Regardless it was still a bit daft to expect a 900+Yr old to look physically that much different in a few decades (he might develop a cough and a bit of a limp in the late winter years of his life, though the limp seems to be put on going by his PT acrobatics).

He's also strong in the force and you would think that would be a big help. I get what Sev is saying, but in this case, the only time he probably should've looked different in a sickly sort of way was in ROTJ, where he pretty much looked exactly the same as in ESB when he was healthier. In ROTH, he just looked a bit...sleepier.

I think even some at LFL would admit that the puppet was a big mistake. There must have been people there that thought exactly as we do ('what is this thing we're working on?'), whether they voiced their opinion or not. If they wanted to use a puppet, they should have just used the one from ESB and maybe added a few more strands of hair.

It does seem like text intros/explanations are a big key, and not just at the start, but they could be worked in at different scenes. They can even have their own music, but I think it would be neat, if possible, to start a particular song during the text, but lower in volume. Then when the scene it goes into starts, the music could be ramped up a bit.

I'm just thinking out loud without trying to overthink things. :p

You are correct, Bingo. It starts with a recreation of the opening scene with the pursuit of the Tantive IV. I saw it in Omnimax (Imax film, but the theater is a huge dome) at the Ontario Science Center. We looked up to see the Star Destroyer and it passed over our heads and into the distance. It was a definite "ooo! ahh!" moment.

I made a thread about "Special Effect" here: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Ben-Burtts-Special-Effects-Anything-Can-Happen/post/226982/#post226982

Yeah, there was a pretty big campaign about it, actually. I used to have a full-page add for it that appeared in the Toronto Star newspaper. I remember wanting to go, but never did.

But does something being shown in Imax theaters automatically mean it was shot in a higher resolution than 1080p? Could they have done better than that back in 2001 or whatever? (I don't really know a ton about such things)

I've still only seen one Imax/Omnimax film so far: Ben Burtt's "Special Effects: Anything Can Happen." That was a while ago. :p Too bad we can't see it again.

I just wanted to pop in, and plug a quick video I made - "Gui-Gon Gets Mad".

Ha! Pretty unique. I always thought that scene was pretty cool; Qui-Gon being relaxed and all meditative-like while Maul paces like an animal waiting to attack.

Nice job with the in-movie promotion of itself, too. ;)

You think I could adjust Anakin's pitch to make his voice deeper and less whiney?

I know others have tried, and, as with many other things, subtlety is the key. I seem to remember a video with his voice pitched down a certain percentage, then a bit lower, a bit lower, etc... The thing is, no matter how deep someone's voice is, they can still be as whiney as the biggest four-year-old brat! Haha.*

I dunno, I think it would be neat to hear a few attempts at it from different people. The better sounding ones could be used as a guideline and the ways they did it could be discussed.

*They partly did it as a nod to Luke's 'Tosche station' behavior and such, though, right? Or was it just the way Hayden acted?

well it is funny there is a better version than what you uploaded, that is kind of a slap in the face for everyone that downloaded this version

I didn't ask for it, he just sent it. Please stop being angry at me, huh? ;) If you really, really want to see the higher quality version, I'm not the one to talk to.

As for screenshots, I don't think there's anything we haven't seen before, as his sources are the official DVDs and Revisited and other sources available at the time. It would be the same as taking a screenshot from any of those. (TPM is pinkish, Greedo has Adywan's enhanced facial animations, etc...)

Well, you kinda did, but I forgive you. ;) As I have said in many ways in many places, I'm just upping what I got to up. Like he has said, this is it until the DVD-9. So...not much I can do about it other than do as he has asked, which I have done.

I added a fairly detailed explanation at the beginning of the torrent page for the benefit of Noiders who just won't "get it" otherwise:

"*NOTE: THE VIDEO QUALITY IS NOT VERY GOOD. That is because this is a working draft copy. I am only helping to distribute it and have nothing to do with the edit itself. It is nearly 4 hours long, which partially accounts for the artifacts. The full DVD-9 is planned to be released around December and of course will be of excellent quality both video and audio-wise. For now, this version is merely presented to give people an idea of what the editor is going for and for people to make suggestions on changes that could be made to the story and such. Thank you.*"

Only one comment there so far, saying "no video." I suggested he try another program or maybe he needs some new codec to play it.

And yes, I do have a better version that he sent me just because I'm helping, but again, I'm just doing as he has asked and he knows my--and our--concerns. ;)

No offense to A-M, I think I should have talked to him first and asked why it is so pixelated and such before I made the torrent. I just figured I don't have any control over the video quality side of things, so just put it up and tell people it's rough.

Maybe he could still make a more watchable copy to distribute. To that end, I dunno what to do now. I think people over at the Noid are gonna hate me when they see it. :p (not understanding the concept of rough drafts and such, y'know?) No matter how much I say it's not my fault (and I've reinforced that point a lot there now), as Adywan and I have said, people will shoot the messenger.

I have no idea. That's what I got. Looks the same when I play it from the disc on the PS3 as well.

I can only guess that it's because a dual layer size was compressed down to 700mb or so?

I have a feeling people are going to be yelling at ME when they see it (if not here, then at the Noid, even though I told them I have nothing to do with the quality), but what can I do?

^^I haven't watched it through yet. I figured that since I said I have it, I might as well upload it and just watch it whenever. I'll watch it soon for sure! (I wanted to watch it on the PS3, but the .wmv file has no sound when I tried it on there. There's obviously something about the audio it doesn't understand. I'd update the firmware and see if that helps, but I can't cuz I'm uploading the torrent and don't have a router. Haha.)

Here are the contents of the Read Me file:

"Here is the list of changes that will be made for the final copy:

-The Opening Logo will be changed
-The prologue will be cut from the feature, retouched (to remove flashes of random frames) and inserted on the DVD as a Bonus Feature
-The bit of black frames when Anakin and Obi-Wan meet outside the club will be fixed
-Possible music changes to when R2-D2 approaches the canyon on Tatooine
-The music bleed during the clone battle on genosis will also be fixed aswell as the volume of Anakin and Dooku's last fight
-The fade out from George Lucas, the fade in to Asteroid-Man and the fading to the music list will be fixed. Right now it's just cuts."

P.S. Now that there are way more people on board, the speed has greatly improved, DJ. ;)

Ok, I think I got it. It's up at Noid and Nova now. I named it Asteroid-Man's "Star Wars: Renascent", so you know what to search for. ;)

You might wanna add this info to the first post, A-M.

Oh, and just to say, it worked very nicely on the PS3, but was a bit funny on the computer. (I can elaborate if necessary) I'm not worried about it, though, cuz everything acts funny on my computer. :p

Oh, I also linked to the thread and said comments and suggestions are welcome since it's a work in progress.
