Here are a few cool links I've found tonight!!

My brother bought me a set and they are SWEET, he got all three of the official Japanese Star Wars TV DVD's for $20 - THEY do not seem to be bootlegs of any sort as they have NO Chianese Subtitles & and they ARE region coded 2 so they WILL not play if you do not have a muti region player (two of the biggest dead give away for bootlegs) - The spoken language is English or Japanese and the subtiles can be removed

Both Ewoks Movies in JAPANESE!!

Droids: Animated in Japanese!

"- This transfer (Dual Layer) should be DONE and ready for distribution I HOPE in time for XMAS!!!!"
what is going to be on this, that it will be DL,what extras do you have, can you fill us in a little?
DJ

- No features just the film on DL media captured at the highest bitrate, I feel adding anything extra would go against the true spirit of preservation.

However, some of the earlier releases have not yet been captured (that I know of). They are:-

Star Wars

1989 Widescreen CLV, CX Stereo, 2 discs, Extended Play with "incredible shrinking ratio", CBS/FOX

The Empire Strikes Back

1989 Widescreen CLV, CX Stereo, 2 discs, Extended Play

Return of the Jedi

1990 Widescreen CLV, CX Stereo, 2 discs, Extended Play

Info Wanted: quality of various "Making Of" documentaries on the LD's?
Time
I have them all

The first disc is sourced from the U.S. Laserdisc The Making of SW + SPFX of Empire and the second disc is sourced from the original U.S. VHS tapes (first releases) - Classic Creatures + From SW to Jedi the Making of a Saga (these are some of my first captures ever )

I also have the Dr. Gonzo transfers of the Japanese Laserdiscs (all for docs on two DVD's) of course they have the burned in subtitles but to be honest they look better then mine (except for the darn subtitles!!)

The Kill Bill is listed under In the Queue (not in any kind of order) - this means that it has NOT yet bern uploaded and is in the queue (in line) for upload.

MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)

MagnoliaFan,

First off let me give props where props are due. Your edits are amazing, simply amazing. I've had Ep I and II on DVD for some time and they're favorites of mine and my friends to kick back and watch.

Secondly, I'd like to pass along a request that often pops up in alt.binaries.starwars for a posting of your Ep I and II edits. Seeing how you're already re-editting them, would it be OK if I posted the SL versions of Ep I and II on DVD?

I won't post them without your permission of course, but I think it would be wicked cool to finally get these out in a.b.starwars.

Thanks in advance MagnoliaFan.

HEY MAN!!!

I've asked this same question and was asked to hold off for the updated versions (they should be hitting soon!!) AND the minute they are out I will bump them up onto MYSPLEEN and I'll also forward you a set for the newsgroups!

(BTW - based on the samples I've seen - these updates are AWESOME!!!!!!!!)

1) If you've only seen this version, is it a genuinely good and inspiring movie?

- I did want to watch the film as having grandparents that served in WWII and an adopted grandpa that served at Pearl Harbor but sadly the “romance” story line and cast left a bunch to be desired so it was relegated to nothing more then a TiVo suggestion.

Now having seen your edit of the film twice now with my brother he started to point out what was cut, I cannot imagine seeing the unedited version! (and I’ll be giving a copy to Grandpa Walter IF I make it to Denver this weekend!)

2) If you've seen this and either of the official versions, how do they compare?

- N/A

3) Is this re-edit an improvement of a bad film, or a genuinely good film on its own?

- From what I can tell yes it’s an improvement of a not so good film.

4) If you've seen both and you saw the re-edit first, how did it affect you emotionally when you saw the official version?

- N/A

5) And vice-versa -- if you saw the official version first and THEN saw this re-edit, what did you think and how did you feel?

- N/A

6) What lessons can this give Hollywood?

- That you need a job there!

Request: Traffik R2-R1 Convert - anyone willing to do this?
Time
Most of the $30-40 Wal-Mart or Target DVD players can be hack to make them region/macrovision free so that way you can avoid bootlegs and just by the real region 2 DVD's.

The Philips DVP-642 DVD player is an easy unit to hack and it also plays AVI, DivX, XVID, MPEG2, MPEG1, DVD, XSVCD, SVCD, VCD and JPG's - It will also convert PAL to NTSC on the fly - THE BEST thing is it only costs $60!!

I would be a bad idea to post ANYTHING retail on myspleen as I don't think Xaiver wants any bootlegs on his site (AND by BOOTLEG I mean something RETAIL you can go buy either go buy at a store or online)
