STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

Question about the new shot with the rebel transports taking off.

I noticed that the ION Canon is animated in the background and I know this shot changed a bit from what you first showed us ages ago. It’s got my wondering why it is animated?

It got me thinking things like is the laser bolt missing and then I thought, nah perhaps too early to fire.

I’m not really saying it’s a mistake or anything but I am really curious about this it seems like you had something planned and changed your plans or something!

come on tell us what is going on… 😃

Spill the beans please if you can unless you have something else up your sleeve for us 😉

my mind is now boggling. I think I can see it in my mind anyway…

Because this edit was too good to be true for me I just have to ask this question: Was there anything from TESB that didn’t get fixed?

Leia kissing Luke 😄

Seriously, while a large majority of known issues have been fixed there are a few that are still in the film. Some that you’ll have to live with, and a few that could possibly be fixed…

For the record, I wouldn’t “fix” the kiss, it’s as much a part of the movie as “No, I am your father” is. I don’t think there’s a single big thing or nitpick he has missed. Though he has introduced a couple new small issues (visible layer masks, typos), which I trust will be resolved when the BD-25 version comes out.

I’m also not a fan of the new title crawl, but that’s just me. The font looks a bit too thin, and it doesn’t look right to me without gate weave.

I never meant the kiss between Luke and Leia, but there is the kiss between Han and Leia on the MF before C-3PO interrupts them where in one shot she has her hands down while kissing him then in the next shot her arms are around him.

I think it’s the best deleted scene in all of Star Wars it’s a shame they only released it in Black and White. But it’s probably pretty impossible. Or very, very difficult. Someone was colorizing some shots and then they disappeared. But Ady did not want to change the structure of the film and fair play to him.

the Dagobah matte when Yoda lifts the X-Wing. It 100% looks like it was always there.

I was waiting for it to be like a sunrise or something coming through the trees and then when I saw it was like just a blue haze I was quite surprised but it made complete sense and I nodded yes.

The amount of clean up on the shot’s at the end basically for me at least it was just lovely to see that all looking perfect and I felt that yeah official release so horribly bad theres too many good things to mention. Ady fixing the holes in peoples heads also. Crushed blacks gone thank god… The color correction it’s the best I have ever seen it look.

It’s like a huge repair job with great extras.

I will give you some feedback on a few shots… I don’t think there is anything particularly wrong with the work I think it has more to do with the source that you are using.

These a small things but in a sea of outstanding let’s nail this down and it’s not about pointing fingers or personal opinion.

ok first.

Pink legs became just bright legs. In terms of matching this up the legs need to be darker but it’s no big deal.

This sort of Fluro Jumpsuit in this part of the film only must be something to do with brightness and recomp in the blu-ray. Where ever the recomps are you need to compensate for the increased boost in the source. But when the jumpsuit like this It looks wrong it’s probably about 4 shots total that it goes this color in Hoth battle seemed pretty good the rest of the film. But this was extreme but again it’s the video source suddenly changing most likely and your LUT not compensating.

Here you have been caught out by how bad a shot this is in every version on home video but… Outside the window is fine it’s on another layer.

Inside you have the weird purple magenta tint from the original still happening which is a huge way out shot compared to the rest of the film. Here is my reference.

Basically the highlights are a big problem but I do believe this particular shot tints yellow to be right in the highlights at least for the interior.

Finally

I still think the ground lacks detail in this shot and it’s again the video source it’s just got something wrong with it and it’s not your fault. In terms of finding a replacement I can point you here to fix the ground detail on this shot only as all the rest are ok.
https://youtu.be/DYldBHQw3s4?t=73

Would not be the first time you nicked shots from stargate… Keep the tradition going! 😃 That really is all I have to say Not trying to push ideas but I do think that shot with the ground lacks detail and I know it’s not your fault so no bother leave it if you want to. But apart from that. I don’t think I have any points to raise and this was constructive criticism and I don’t think it is crucial or very demanding in any sense but this was if you like what I can see and perhaps just an opinion.

Shock Horror my favourite edit… A splash by you know who in the swamp. Surprised?

Yeah love that shot Really gotta say I enjoyed it.

On that shot in the 16mm / 8mm version there is audio for the soldiers shouting while running away, I thought Ady might have restored that on that shot.

