LucasAnimation has been in the works for YEARS now. They actually opened up the U.S. based part of the division last year, and yes, the idea is to do CGI features...that's what the division is all about. Personally, I'm hoping they finally get the Frankenstein pic greenlit, that ILM was trying so hard to get off the ground. Saw some test footage from it a couple years ago, and it looked pretty damn cool.
Sadly, I don't think SW is done...JEDITV.COM, with a redirect to www.starwars.com just went up a day or so ago. It looks like the TV series rumour is true in some way...god help us all, like we need another neverending Sci-Fi franchise.

I'm down to give it a chance......

MAYBE there will be an Indiana Jones Cartoon !

theres 35 episodes of Ewoks (reported by tvshowsondvd.com)
so im guessing it would be around a 6 disc set like jimbo said....

unless they release two 3 disc sets at the same time just labelling them season 1 and season 2....
both could be options...

Remember PROFIT drive Lucas nowadays - I'd expect a season 1 and 2 release.

3 hr version

2disc release

The problem with the Smithee version is it is not edited well and is post pan-and-scan for TV. Though some scenes are interesting.

You know I did post three other films up there, any comments/sentiments on those selections.

Thanks for the links - I've had both for many years now

As for the others.....

The Matrix -

I can see this being edited into a streamlined 4 hour movie OR longer.........
I would also like to see the ANIMATRIX intergrated into the movie also (kinda like the KILL BILL animated scenes )

Brotherhood of the wolf -

I heard it was weak (from a good many friends) so it stayed of my radar

A.I. -
SHOULD not have been completed and I feel is beyond help - (I love Kubrick and fell that the completion of this film was a farce and an insult to a great man.)

Printing Star Wars DVD covers

I had to do this, because the printing of color images is quite "expensive" So now the guy at the print store only had to print one word document. Instead of all the covers.

(I did this with all James Bond Covers, all 21 of em, saved me quite a bit of $$$)

Can you post your SPECIFIC instructions on how to do this? [I mean instructions for dumba**es ]

I tried but I can't figure out the sizes to get it right.

Most of the covers you want are covers I've done ;p

My current cover collection is over 800mb - there is NO way that I can email them to you

- I've got a surprise coming as for as MOST of the covers go - It'll be a week or so but I'm seeing what I can do

Thanks for the props on my covers

I'll post it up for ya!

But first did you need my TR47 versions or the Anamorphic Set?

Well I think my DVD will play NTSC but will my TV display it properly?

If your DVD player will play NTSC it should also have the ability to switch to PAL - does your remote have a P/N button? My Apex has one and my MINTEK can be swithed in the menu.

CHECK THIS SITE to see if your player can do it. I'm sure it can as I've shipped MANY sets to Australia and the UK both which use PAL - never had any REPORTED PAL/NTSC playback problems

As I said before I am awaiting the anamorphic set to see which I personally prefer. I would agree that the quality from one version to another greatly depend on the equipment people are using. I only have a 32" TV, so who knows if I'll even notice a difference between the two. I will be taking both versions over to a couple of friends houses who have much better equipment than myself to do a comparison (one has a Sanyo Z1 front projector and the other has a 50" Hitachi LCD Rear Projection HDTV). All of our sets are calibrated using AVIA. The one advantage my setup has is that I have two identical dvd players hooked up, so its extremely easy to sync up both versions and flip back and forth to compare; where on my friends setups we'll have to watch a few minutes, then swap discs and watch the same scene again. Anyway, I'll be sure to post my opinion in the thread you mentioned.

EDIT: Again, no hard feelings - I was just a little confused.

No hard feelings it's just that these are home created DVD's and TOO many folks expect SO SO MUCH more then is really possible coming from ANALOGUE Laserdiscs

PLEASE post a review as IF you do that and take some screenshots - It'll put an end to the debate of 'WHICH IS BETTER?" - I'll host the pictures if need be

Thanks for the mini review. First off I'd like to say that I really apprecaite all your hard work with reviewing, posting covers, seeding torrents, etc - so please dont take this the wrong way, but your review somewhat contradicts one of your other posts. Above you say that the DL disc picture quality "is only a BIT better than the Anamorphic set that is out now spanks the LOOK and the TR47 set". So this would lead me to believe that the anamorphic set spanks the TR47 set in picture quality. But in this thread you state that "Compared to TR47’s discs, they look almost exactly the same except that these discs are anamorphic and have a slightly higher color level. ROTJ looks a little softer in places compared to TR47’s." I realize that the above quote was from RowMan, but you did say he was an unbiased reviewer whoose opinion you trust. So does the current anamorphic set spank the TR47, or do they look almost the same? Anyway, no disrespect - just wanted a little clairification. Thanks again for all that you've done!

EDIT: Soon I'll be able to make up my own mind, as mailed some blank discs to DigitalFreakNYC late last week to get a set of the Anamorphic version.

You'll need to make your own mind up dude.

