I agree with Ithilgore. If you watch ROTS without knowing anything about the OT, or even that it exists, you get the same effect as I got when first playing Halo. You get to what feels like starting to wrap up the story and get to the big finalé, you think "this was a bit short", and then everything goes to HOLYSHIT ZOMBIE ALIENS EVERYWHERE SHIT SHIT SHIT RUN! Well, that's Halo, in ROTS it's more "Holy Xanatos Gambit Batman!"

We can assume that the sensors are on, and as I said, he's talking almost to himself. You could put a radar display on the screen or something if you want to make that clear, which would probably be easier than changing the scene outside.

Alternatively, you can interpret the line "That looks pretty good" to refer to the crater, in which he maybe hopes to find somewhere to hide, and "Yeah, that'll do nicely" to refer to the cave when he sees it.

You know, I never noticed how great that piece of music is until now.

I also think that, with a little trimming, that sort of prologue could work very well in a more radical prequel/reborn-style edit. In particular, I think only one past defeat of the Sith needs to be mentioned; the parallels with the Lord of the Rings films are pretty close here. Sauron, and Morgoth before him, were defeated-but-not-destroyed several times before the story opens, but the film only shows the most recent instance.

Could be either. Given Leia's costume change, I'd go for sunset, but on the other hand the sky outside appears to lighten once Lando takes them inside — if you wanted to make it unambiguous, you could change all the windows to twilight vistas. Either way, all the action at Cloud City after their arrival takes place over a single day — same day if they arrive at sunrise, next day if they arrive at sunset.

I will always think that it took the Falcon on the order of months to reach Bespin, given it is unable to travel faster than light and Han's line "it's pretty far but I think we can make it", and also given that Luke must have spent at least that much time training with Yoda. The only issue is the lack of progression of Han and Leia's romance, but we can assume that that took place offscreen.

I don't mind the colour of the "starburst" effect on the DVD menu, but the typeface jumps out at me. Everything else is in Trajan, same as the official DVDs, but the instances of Times New Roman in the logo here and in the main menu screen are offputting. That said, complaining about the menu really raises us to a new level of nitpicking — how many faneditors make animated menus that are mostly indistinguishable from the professional ones?

The Purist edition was released as a barebones DVD5: it restored the editing in Ben's hut and the pacing of the original TIE Fighter reveal, and removed the music from the lightsabre duel. I don't remember if it also removed the music at the Imperial conference table and extended edit of the Death Star reveal.
