Chronicles of Narnia (The movie) striking similarities with The Lord of the Rings (the movie)(s)
Time
I think you're really reaching for some of the stuff there, especially the battle. There are so many damn movies that feature two huge armies going straight at each other and having a gritty fight. You wouldn't have even thought to compare the two if they didn't both involve mythical beasts and monsters.

The first thing you've got in there, again, is a time tested sweep and reveal type of thing, which can be seen in dozens of other "epic" films. It's just dramatically effective. It gives everything that feeling of being huge and grandiose.

The second thing you've got in there, that's just storytelling, pretty much. I haven't read LWW in years, so I can't remember if that specific scene was in the book, but yeah, that's just story.

Rifftrax does Phantom Menace...
Time
RiffTrax is like MST3K: A lot are great, but there are some episodes that completely miss the mark. There's also the episodes where there's a few amazing riffs, but the rest is pretty dismissable. Having not seen the Phantom Menace one yet (I create DVDs with new audio tracks of the RiffTrax so I don't have to bother playing back two devices at once), but Star Trek V is pure gold.

Some missing frames at each VOB breakpoint. This has always been a problem with these edits. Hmm. What to do ....

I could maybe help you out there. With DVD Shrink, you can just take chunks of the video, and I can just take a few seconds around where the VOB breaks are and send the MPEG files your way. Would that help?

EDIT: Just to be clear, the clips would be the whole affected areas straight through, from a few seconds before the break to a few after, seamless.