There are so many things that it’s hard to take it all in, but it does not stray very far from the theatrical or special edition in terms of structure and this can be both a good and a bad thing, but ultimately I felt it was very, very well done respectful and I felt perhaps this compared to ANH:R was restrained or restraint somewhat slightly as this was more in the ilk of a lick of paint and enhancement. Love the the new mattes and models and the Wampa.

Yoda is bonkers and I really enjoyed the revisited version. That is all I am going to say apart from once again thanks for all your hard work!

I will purchase the Digital download of ESB Blu ray but not download it. Wondering how big the file size will be? or I will wait for a smaller file size version if it is massive gigabytes?

I will just await the details and make up my mind wether to wait or go today… Although If I can free up the space I will go today.

Info: Deleted Scenes from Films that ended up in Other Films or TV shows Archive List
Time

Quick Update.

The last scene of King Conan with Narration from Conan the Destroyer was meant to be the first scene in John Milius Conan the Barbarian.

Presumeably this is due to the Narration of Arnold Schwarzenegger being replaced with Mako and deciding the oriental accent voice over narration did not match the image. Hence the Black Screen with Narration.

The shot times out exactly to the introduction and the introduction is a Dolly in the scene present in Conan the Barbarian of King Conan a Dolly out.

So a Bookend to the Film one in which he has his Sword another for which the sword was absent.

Destroyer = Introduction

Forgive my tardation with the lack of BBcode knowledge

Edit: also this http://images.static-bluray.com/news/upload/1180_tn.jpg

Yeah…

Now I read various things about the MPAA re-submission for avoiding the x-rating and getting an R rating and De Palma basically just submitting his first cut of the film as the censors were not really aware of stuff and because it was decided the R rating should be granted via an appeal De Palma went through with restoring the edit even though some cuts were waived not all of them were granted and he just rolled the cuts back. It specifically says his original cut that was first submitted.

Then when it came to home video release De Palma admitted he just put out the uncensored version to theaters.

But it says in information this scene was the only cut.

The question is was it in the theatrical release and cut for home video release?.. When he admitted that he put out something that was not given permission to put out…

Basically Citation needed and if someone was saying that scene was in the original release, the information I read does not make anything particularly clear.

It would be worth asking the question if a print come up for sale? I don’t know… One to investigate… Perhaps.

Found this… “I sort of worked in the movie business in the early to mid 80:s
in Finland. There was however a Scarface test screeing in Copenhagen Denmark in the spring/summer of 1983. This was aimed at the Scandinavian market. This version contained a much more graphic “chainsawing”, I can remember the severed arm and leg (probably just 2 or 3 seconds but enough to shock).
The version released in theaters later was the “cut” R-print.”

So to me it sounds like Rolling the cuts back to first original submission is the incorrect information. And De Palma did not really go against the censors In any massive rebellious way. And what he released to theaters was obviously Censored. Perhaps he went maverick on the test screenings but I doubt it’s ever been released to theaters other than in test
screenings.

But If there is a difference then I suppose it’s worth asking the question if a print came up.

It’s not on this list but I did read that Scarface - Al Pacino has a scene in the theatrical print that is not in any other version so that would be one to look out for.

Just thought I would give the heads up on that…

Specifically, it had an intermission in the original theatrical release.

I read that it had a scene in it that was not released on home media. But I think it could be incorrect information.

I guess collectors of films will declare what is being bought, but it sounds like there is not any need to investigate this. I think it is possibly incorrect info.

And I can not find where I read it either as I saw it a while ago. But it was either somone claiming the severed arm was in the theatrical release or it was a unique shot at the mansion siege attack part.

I think it was somone claiming the severed arm on the shower rail was in the theatrical release.

Probably BS but It is one of those… urban myth probably.

When I did that test clip I had higher contrast then changed my mind it needed more contrast and re-upped a changed version with increased contrast.

But looking at Lewis shirt it is blown in mine not in yours. So I would say it must be less contrast and you are on the right track but I would say it is resting in the blue / green contrast and it might be worth bringing the gain down overall on the master and increasing contrast master.

But other than that I think this is really good.

Very close my thoughts definitely rest in the gain master and contrast master settings.

Just to add I would reduce green gain in the test clip I did. But anyway I think I have given you good trade off options. Honestly I think there is more to get from it but it does not make your regrade bad at all I just think there is still more to get from it.

