Yeah I'm selfish and self centred being the lone voice of defense (by the looks of things) for a large minority of the human race against the fairy tales and prejudice of a large majority of the humans race on this planet and clearly represented on these boards.

Defending your position is not self-centred and selfish. It's the way you treat others that is.

Thread after thread after thread based on various religions and the subject is picked up everywhere else too but I'm selfish because I bang the drum for homosexuality.

I bang other drums too.

I don't hear people moaning so much about my repeated mentions of animal rights or Korean horror movies but when the god squad are in town it's very selfish to defend my sexuality which I repeat is not chose or removable or even expressed much in the way of activity.

You don't make nearly as big of a deal over animal rights or repeat it nearly as often. I'm fine with you defending yourself, but rather than slander others, why don't you accept that they don't hate you or condemn you for what you do? Because most of us don't. We may think it's morally wrong, but I don't think anyone on this forum would hate someone just for being gay.

Why should make any special effort to see your point of view?

Because I make an effort to see yours.

It you who might get something new from trying to see my point of view (largely by not make stupid comparisons between homosexuality and a raft of negative activities) because it is the unusual one. The one we don't both share.

This is why I would like you to make more of an effort to understand me. The analogy about car theft was merely to explain to Frink how it was possible for someone to love another person even though the other person did things that were wrong. I used a serious example to further my point, but it could have been stealing from the cookie jar instead of vehicle theft. My point would have remained the same. The analogy didn't even require homosexual acts to even be wrong at all for it to work, so I don't get why you make such a big deal over it.

I can see why the pedophilia statement could have been offensive, and I believe I already apologized for that. Again, I have changed my views on the subject somewhat, and I don't think it was a very good analogy. It was not, however, intended to equate the seriousness of homosexual acts with pedophilic acts.

I've spent over four decades walking in your shoes try mine on for size.

You've not been in my shoes and I won't be in yours, but I do my best to see your point of view. When someone's view changes, accept that you've won and stop bringing up their original view repeatedly. It is very tiring.

I don't think it's you defending your point of view that is offending him or Warbler (or in the past me).  I think it's that clarified responses are dismissed and the offending statements always acting as the actual representative view in your mind that bugs them (and was the cause of discord between us in our recent tiff).  I actually enjoy our discussions and am always interested in your point of view.  It's when I (and likely others) feel that you are refusing to see ours clearly that I/we get irritated.  I really hope this does not cause another argument between us because I much prefer meaningful dialogue.

Exactly. Thank you darth_ender. Perhaps I voiced my complaint in the wrong way, but this is what I meant.

Every thread in Off Topic seems to end up being about homosexuality and it isn't because other people keep attacking you for it. No, it's because you insist on beating a dead horse and bringing it up at every opportunity, twisting people's words around as if you didn't understand what they said (and you expect us to get what you're saying all the time!?).

This last round of discussion came up because ferris blamed gays in the military for Russia taking over Crimea.

You're right, I did place too much blame on Bingowings for starting up these debates. However, Ferris did not blame gays in the military for Russia taking Crimea.

I'm sorry Bingowings for doing the same thing to you that I accused you of, but your attitude has been incredibly irritating lately. There are better ways to defend your point of view than the ones you've been using.

To equate homosexuality (an attraction to one thing over another) with a chemical addiction is such a stir but I've had it compared to child rape, motor vehicle theft and Gods knows what else on these boards so clearly the great liberal utopia people seem to think exists for homosexuals is as much a myth as the Garden of Eden.

Good grief, Bingowings, is the purpose of those analogies still going over your head? How many times must I explain what I meant before you get it? This shows to me how little you care about other points of view and how little you want to understand other people. Even when I renounce a position I held earlier or apologize for my lack of clarity or lack of thought in a post, you still bring it up over and over and over again.

I get that you've experienced a lot of hate and misunderstanding, but what will you accomplish by repeating yourself over and over again? Nothing. You will accomplish nothing--except for one thing: you used to seem like a great and fun guy, but as time progresses you seem more and more selfish, self-centred, and prejudiced. I doubt that's what you want to be accomplishing, so try considering a different approach if you want better results.

I would also appreciate it if you made more of an effort to see other people's point of view, took things out of context less often, and didn't twist other people's words around, making them look bad.

TRON: Legacy (2011)

I've wanted to see this since I heard it was coming out, shortly after I watched the first one, but only got to do so last night. I really enjoyed it. I loved the first movie and enjoyed seeing the world of TRON again, but this time in greater detail and more realistic CGI. It's neat how they used practical effects for the suits and the CGI meshes well with the sets and costumes. Overall, great film, though I thought Sam's reunion with his father lacked the emotion it should have had.

Once again, no rating from me--it's too hard to fairly rate movies.

God's Frowny Face is my band's third album.

Not only NOT funny but NOT needed either.  You never quit do you?

  What the hell?

I was going to say something about your comments, but instead made a light-hearted joke about a phrase Bingo said that made me laugh.  I even thought that you, a fellow Agnostic,  might appreciate it.

But I guess I shouldn't be surprised, given how humorless you are.

I found your comment funny, Frink, and I believe in said God. Jetrell Fo certainly is a humourless chap.

How about a game of Japanese Chess, i.e. Shogi? Now playing Shogi4

I think I like Ito Shogi as it is now. I still want to work on a couple more 1-dimensional versions, hopefully this weekend, and PM them to you. I'll incorporate some flying generals into one of those. I think you should leave them out of your final version of regular Ito Shogi though. They could be useful for keeping the game moving along, but the kind of thing that happened this game can happen in any Shogi game, so I wouldn't worry about trying to eliminate the possibility of it occurring. :)

It was a lot of fun working on it though, and it was interesting to play on a unique board like that. Now that we're mostly done with it, I'm ready for another game of regular Shogi and I'll make the first move since I probably won't be able to make another until evening.

I see nothing. I could drag it out an extra turn by dropping an SC instead, but that wouldn't be pretty useless...

Don't feel badly about talking me into that sacrificial move, because I honestly needed very little convincing to make it. I wanted to move the game along and that's the best way I saw. I probably could have avoided this situation a few turns back, but I think the outcome would have been very similar in the end. It was a good game though, and I enjoyed it. It's just too bad it was so short (not that you consider that a bad thing :)).
