...am I seriously the only person here who didn't object to Hayden in ROTJ? Admittedly the execution could have been better — I agree with BW that it would have been better if he'd been in his ROTS costume — but I liked the principle. If people simply think Mr. Shaw was short-changed, well... he kept all his lines and 99% of his screen time, and we don't see (many) people complaining about Ady leaving Clive Revill on the cutting room floor.

He definitely had extensive makeup in ROTJ. Personally I'm of the opinion that they didn't need to show a moment when he changed from human to deformed, and that a gradual decay worked better; if you look at his makeup in AOTC you can see he's starting to change already and I think that was originally the way they were going to go, but in ROTS he's back to normalface until he zaps himself.

Another thing that just occurred to me: if we keep his sabre purple, and do a couple of other cuts, we can turn the "This party's over, muthaf**ker" scene into a quasi-cliffhanger. If someone lights a blue or green sabre at Dooku's neck, it's obvious it's a good guy come to kick his arse. If it's purple, it's ambiguous. Not saying this is necessary, but if an edit wanted to turn that into a cliffhanger moment, it'd kinda help if the sabre was purple.

I personally like the purple sabre, and I liked MagnoliaFan's touch of recolouring Dooku's to be gold — just as purple, being a combination of blue and red, represents Windu's aggressive fighting style (that's EU canon, btw, not fanwankery), I saw yellow (being a combination of red and green) signifying Dooku's moral ambiguity, which MF had already established with a few very minor cuts.

One thing I will say is that I preferred the 'flickering' sabres of ANH and ESB to the solid sabres of the other four films; the flicker went well with the buzzing and humming and lightning clashes and gave the impression of immense power barely contained. I hope Adywan can add a flicker to the sabres from ROTJ:R onward; given he's repainting them anyway to avoid the fatness and fix the colours it shouldn't be much more work, and it might even be easier given we don't need as precise continuity of thickness and position between frames.