EVERYONE here has different levels of components as far as their Home Systems go so it real real depends on what you got -

- The Anamorphic set has better colors and looks better on my LCD projector
- The TR47 set SOUNDS the BEST on my Onkyo
- The 1 and only DUAL LAYER DVD that my friend captured looks ONLY SLIGHTLY BETTER then the Anamorphic SET - AND NOT worth my encodeing them to dual layer or duplicating them asthe differance was only noticeable on my PROJECTOR but NOT on my 27"

- THIS IS ALL MY OPINION ONLY

The difference is neglagable and VERY HARD to really notice AS EVERYONES TV has different color/sharpness settings - Some of you have 60" SONY WEGA's some of you have 20 years old RCA's - I use the "Avia Guide to Home Theater Home theater information and setup DVD" to adjust my personal (and clients) home theater some folks use "Digital Video Essentials - DVD NTSC Home Theater Setup" and MOST of you use the "does that look right?" - method

Some share it some don't - IF you want the best get the REAL LASERDISCS - Period

I've not yet watched these fan created DVD's in their entirety as I've stated before - I have and will only watch the LD's (I have a video proccessor and I can adjust colors and contrast + it's also line doubler) and I get a WAY better result then ANY of these DVDr's

- Rowman has givin the most impressive and complete reviews - If you want to do a review by all means post in the VERSIONS thread

- I said NOTHING bad or inflammatory bro it's all cool here man + If you do get a set that your gonna disto - Dude, PLEASE send a copy to one of the other forum memebers for a review. - That's all - there aint' no one mad at ya

FYI - I've been working in the Home Entertainment System field professionally now for about 10 years.
I'm an independent contractor for Dishnetwork + VOOM and I also do custom home theater/network installations with a few local small-business this is how I'm able to spend as much time on the forums as possible and TAKE a week off of work!

OKAY -

Now that's all cleared up....

I ment no disrespect to TR47 - I hope that your not offended bud.

That's it I'm outta here for a few more days (I had this window open and refreshed it that why I reposted - but I was just told by my son to get away from the puter'!)

DUAL LAYER SET's will hit soon - but be skeptical!
Time
Hey there guys,

FIRST - I'm still on break BUT - I had to post this!!

SECOND - I will start to read the forums on thursday or friday.

THIRD - We did a DUAL LAYER - Star Wars - ONLY Star Wars - THAT's it

FOURTH - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT email me requesting a copy of the DL DVD+R

FIFTH - It was captured with a consumer level ATI card and NOT a PROFESSIONAL MPEG2 device

NOW to answer a few questions I've gotten over the last few days in PM -

1. Yea, I'm planning on a DL set in the FUTURE but as of now the media cost $45 for a three pack - YEA a 3 pack!!

SO I HAVE NO PLANS on duplicating a DUAL LAYER set until a very HIGH END outfit captures it - So please don't ask!

2. YES we did a capture to DL!

I DO have a Dual Layer transfer of STAR WARS that my friend just captured and authored with TMPGEncDVDAuthor 1.6 (DL support) and Adobe Premiere Pro 7.0

The MPEG2 details -

The DVD was encoded with these settings -

VBR with an average bitrate of 8416 (max 9200 kbits/sec 2nd pass) the audio was done as AC3

The file size was 7.6 gigs

The results -

My DL SW looks the same as my LD but with a bit better contrast and colors BUT there is artifacting still there - just like the TR47 and the Anamorphic BUT not as noticable on my 27 but it's hard to tell it apart from the Anamorphic set cept' the aspect ratio is better on the DL and the TR47 set. The DL DVD+R would NOT play on my Apex 1500 or my Mintek 1600 - Played on my brother Samsung but not his Sony AND the PICTURE is only a BIT better than the Anamorphic set that is out now spanks the LOOK and the TR47 set.

THIS will be the issues with all the coming DL versions IMHO - Sure it is a bit better in quality than the Anamorphic set but the truth is the SOURCE is the problem and will remain the problem. The LD's are mastered form analoge sources and that's it you cannot change that.

I have a 94' projection system and of all the versions that I have I have to say that I personally select my actual LD's over any of them. My DL is the best of them all BUT the auido is kinda weak (sorry bud )

Samples of my result -

Sample of my Bookie with Sealab

The screen by itself

The screen in the making (that's my beautiful baby girl and my NOT so pretty brother )

I have no plans to send ANYONE my copy nor do we plan on capturing the other two movies as it's NOT much better than the Anamorphic set SO PLESE DO NOT ASK! (that and we only have the 1 DL disc ) SO we all know that TR47 will have a set for about $60 -100 or so in a few days - AND they MAY I stress MAY NOT be worth it, when the quality is NOT that great (at least MY version is not but considering the tools used....) and UNLESS his source was captured with a VERY PROFESSIONAL MPEG2 device PLEASE hold of on getting a Dual Layer Set FOR NOW!

EITHER WAY before ANYONE sells a DUAL LAYER version I suggest WHOEVER has a copy PLEASE PLEASE send A FREE COPY (only 1 DL DVD+R) of it to ROWMAN for a TRULY UNBIASED review first!!! (I'd send you my copy but it's just not worth the postage )

The http://www.prillaman.net/ site can NOT be considered UNBIASED so the review should be taken VERY lightly - considering that all the reviwes of the TR47 set DO NOT talk about the known FLAWS!!!!

AGAIN I state...

DO NOT BUY ANY DUAL LAYER version - UNTIL ROWMAN reviews it!!

I'm sorry RowMan if I put you on the spot - I only suggest you since your the most unbiased and objective member on the boards)

BUT at this time my DL is NO BETTER (just a bit honestly) then the Anamorphic Set - TR47's set STILL has the best audio!!

NOW I'm back to my break - I'll start to post again this weekend!

Love ya guys!

MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU ALL!!
