Sorry, didn’t mean to “acquiesce to disorder.” Don’t blow up my system.

Wow, the forum look so different. It’s like that episode of the original Battlestar Galactica where they got caught up by those lights and their uniforms all turned white.
Nothing about the sequel trilogy is disappointing to me. The most satisfying aspect is after enduring the long dark time of the prequels, Star Wars is finally good again.
I wish tickets would go on sale.
I’m definitely going to go see it, and definitely more than once, and it’s not that I mind new actors taking up a role previously portrayed by another actor. The show must go on. Look at James Bond. But Han Solo is just a cool guy. he is the epitome of cool. This new actor doesn’t seem cool at all. He seems kinda like a nerd. I don;t know if I can like nerdy Han.
That new trailer looked great. I can’t wait to go see it. But that guy has absolutely ZERO Han Solo attributes. I can’t believe they made a Han Solo movie where Han will be the worst part.
I’m sure it’s pure nostalgia, but I have the fondest memories of the old green vector graphics arcade game.
Meanwhile…
Our likely best hope of a professionally done restoration for a 4K theatrical version of the Original Trilogy probably lies here - with poita’s superb The Original Trilogy restored from 35mm prints ongoing project.
Solely as a member here, I’d recommend anyone & everyone to have a look through the above thread, and if anyone feels like doing so, make a donation (no matter how ‘big’ or ‘small’) - to contribute to help bring about something that many of us here, if not near-on all of us on this site, want to see come to fruition.
What happened to 4K77?
Quick show of hands, who here actually has a Rotten Tomatoes account? I’m genuinely curious about how many people are active on the site, because neither I nor anyone in my social circle has ever reviewed anything there. I suspect that active RT users may be too niche a group to really be representative of audiences overall.
FWIW, Letterboxed (which is the only place I personally ever rate anything) has TLJ with an average score of 3.7 out of 5 stars, with 4 stars being the most popular response by almost twice as much as any of the other responses (I gave it a 4.5).
The 3.7/5 score is in perfect agreement with the 7.4/10 score on imdb. The amazon score is now at 3.5/5 stars.
I have a rotten tomatoes account and I have rated a few movies, but I certainly don’t rate everything I see and I don’t take the time to write an actual review.
I am just fascinated by rotten tomatoes scores. It’s like following sports in a way. The ratings don’t inform my opinion, I make up my own mind regarding what I like and don’t like, but it’s extremely interesting to see how those scores go. I like seeing movies I’m fond of do well. It’s the same with box office numbers.
The Empire Strikes Back received mixed reviews initially when it was released. Over time it’s now regarded as one of the better entries of the saga. I think it will be the same with The Last Jedi.
Episode IX releases in theaters December 2019, so a blu-ray release in 2020, ad sometime after that will be an inevitable new boxed set that includes the entire saga (late 2020? early 2021? other?). I wonder if it will be 4K and will it contain the unaltered originals?
Disney will probably be clever and only include the unaltered originals in the 4K full saga box set. The only way to own the unaltered originals is to also buy Attack Of The Clones - that is the heavy price you must pay!
I cant even begin to imagine how bad some of the CG in the prequels will look in 4K a couple of years from now. I know Star Wars and ‘Special Editions’ don’t have a great track record, but if Disney came out and announced they were modernising the Prequels CGI up to present day standards for a Special Edition then I wouldn’t object!
That is what I am thinking. They will probably release The Force Awakens and Rogue One in 4K first to get all of those purchases, and then Episode IX will go on sale, and sometime after tht the boxed set comes where you will have to buy all of those and the prequels again just to get the Unaltered Original Trilogy in 4K.
I’m part of the problem because I’d gladly prepurchase all of the above today if they posted it today.
Prequel Special Editions? I don’t think that could ever happen. I don’t imagine they would ever let someone else alter George’s work. They might let him come on board to lead the Prequel Special Editions, but would George even be interested? Is he healthy enough to start something like that? As much as I dislike the prequels I’d definity have to check them out if they did do it. As much as I hate the Original Trilogy Special Editions, I’d check new versions of those out too if they made them. Star Wars is pretty much a license to print money.
What I want most are those Unaltered Originals. Not sure how much profit is in it for them so I don;t imagine it’s high on their to-do-list. I hope they do the right thing before I’m too old.
I’ve watched The Director and the Jedi twice. I love it. My favorite Star Wars documentary is still Empire of Dreams, and my favorite making-of documentary is Dangerous Days: Making Blade Runner, but The Director and the Jedi is really great.

The Last Jedi 4K steelbook should be delivered today.

Would an El Camino count?

The Director and the Jedi is an excellent documentary. It’s not as great as Empire of Dreams, but it’s an excellent look at the scale of the production. Instead of the usual interviews playing over behind the scenes clips, we get extensive footage of the daily operations. Incredibly interesting for fans of TLJ and movie making in general.
For the people that like TLJ and obviously can’t accept that there is a portion of the fan base that don’t - you do realise that you are not obligated to respond and if you do, maybe you could be a little more considerate and respectful in your responses rather than insulting and deriding.

Perhaps you think you’re being treated unfairly?
Last Jedi blu ray purchases will outnumber petition signers.
I hope they release a nice boxed set of Rebels.
I’ve already got the 4K steelbook preordered for the 27th and the digital copy for Tuesday. Cant wait!
Digital release on 3/13, blu-ray on 3/27. There is a feature length documentary in the special features that I am very much looking forward to. Supposedly lots of other content as well.
As one who really liked TLJ, I am excited to see what bonus features are included.
Director Rian Johnson takes fans on an intimate journey into the creation of Star Wars: The Last Jedi in a feature-length documentary, explaining his unique interpretation of the Force, detailing the painstaking process of creating Snoke, and deconstructing action-packed scenes from the film such as the epic space battle and the final confrontation. Johnson also reveals two exclusive scenes, featuring Andy Serkis as Snoke prior to his digital makeover, as well as 14 never-before-seen deleted scenes, in addition to his audio commentary.
Bonus features include:
The Director and the Jedi – Go deep behind the scenes with writer-director Rian Johnson on an intimate and personal journey through the production of the movie—and experience what it’s like to helm a global franchise and cultural phenomenon.

Iron Man, Swingers, and Chef are great. Can’t wait to see what he comes up with. I’m sure he will have his pick when it comes to casting.
