearances which Bodhi was a much smaller character and Saw was a much bigger Character.

They only had so much wiggle room to shape it differently.

Cassian Never met Jyn until Jedha either by the sounds of it and Mon Mothma recieved the imperial coded transmission sent by her father totally wiping out the plot with Bodhi Rook and the tentacle monster.

I felt the characters were sufficiently developed for their various purposes within the movie. We spend as much time with them as we do LUKE/LEIA/HAN in ANH.

What exactly do we learn about Chirrut Îmwe, Baze and Bodhi Rook other than the templates for their characters? Not much…Can’t say the same for Luke, Han, Leia, Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren.

Why do people insist on asking questions like this?

What do you learn about Luke Skywalker?

Not much but you go on a journey with him that is about it and he has 3 films as the main character. If you were expecting a historical epic about someone you will not find it in Star Wars films.

Go and watch Ben-Hur or something?

A shot from one of the trailers reveals the moment that Yavin 4 Base decide to go to war at scarif.

This would seem to be Bail Organa there making a speech as well as Doldonna and no doubt would feature R2-D2 C3-PO and Leia possibly abandoning or at least putting on the back burner their mission to tattooine.

Switch TFA and RO and that is literally my order.

I’m glad to see this movie isn’t as divisive as TFA was. I mean when was the last time Star Wars fans agreed on something that didn’t involve a film sucking?

Yeah, it’s been pretty refreshing how even the loudest anti-TFA voices have been supportive of RO…except for one ridiculous troll, of course.

Part of it is that some of the loud voices aren’t even out. By nature, the spin-off isn’t garnering as much analysis, critical or otherwise. And I think the stakes are lower too with a spin-off, and the expectations aren’t sky high coming off so long a wait with TFA.

The Film has already made back what it cost to make it in 3 days (approx 250 million to make)… TFA was only last year.

For a film that has nothing to do with any Skywalkers it’s doing amazingly well and It is very good to see.

The current Estimation that the film will pull in approx 290 million worldwide on opening weekend.

Actually they need 500 - 600 million to cover costs apparently but it’s still very good as they do not get all the revenue only about half of it.

You know everyone I’m already thinking about the Blu-ray to this movie. I sure do hope that it’s chock-full of deleted scenes and the alternate ending with a concept art gallery, featurettes on Vader and the special/creature effects. That would be awesome. There’s about 20 minutes worth of deleted scenes from The Force Awakens that we never really got to see which is a shame. I just hope that we get to see more on the Rogue One Blu-ray and we probably will being as that it’s the first standalone Star Wars film.

I doubt this will be the case given the poor offering on the Force Awakens Blu-Ray. I did not bother to buy it I contemplated getting the later repackaged version with the supposed Chewie ripping off the arms if Unkar Plutt or whatever his name is but it was cut short just like they did for escaping Maz Katana’s castle.

It’s the old here is part of a deleted scene but you will have to wait another ten years to see the rest of it.

Actually I decided I’m not bothered by that point and no sale. I don’t want to own it thanks… I will however pick up Rogue One on Blu-Ray… Or perhaps hold out for a deluxe version.

I think it would be beneficial to offer something over and above what was given for the force awakens as the advertising basically was marketing a completely different cut of the film still with only a few days prior to release.

If you are going to constantly advertise an alternative cut of a film you had bloody well put it on the Blu-ray 😃

Logging the Novel (Book) scene order.

In the novel the scenes at the beginning are in a different order being the Prologue (Flashback to Lah’mu) then not Back to Jyn but to Cassian then Bodhi Rook and then we get back to Jyn and stay with her until broken out of the Jail.

“It’s power to create problems has certainly been confirmed…A city destroyed, an imperial facility openly attacked!!?”

^ I never heard this in the version I saw I am going to watch it again tomorrow I think so I’ll look out for it.

I’m actually kind of curious to see what the fan editors might end up doing with this film. Unlike TFA this film is a lot easier to reconcile with the more old school fans who prefer Legends material. (F.ex. since there was no caption identifying Vader’s castle as being on Mustafar, I imagine someone could easily just add “Vjun” or “Bast Castle” to it, etc.)

I’m still a bit confused over why Mustafar was never identified by a caption though. Did they think that too many people might not know the name? Or were they simply trying to keep the PT references to a minimum?

I was wondering if it had anything to do with it being an oversight in Post Production. I would imagine Gilroy added those name cards because I don’t think it’s Gareth Edwards style to add stuff like that. That is only a guess mind.

But you can see Gareth Edwards Distinct style of film making where he put’s people in front of big special effects shots and alike to give them a sense of scale. Certain shot’s don’t follow his style either but that could be John KNoll.

It’s no Bad thing but apparently the novel the scenes at the beginning are in a different order being the Prologue (Flashback to Lah’mu) then not Back to Jyn but to Cassian then Bodhi Rook and then we get back to Jyn and stay with her until broken out of the Jail.

So Perhaps a better Order of events?

Neither was Lah’mu labeled by name either by the way…
