^Yeah, I would say it's the professa. ;)
^Yeah, I would say it's the professa. ;)
^They did it on Mythbusters, too...literally.
^Thanks for the link. Hadn't thought of that. :)
Very unique, that's for sure! ;)
Bingowings said:Will we get any further foreshadowing (other than what is already in the film) in this edit Ady (perhaps in the nature I described a while back)?
Can you reiterate what you said "a while back," please? ;) It's about ESB, right? Heh heh.
^Hey, tattoo parlours, ink cartidges... hint hint! ;)
^Yep. That second picture down is the one used on his figure card.
The guy that was Lando's co-pilot was Nien Nunb. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Nien_Nunb

The first time I saw him (basically when I got the toy, as I never noticed him in the movie until afterwards), I thought 'he must be a bad guy.' But no, he's a good guy! Haha. Another example of deceptive appearances. It's a shame we didn't see him with the Endor strike team, cuz that's where he was going, based on the camouflage duds.
Nice sabers, Ady. I dunno if I like the blue or green one better.
This is going to sound goofy, but I know someone has tried yellow sabers before, but what about orange?
adywan said:The sabers in the PT look more fake than the OT ones. This weapon is giving off a coloured glow and the core is supposed to be bright, but there is no gradient of the glow which is totally artificial. they got the sabers right in the OT
I've often wondered what a REAL lightsaber would look like. For example, would it have a white core at all? It's still a cylinder of light, so I figure it might be all colored light, or almost all white with just a slight hint of color. With the ones we see, especially in the PT (with ROTS being the worst in some cases), it's like we're only seeing half of the light column. It's like a layer cake, but you don't see the layers until you cut a piece away. Hard to explain what I'm getting at... I sometimes wish I knew more about the ways light worked in those sorts of situations. Haha.
Oh, and it seems to me that the pics with George and C-3PO are completely different, not a Photoshopping of it. It looks like different angles to me. I'd say they're just two different pics with the same setup.
^Oh, good. Sorry if I missed that.

Yeah, once they changed their idea. :p Lucas wanted them to appear to be heavy at first and Luke always had to hold it with two hands. (just in fight scenes, maybe?) But then the first time he ever touched one, he's swinging it around with one hand. Hmm...
adywan said:Actually there is no jump cut when the gun appears. What's happened is that they speeded up the film to make the gun come out faster. I have checked this shot frame by frame and there are no missing frames. What looks unnatural to the eye is that because the shot was originally slower there is no motion blur on the gun when there should be.
Interesting! I always thought maybe it was stop-motion animated, for whatever reason there would be for doing such a thing. Is there a way of making it slower without actually making it slower, if you know what I mean?
As for the explosion immediately after, could some extra little explosion or something help to hide some of the hidden frames?
I also agree about the PT sabers. To me, there's a little too much sharp separation of white and color, and why would they have sharp tips like a real sword? They're just beams of energy. I dunno, I still think the ones in ESB are the best.
He said how right in the description!
"through the magic of technology"
I got one of the printed discs from Adywan (thanks again!) and it looks great! Very smooth. No worries about peeling or melting glue or whatever, either. Heh.
^It's just the modern way of many films and TV series. Some look good, some...not so good.
^Cuz the background is fake?
Looks nice, ESF. It's subtle, which is good.
Asteroid-Man said:Sevb32, could you reword that? I didn't get what you meant.
Right before the "I'll never join you!" scene, Vader chops some metal pillars/cylinders/tubes and they fall off. The problem is, they were pre-cut (obviously), but they were held together with electrical tape, which is not hidden at all. But then, after he chops them, all that remains are dark charred stumps and the tape is magically gone. The issue is to get rid of the obvious electrical tape before the saber slices the pillars.
Here's a pic Darth Stewie posted:
Vaderios did make a mock-up of it at some point, as he mentioned.
EDIT: Took too long to find that pic and the others have cleared it up already. Oh well. ;)
^How do you like the nickname he has foisted on you? :p
Asteroid-Man said:I think someone should open a fanart thread.
I have more than once and they get ignored worse than your tutorial thread. :p
^^Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started out in Flaming Carrot, innit?
I just had a funny thought about Leia and the "Star Destroyer" scene. Instead of her saying that, have her repeat the scream from when she first saw a Mynock. :D I'd do it, but I dunno how.
I love that green screen of Lucas back there. Reminds me of the old holiday snaps pic someone made of Lucas and his 'wife.' ;)
fishmanlee said:cheesy and corny are things like "wow thats a big blue forest!"
To me, it's clichéd lines, like "that's gonna leave a mark" or "he's gonna feel that in the morning." I find that (and Ben Burtt's "warbling"/wah wah obsession) one of the most offensive/annoying things about modern films. I watched a few minutes of Independance Day and heard so much of those forced catchphrase moments that I turned it off. My mother keeps telling me it's a good movie, but I dunno...
Some corn is good, though. A movie like Kung Pow, one of my all-time favorites, is full of it and in that case, I love it.

doubleofive said:It's not bad editing. It's seeing the same event twice from different viewpoints. There are some movies completely built around that premise. How else can you follow both the probe droid and Luke at the same time? Split-screen?
"Split-screen" did you say?....lol
Why they didn't do that in the first place is a mystery! ;)
I always look forward to your clips, SSWR. This sounds like a good one, too. So there will be some entirely new lines, then? Since Samuel Jackson has been in pretty much every movie and TV show (and commercial and possibly book) for the past 15 years, you have a lot of material to choose from. ;)
