How about a game of Japanese Chess, i.e. Shogi? Now playing Shogi4
Time

I'm still lurking around when I don't have too much homework, but I'm afraid the current discussions don't hold much appeal at the moment.

I'd be happy to start another game, but thanks to recent events, Post Praetorian probably won't be joining us. He had to fly back to Alberta recently for business reasons, and I doubt he'll be posting here often in the next few weeks.

Is there any specific game you'd like to play? If not, I suggest we start off with regular shogi, as it's been a while.

Zut alors!  Tres sophistiqué!

You once again prove your worthiness of the title, le Gran Douche de Off-Topic.  Sit atop your porcelain throne, oh witful one!

I have some correctional notes about your French. Firstly, there should be a space between the final words of your exclamations and the exclamation marks. Secondly, you missed an accent. Your first outburst of French thus ought to read as follows: "Zut alors ! Très sophistiqué !"

Thirdly, "grand" is spelled with a D at the end. Fourthly, "douche" is feminine, and thus you should have used "la" rather than "le." Fifthly, "douche" means "shower" in French, so you just called Frink a big shower. Sixthly, "de" should elide with "Off Topic," since the latter begins with a vowel. And since "Off Topic" is short for "the Off Topic forum", it should be, in the end, "la Grande Douche de l'Off Topic."

It's different, but I like it. It felt like was missing bass though. It seemed rather high pitched most of the way through, but then again, I was listening to it with earbuds. I've also never heard the original, so if it was intentionally in the higher range, then that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Well I wanted the drums to pop a little more in mine than in theirs, but are you talking about the blast beats?  Because I agree now that I'm listening for it and perhaps I just need to lower the drum tracks volume in that particular section.

They sound a lot better in the latest mix, by the way (the one you sent to my dad). Not so jarring anymore.

One thing I do think they screwed up with in giving the Archenstone some sort of magical hold on Thorin that he had to fight off like the Ring.  In the book it was just simple greed and the fact that in the warrior culture that he came from you don't give up anything that is yours to someone else because that makes you look too weak and Bilbo ended up being the bridge between the warriors culture of the Dwarves and the peaceful town culture of the river people.

The Arkenstone had some degree of magical hold on Bilbo, at least, in the book (according to what I read just yesterday). I haven't seen the movie, so I don't know how it's portrayed, but it seemed like more than simple greed in the book.

That was an oversight. I bet you didn't see other similar mistakes in my posts.

Otherwise your majesty, don't be so cocky, try to learn my language, then you can talk about grammar with an Italian guy with a modest English education.

Sorry, you used the Royal We and I assumed you were the Queen.

Kidding aside, and in case you don't get the above sentence, not being a native speaker, I assure you I wasn't really making fun of your grammar, but rather teasing your use of "we" when you seem to be the only one holding your position around here. No hard feelings. ;)

^ Surely Jesus is dead though right? He was ressurected to eternal life in heaven but he's still dead. If he's alive the whole time it kinda takes away from miraculous aspect of the "Second Coming"... then it would be the "Still-Came".

Not meaning to offend, just stating that point.

That isn't what Christians believe. We believe that he rose from the dead, and though his body was elevated to a higher form (which we are to receive in our own resurrection after or at the second coming) than our regular bodies, it was still his body. He said he would be with us "to the end of time," but not in the full glory of God, which is what we expect at the parousia.

Uh-huh, because hunting for brightly-painted eggs and worshipping an anthropomorphized rabbit have so very much to do with, like, some bearded  ghost guy haunting ancient Judea...

Do you understand the meaning of the word "principal" or not?

 We accept your opinion.

You instead should accept the fact that it doesn't necessarily reflects the truth.

Your Majesty, you really ought to pay better attention to your grammar! Remember that there is a whole host of people calling proper British English "the Queen's English," so it is desirable that your English be proper.

Well here's something we can agree on--I too love the pagan festival of Oestre, the goddess of fertility.  (Look it up.)

I mean, Christ, don't Christians (and yes, Mormons, too, ender) even wonder where the name came from for what is supposedly their central holy day?

Who says we don't wonder? I love how you immediately assume that we're all, each and every one of us, ignorant of our traditions. I am aware of the Eostre festival, whence comes the name of Easter, but the name isn't important. That festival was Christianized, and though the name stuck, the principal celebration, of Jesus Christ's resurrection, is a Christian celebration.

EDIT: And some churches do prefer to use another name for Easter that is more Christian, i.e. "Resurrection Sunday."
