I have been criticised  for suggesting this clip in another thread and then it actually dawned on me if it were used where it could go.

When Vader Lands on Endor (shuttle landing platform) The shot of the leg touching down...And perhaps the ramp coming down... Don't know if you do after effects work or not but that is perhaps the best place for it and if the car that the leg goes through could be removed this might work quite well. But it all depends on the car and debris being removed.

Let me be clear about this clip as others got confused...  shot of the Shuttle leg touching down under belly only and perhaps the door coming down and even Vader but Bingowings noted the costume inconsistencies which is something I Really don't think about too much TBH.

It may fit because it's at night and Vader is departing the shuttle but without looking at the scene it may mess the music up and the car would have to be digitally  removed.

But It's really not a big deal just an idea

The shot of the shuttle leaving bespin and flying towrds the executor does not mess up the music...

The other 2 shots Boarding and getting off on the deathstar are horrible, ridiculous and mess up the music entirely.

I was actually only referencing the shot of the Leg (Although it goes through a car all this background could probably be removed?) It was that brief 1 second shot I was trying to draw attention to regarding the shuttle. And showing the physics and suspension of the leg touching down.

I am no expert on this rotoscoping stuff so forgive me if it's no good and can not be used for anything probably the lens flare kills it...

It's a trade off I was expressing what I would like to see... It's very very difficult to overcome the flow of willams score the only times I added anything was in a moment of opportunity in the score It had nothing to do with the footage per say

Although I have added in at the windows of opportunity I have failed miserably at scoring seamlessly from where it stopped and picking back up again.

The only way to do any expansion would be to score a bridge and then time the footage you want to add to the inserted bridge score. This is what I have just learnt from the exercise.

And It's not about ruining the film either... I prefer to believe in finding a way to make things happen and it does not have to be radical...Just having an open mind and I am not planning to edit ESB but I just like to play about and learning along the way.

Yeah I understand that entirely. I feel the same way too in some sense but there is also a part of me that want's to see more and to some how make that work...You even said it yourself... A Guilty pleasure

As for The windows of opportunity I think I used them all bar after Vader enters echo base.

I am not putting the film down it's brilliant... But there is that part of me that want's to see more... expanded... Make it work seamlessly...without ruining it

As I said it's more about what I want to see without worrying too much if it kills a sacred cow (original) but somehow if it could be done without ruining what is there it would be my ultimate Hoth but like you say it can ruin it... It would be great to find that holy grail of how to seamlessly integrate into it... Unlike space battles which is a lot easier...

It's John Willams score more than Kersh and how that flows... Williams Music is the barrier to overcome not Kershes editing... If you can score seamlessly from the original you could put footage to it. Simple as that.

Considering the old Flash Gordon Inspired Lucus to do star wars I think this one deserves a mention

There a video clip above... This is not visual enhancement but an effort to try to expand hoth Battle in a few places theres a change list below.

1. Alternate shot (removed Bad POV and Luke saying I'll cover you to wedge) =increases pace and definiate improvement

2. Ion Canon shoots Again = is ok

3. Stormtroopers enter the base earlier = is ok

4. "Crude" but Vader Lands on Lambda needs Roto shuttle troops disembark AT-AT's The AT-AT foot ideally would be combined with Vader leaving the shuttle = Needs work not so good

What I could not do is having Vader Kill a Rebel via lightsabre when he enters the base... Credit to ALanfae Vader having lightsabre brandished when entering the base I think is the way to go and would like to see a kill just to make Vader extremely scary... Although not graphic Music cues may make this impossible the only place would be straight after bursting through the wall scene I feel.

This is not so much about wether it works although I have done it in rough it's more about what I would like to see or how it could be possibly expanded.

Another thought I had regarding If Verrs got Kamikazed as originally intended would it be better to have a new AT-AT destruction for the one Luke destroys and use the existing one for Veers demise as the snowspeeder is meant to fly directly into the head... Just an Idea

I watched the directors cut of THX1138 about a year ago and was actually blown away by the picture quality and enhancements over the original...

Some people may prefer the original although I saw it on an old VHS tape.

Although Star wars corrections at times are totally questionable do you feel the same way about THX1138... I think Lucas actually improved this one.

Good point... I am just saying that a 3d re-release will bomb... If the new films are good fine

but I won't be going to the cinema to watch any PT Star wars ever again

The PT is still flawed but it would be positive gesture and could spread the convention buzz to every multiplex in the world.
