It would be annoying, and not because of any offense it might cause.
I enjoyed the trailer, but it hasn't made me any more excited for the movie. I'm still taking a cautious approach, in the hopes of being blown away when I actually see it. It differs from the OT in some minor ways that I would rather it didn't (a lot of suspiciously shiny looking things, for instance), but most of it looks great. Seeing as it's just a teaser trailer and we can't tell much about the final product from it, I will avoid passing judgement on whether or not it's on the right track.
You only did that for the record?
I'm avoiding quoting what you wrote, dclarkg, so as to avoid unnecessary long quote blocks.
Your points are fair, but I have thought about them before, and didn't entirely ignore them when typing up my post. I distinguish between "insufficient evidence" (i.e. lack of proof) and no evidence. In the latter case, choosing not to believe is entirely justified. However, I believe that there is evidence, in the form of miracles, the Christian writings we have within and without the New Testament (not least being the apostles willingness to die for their beliefs, though I recognize that one must first accept that that is true in order to accept it as evidence), personal experiences/visions, etc. That isn't concrete enough for many, but it is enough that I think it safer to be on the side of faith, especially since it brings me great happiness and a feeling of peace that non-belief doesn't, regardless of how true my religion actually is. (Naturally, that happiness cannot be achieved without some level of belief, which some, like yourself, feel isn't possible from a scientific and logical perspective.)

Everyone who thinks this bar needs more cops hanging around or a list of rules on the wall should just find a new bar. This is one of the few places left when we can smoke inside, practice freedom of speech and get in regardless of age.
I say we keep it that way."This place can be a little rough" and I like that just fine.
If anybody feels unsafe then maybe they should frequent a more hospitable establishment.
We don't need cops, but the bartender (perhaps that would be Frink) ought to have the right to throw real trouble-causers out of the bar. Right now the trolls can come and do as they please, and they're not really ignorable unless every person who posts here decides to ignore them.
I'd vote number 3, but I'd actually hate it if that happened. I'm interested in the fan-editing and script-writing side of things (though less interested than most on this site), and those just wouldn't work very well in Off Topic.
On the other hand, just think of all the extra threads there would be to derail and have fun in.
Never mind, I vote for #3.

Neither Warbler's Place nor Psycho_Dayv's forum went anywhere. I've seen separate boards for off-topic sections in action, and it doesn't work. I don't know if it's laziness or what, but they never seem to take off - or have the same steam - as the original board.
Well, I wasn't talking about another Warbler's Place(boy, was that stupid idea and a stupid name for a forum). I was talking about a forum that would be the official Off Topic section for ot.com. We would still be affiliated. One of the reasons mine and davy's forum didn't work was we were completely separate forums. People felt that they had to choose between here and those places(even though they really didn't have to, they could have been members of both), and that was no contest. We could never generate enough membership and that wouldn't be a problem with this idea. All the forum members here would be members of the separate place. There would be no competition, ot.com would be the place to talk about Star Wars and fan edits and preservations and the new separate forum would be its off topic section.
This seems absolutely pointless though. Why not just keep it the way it is but have very light moderation? Since some of us, myself included, only want obvious trolls banned, not many members who contribute elsewhere would find themselves banned here for stepping over the line. I just don't see the need to create a new forum.
The difference between a leap of faith in selling a house and in believing in Christianity is that there is a great loss if the buyer of the house doesn't actually have the money, but no such loss (unless you go all the way and become a hermit, or something) in being a Christian. However, by deciding not to be a Christian because there isn't sufficient evidence (while not seeing any other reason that it isn't true) entails a great loss in the afterlife, whether it's not going to heaven, or spending a long time in purgatory, or not being able to experience heaven in the same way as those who took the leap of faith (it could be any of those--I don't claim to know exactly how God judges).
However, there could well be other reasons for not believing than lack of evidence. I see no need to go into that now, so I'll leave you with that argument for now.

Let's hope my next move doesn't end up causing me trouble later on.

I think I'll do the same, beginning with my last move.

If Off Topic was moderated, I would like that moderation to consist of no more than keeping trolls under control. Darth Id and imperialscum have been trolling us lately, and obvious disapproval and dislike of their behavior has not done much to curb that (though the former seems to be less active now than he was a few days ago). If we had light moderation (really light, hopefully), heavy trolling would be the only bannable offense that I would want to see here (I can't think of any others, anyway).
I've yet to see the third movie as well, but I love what I've seen so far. There are small details I don't like (one being the romance between Kili and that elf), but overall, I was quite happy with the way the films were done. I'm rather pleased about the length, unlike many, for the reason that just about everything from the book ends up on film. Too often, moments in the books that I really like don't make it into the movies, since the movie would otherwise be too long. If they'd adapted The Hobbit into a single film, I'm sure they would have had to cut a large number of things that I was glad to see, like Beorn, for instance.

I think Frink could be trusted not to moderate too strictly, and I wouldn't mind it, if it meant that we could keep trolls under control while still having the freedom we have right now. That last bit is what I like most about Off Topic, and why I spend all my time here rather than at other forums.
I would just like to take a moment to chastise Neglify, darth_ender, and DuracellEngergizer (and whatever other participants there were) for this insanity.
That will be all. Carry on in a chastised manner.

It's not The Game, we don't lose if we remember what's happening.
Crap.I just lost The Game. :( And I had been winning for at least 2 months.
I'd been winning for about 4 years. :(
^Agreed. Also, I'm signing the pledge.

@Ric, I figured you might not mind. If you do, I'll remove you.
Nah, I was just teasing.
No need to apologize. I wouldn't have had a chance to make another move anyway.

You cheater! You modified the pledge after I'd signed it, without notifying me! ;)