Made a regrade using HDTV as source; why? Because, even if it has lower quality than BD, it has bigger frame size in the first part of the movie; it could also be used just for the first part, where the frame size is bigger, though…

But can we explore this turquoise tint I did a quick test and here is the result.

Don’t know if anyone agrees with the turquise tint but I definitely think there is something in it. Basically I remember it being like a turqoise look on TV or something and those pictures also have the Turqoise look.

Not saying you should do this at all… But I wonder if there is any agreement on the turqoise as nobody seems to register the possible likely hood it was tinted differently in cinema than home media. Well I made a case for it. Hope somone agrees?

But still Andrea your Regrade looks really good. I am not saying the settings I used are right either but It might be a pointer towards getting it looking right somewhat?

Andrea I really appreciate that offer but… I just made it more like the documentary footage and it’s a bit brighter than those pics but it’s fairly accurate to those pictures which means I think I can get sway with it a bit better.

That shot has been rotated zoomed flipped and cropped and color corrected to be used…

But there will come a time I know I am going to be stumped so please If you give me some help I would only want help when absolutely necessary like totally stumped. I know I will need your help at some point I just don’t want to have to ask you to do anything unless it’s a real deal breaker.

Honestly I appreciate the offer though… But I think It was too bright so I have eliminated the bloom now that footage match much better.

I might re-up it with the deleted scene I just found re-inserted. make an assessment then if it really irks you then no problem but I think the footage was too bright.

No more re-arrangement on this scene.

Cheers Andrea,

Yeah I am trying to recreate the colors or similar from the documentary footage and match outside and inside on this scene. It’s definitely meant to have that blue / green tone as the highlights and mids really pop.

How do I add a grain plate or de-grain. I am not sure I have a program that can do this? I have video enhancer weather there is a plugin on that?

Yeah as far as cuts go. there is a a cut shot of “Every body spread out!” and then later when he get’s attacked at the end some trimming and re-timing speed. Basically he looks like he never get’s hit with the staff weapon at all and the shots don’t follow on from one another. Otherwise there is 2 extra shots of the Pyramid ship. Some reshuffling of shots in the correct order. Some extra shots added as alternates.

Like I said this was one of those parts that really needed something doing on it.

Watched it a few times myself again and noticing a few things myself. Might need to swap around two more shots near the end of the guy probing around and the preparing the weapon. I think he might look up after the other guy get’s hit?

Also a little bit out of synch so more speed changes.

Comparison Pics from documentary.

^ This shot above is actually a deleted scene so I will have to try and add this one. I totally missed that so glad I did these pictures!

The other thing Is I will have to try to decrease the Bloom on the light sources.

To me the most current BDs/UHDs for GHOSTBUSTERS I & II look fine as-is. Albiet some weird shifting in color here and there. Both need custom bonus feature discs and it’s the main reason why I’m keeping the 1999 DVD. GHOSTBUSTERS II honestly needs way more features.

I reckon there will be a new release soonish as they found a deleted scenes reel from GB1… Just saying it must be in the pipe for a HDR release

That sky on the picture I posted of the skyscrapers though. I would love to see somone recreate that look from those photos. In moving image.

Point out any mistakes but I don’t think there are any on this one or atleast I hope not. Was quite a bit of fun and it was one of the most important sections to make it a bit better I feel I have done that mush.

So parts left to complete

Giza 1928 (Done)
Stargate first activation (75% done)
Stargate second activation and abydos arrival (60% done)
Sandstorm and Pyramid spaceship arrival (90% done)
2nd Battle at Pyramid and meeting Ra (70& done)

I have another source but it is also blown so not sure it is worth the effort…it is like that in the film…

I doubt it is fixable that shot but it does annoy me that there is obviously loads of material for this film and MGM have the lot and when certain episodes of the TV series ran over budget they would pull in deleted shots from the feature film.

Basically there is a version that looks perfectly normal and is different and it’s with MGM and not being shared in full or partially even in bonus content.

The promo reel documentaries
and all the deleted scenes showing up in the TV series proves this.

I found another shot yesterday in series 2 for chevron 2 stargate sequence first activation

I will do my best with this but that deleted scene is I think an alternate take again so it’s quite fascinating anyway…
